Awesome experience from start to finish. Kim is the best. I was greeting enthusiastically and Kim did the best of any/all previous experiences with opticians of helping me select frames that were right for me and attractive. She is a true professional who knows her stuff. Since Olney crafts the lenses themselves, the wait was only a week. The bottom line? I wish I had discovered Olney Opticians sooner! They treat me like I am the only customer they have, and have always done everything in their power to solve any issues i may have. it is the only place i go for my eye exams and glasses, and I have and will continue to recommend them to everyone I know. Ive been a customer for over a decade and have never had any problems. I absolutely LOVE Kim and she's seen me many times to replace lost glasses, lost sunglasses, etc. The reason for the 2-stars? Recently I got a new pair of glasses. Super happy with them. I had to use my insurance to get this pair so when I wanted to get a second pair for hobbies (fishing, racing, etc), it would have to come out of pocket. Therefore, I decided to buy a pair online. However, this requires your prescription. I requested a copy of my prescription which they did at no charge, but was missing the pupil distance. I went back to ask for it and was told it would be another $25. The older gentleman (not Butch), started pressuring me, asking why I even needed it and why I was not buying from them. I kindly explained my situation with insurance and how I got a sponsor discount from Rudy Project. He said pupil distance is just something they do not give out. I can understand you want to keep all the business in house, but this was not a case of me just going for the lowest price. It was because I already used my insurance $ on my primary pair of glasses! Not to mention Ive spent tons of $ over the past decade and they werent the cheapest. Ive always come back because of the service even though their stuff costs more! The gentleman said he would ask Kim to confirm, to which he said she did. So he literally spends less than a minute pulling my file, looking up the number and giving it to me. $25 please! Stuff like this really bothers me and I feel sad that I have to decide whether or not to take my business elsewhere over $25. Crazy, right? read more

I bought my glasses at Olney Optical in 2015. I wanted frameless glasses and other places did not or would not make frameless glasses with my prescription. Butch and the staff at Olney Optical said they could make them. I found and selected awesome frames (Silhouette) and the good folks at Olney Optical made my glasses. I absolutely love the glasses -- feather weight titanium frames and lenses with every option I needed / wanted. I recently had these glasses fall and hit gravel, leaving a small chip in the edge of 1 lens. I was sick and thought I might have to replace the lens / glasses. Butch is The Mann. Told me the drill, scheduled me with Kim who very diligently checked my vision, cataracts, spots and all. Before I was even out of the chair, the "other" Kim had three pair of glass styles ready to "rock and roll" (I am using the glasses on stage so wanted a certain style). She had me try on about 8 pairs, and I ended up liking the first ones best. The team was fun, light-hearted and VERY professional, they have been doing this for a LONG time, they are good because you can tell they enjoy it. I hesitate to write a review because I would love to keep this place a secret. It is just so easy getting an appointment! I have a fairly unusual case that has stumped and annoyed Optometrists for years and years. The most recent Optometrist at Lens Crapters (Lakeforest), for example, gave up on me at my first follow-up visit, telling me that I could pass a driving test and shrugging her shoulders as if that's all $400 contacts would get me. In contrast, Dr. Brulé at Oleny Opticians has been extremely patient and interested in helping me achieve the best vision possible. She listens intently and takes her time at each appointment. I'm most impressed with her fresh, outside-of-the-box approach to my unique vision issues. She also volunteers new useful tips about lens care and comfort that most doctors wouldn't bother with considering that I'm a seasoned contacts lens wearer. Kim, the manager, is real asset to this practice. She takes on the role of Eyeglass Stylist, helping customers find their best look. Sean, the clerical manager, is also great. I agree that this place is pricey, but I've never had such positive experiences anywhere. Again, I'm old (42), so I've been at this for a while. read more
