My family and I have been going to this Myeyedr location since I was a child. They're a busier location but I've always had a positive experience with their service and professionalism. I saw Dr. Mathew today and she was wonderful. Their technician Michael was very sweet and personable as well. I was seen the day after I walked in and was in and out within 45 the day of my appointment. After my appointment, I put an order in for my contact lenses. They arrived less than a week later. The wait time is long. There was a mix up with the glasses initially so it took longer to receive them than expected. Prices are expensive, and they add to your bill the protection plan w/o asking if you want it. It's been less than a year and the anti-glare is coming off of my glasses so my lenses are spotty. I called to see if there was any warranty and was told about the protection plan I had purchased ... unwittingly. Regardless, it doesn't help me since I just had my exam with an ophthalmologist (to ensure I received a good exam) and my prescription has changed slightly. The warranty only covers my current lenses so I can't get new lenses with the warranty I purchased less than a year ago. If my current lenses were not defective (again, less than a year old) I might understand this, but since the lenses they made for me are defective, it's been less than a year since I spent over $600 here, and I "purchased" a protection plan, I would think they would honor the plan and make new lenses with my current prescription. I'm not looking to change the frame. I asked the woman who I spoke to "who's going to get new lenses made with an outdated prescription and why can't you honor this since its only $29 to you (and I reminded her I spent over $600 on the frame and lenses) when your product is defective." She just said "it's not our policy". I had no plans to get my new lenses from here due to cost, but if the warranty I paid for would cover them, then I would. I, like others I know, wasted money on a warranty that we didn't know we purchased or isn't beneficial to us. My mother and son both had exams here and still couldn't see well so they went to the ophthalmologist (lesson learned!) and got a good prescription. I don't recommend My Eye Dr. I give 1 because the woman who helped me was patient while I tried many frames on and she was very polite. read more

I will never go here again. They gave me the wrong prescription and blamed it on their software. I had to return the contacts I ordered, send back my glasses, and reorder my contacts and glasses. I don't live near the area, so this was a big inconvenience, and they did nothing to compensate my time. When I called to ask for my correct prescription to be sent to my email, they sent me the wrong one again. This is negligence. I would not trust them with your eyes. I had been loyal to My Eye Doctor in Olney FOR YEARS. And they can't be loyal to me for one lousy appointment! I made the annual appointment for my son who is going away for school. I received two text messages confirming my appointment, but I had forgotten my phone at home on the day of the appointment. When we arrived today, at the correct location, on the confirmed day at the right time, we were told that not only did my son NOT have an appointment but that there was not evidence of ever having one and cancelling it. "The doctor can't see you because she has a lot of appointments and they can't "squeeze him in" is what the female manager said. When I got home I checked my phone for the confirmation texts and YUP, it was today in Olney at 11 am. I called right away and confirmed with the manager that I indeed had texts confirming and all she could offer was to reschedule, reiterate that the doctor was busy with appointments (um, like OUR appointment?) and to show them the text so they could "fix it with the IT department) Wow. They want to help their own business, but had pretty much zippo to say to make it right for us. No apologies. No little discount. read more

Their policy to not send my eye exam records to the MVA in order for me to renew my license is absolutely rediculous. MVA will accept exam up to 2 years old. But MyEye Dr physician will not sign off on sending it if it is over 1 year old. I had mine 1 year & 3 mos. ago. Time to find a new provider. So greedy. I followed my Dr Kim this location, I was with him for over 8 years prior to the pandemic. I haven't seen him in almost two years and was very happy to find him. He's a great doctor with excellent bedside manner. He's very attentive and thorough. I'm never disappointed by the service and thorough attention to detail that he provides. I'm very happy with the service provided. The location is great with convenient parking and I didn't feel any pressure to purchase anything. Bait and switch in their billing practices. Staff will provide service and invoice you for $0 out of pocket, knowing that insurance will reject the claim for ineligible services and then you'll be on the hook for payment. My wife and I have a well known insurance provider for Montgomery County Public Schools and MyEyeDr should know better. They've covered themselves because patients must sign an agreement to cover costs that insurance companies reject. Easy $$$ in MyEyeDr's pockets. read more

I have been coming here for 3 years now getting my yearly checkups and I have been pleasantly surprised by everything. I was able to make an appointment online, I have been able to use my insurance without any hassle, and the price isnt to unreasonable. The one thing that sets this place back is how busy it is! There has always been a wait time and there are always people waiting. A lot of people work here at any given time, so they are trying their best, but it is definitely an eyeopener - no pun intended - on how busy this place can be, especially on a Friday night. Another great thing is the location as it is walking distance to a Panera, Harris Teeter, and the Olney Winery. It has always been a great spot for me to get my eyes checked and go meet friends or handle some errands while I am in the area. It is fairly accessible so it has always been a spot for me. I never felt like I had to go out of my way to come here as it is close to MD 200. I don't really see a reason why I would switch to any other locations. read more

I came in for an eye exam. The doctor seemed knowledgeable and made a prescription for strong prisms, since I have badly crossed eyes. I stressed to him that this is a HUGE problem and that I can't drive without shutting one eye because of the severity of my condition. I purchased frames and was told that it would be 2-3 weeks before the glasses were ready. 2 weeks pass, I get a call telling me that they may be a bit later because the prisms are so strong. Fine. I can wait a little longer. I wait an additional week and call back, asking about the status. I am told it'll be a little bit longer. So I endure this for another week and call back. Now I'm told there is no ETA and that the lab is doing it wrong so they're shipping it somewhere else. Then, finally, I get a call back early last week saying that my glasses should be in by Friday. I call Friday, no glasses. The lab didn't ship them and provided no reason. So they tell me the lab will ship them Wednesday, therefore my glasses should be ready Friday. It is Friday. I called and they are still not in. Meanwhile, I start a new job tomorrow and want to make a good impression, but will be dizzy and closing one eye due to how badly crossed my eyes are, not to mention making a half hour drive there and back. I did the math. It has been 50 days since my appointment. I was very eager to be able to use both my eyes again for driving but have been constantly put on hold and pushed back. I have had to call repeatedly to get information about my prescription and have been told multiple times that my glasses will be in soon. Meanwhile, I am struggling a lot because I see double everywhere and no amount of concentration will fix the issue. I even stressed that, because I start a new job tomorrow, that I needed the glasses by today so I would make a good impression. I will be working all day tomorrow and thus unable to pick up my glasses. I was told yesterday that they'd be ready by today by the latest. Today, I was told they'll be ready tomorrow or Monday so I'm facing a few more days with poor eyesight. I'm fed up right now. I'm so tired of seeing double everywhere and being told my glasses will be in soon when it has been a month and a half. I understand that sometimes these things happen, but the fact that I've had to repeatedly call to get any information is what really bothers me about this experience. I don't know whose fault this is and I don't want to point fingers, and I am not the kind of person who complains about bad service usually, but I need to be able to see. I can't believe how long this has taken. As I said, the lack of communication is the main issue, but I also endured a very long time of having crossed eyes and being told that relief would be delayed more and more and more and more. I'm to a point where I don't think the glasses are coming at all. And I'm even worried they won't work once I get them. BEWARE! These people are scammers!!! I went to this location because I needed more contacts and they were the ones who could get me in the soonest. Not only did they give me the wrong prescription, they changed my contact brand to a brand twice as expensive and they made me wait two whole weeks to get my glasses. I asked for them to be sent to my house but a week later, I get a text saying they've been sent to the store. This location is 30 minutes from my house so picking them up wasn't an option at the time. But had I known it would've taken a whole other week to arrive, I would've figured something out to pick them up. A week passes by and I finally get my glasses but they are bent and I LITERALLY cannot see through them. They are clearly not my prescription at all. They are completely unusable. Unfortunately this isn't even the worst part. After paying almost $900 for this BS, they send me yet another bill of $350 a month after! They said my insurance wasn't covering anything but as it turns out, they absolutely did and they were just trying to get even more money out of me. I have been coming to MyEyeDr's since I was in elementary school, I'm 25 now, and I have NEVER had such a bad experience. I got glasses and test there, things were fine. My son got glasses and test and things were fine too. Problem with their response was when my daughter was picking up her glasses. There was an issue with her right eye. Technician one refused to test the glasses against the prescription and insisted they had been tested at the lab. I went to counter and the same silly story from the guy at the counter. I raised my voice and asked for manager. The second person at the counter wanted to continue to argue. The manager tested them and explained to my daughter a small change in astigmatism. it took him less than 2 minutes. it is very unfortunate that they could not hear my request without raining my voice read more

When booking my appointment, I scheduled with Dr. Matew, when I came in for my appointment, I was taken back by someone who I thought was the nurse because they did not introduce themselves, however they had changed my doctor to Dr. Kim without my knowledge or asking me to reschedule. During the eye exam, Dr. Kim spent more time focusing on his ringing phone than his patient. When I ask him about discomfort in my left eye, he told me that was a medical question and that I was there for an eye exam. He also did not address changes with my eye sight after the exam. I did not feel confident in his exam so I went for a second opinion with another doctor at another company and they confirmed that my script was inaccurate. When I called the front desk to ask why they changed my doctor without letting me know, they told me they would get back to me. I had to pay for a second exam out of pocket. Stay away from this business! A month ago I took my kid for her annual exam. As expected (because they do that every year) they suggested new glasses. Since my kid's frames had less than one year, we asked to replace the glasses only. However, the salesman assured to us that we had a 300$ allowance in our insurance that we could use to pay new frames. I told him that we used that allowance one year ago and a description of benefits stating that it's an every two-year benefit. However he, again, said that the 300 were available in the system. I knew that we used the 300$ a year ago but couldn't confirm when they would become available again, so I trusted what the seller said, assuming that the two year window could have activated the benefit again. I was surprised receiving a ~250$ bill a month later. It seems the myeyedr representative read the description of the benefits but never confirmed the amount effectively available. I went to their offices to complain about the bill, and they just avoided any responsibility. Since I signed some paperwork I was responsible of everything. I would be glad to pay the bill if they would do well their job and not lying about what is covered and what's not. I spent like 10 minutes explaining the situation when I bought the frames but the general manager explicitly told me that my information was not useful and that they only believe what the insurance tells, which is good if they knew or confirmed insurance coverage before promising a price for their products/services. I decided to return the frames and glasses. Moreover, they take a month to cancel the claim with my insurance so I won't be able to buy frames or glasses anywhere else until they do that. It was a complete waste of time. If one of your employees does not well his job, the company should be responsible, not the customer. I am not coming to this or any other myeyedr again. They just try to sell and give you fake prices. You'll receive the total bill later. Be aware! read more

How dissapointing. Irritating too. I have been a customer at this location for 10 yrs. Annual eye exams, reading glasses too. I have never been so rushed, as I was recently. With no one listening. No one paying attention, their only focus, was to " sell, sell. sell". The eye exam absolutely rushed through. Twice I had not yet decided, nor answered " which letters " we're more clear? Didn't matter, he made the decision !? And I had to remind him I had NOT yet decided. I had NOT yet said? So blatant about the selling. Really turned me off. Writing for my daughter. All went well with the appointment and the exam. She was told her lenses were in and she dropped off the frames at 11:00. They were going to be ready between 4-5. She called and was told they were ready. When she arrived, no one could find the glasses. After a long wait they were found in the tech room. Nothing had been done. The tech had not come to work that day. No one called her. No apologies. The woman at the desk was completely indifferent. These glasses are essential for her work and the woman didn't offer to return them. No explanation about when a tech might be available to fit the lenses. Nothing at all. Wow! I went here for an exam since I have vision insurance. They told me what I already knew, my eyesight is fine. No prescription needed. The doctor told me that I would need glasses for work since I am on the computer all day. I asked, you mean blue light filter ones? To which he replied yes yet I was handed off to a sales person to try on frames. They even wanted to sell me sunglasses. Again my vision is fine. Tried on the frames and got suckered into buying the computer glasses, which I could've bought online for $15-50. On a recent trip I placed my glasses on the bed and accidentally elbowed them as I rolled over. I heard a loud crunch sound and thought maybe I broke the frame, but luckily, just the right screw and lens fell out (still not sure how that happened, but whatever). Since I don't have a repair kit, I brought my glasses to MyEyeDr to have them fix it for me. As soon as I walk into MyEyeDr, I was greeted by a very friendly young lady. I explained that I did not buy my glasses there but would like them to fix it for me. She took them immediately and handed them off to someone. I waited about 7-10 minutes and another young lady came and had my glasses in her hand. Done! She had me try them on to ensure their fit. I asked how much it'd cost and she said it was free! :O I mean, it's not like I mind getting things for free, but I felt bad since I didn't buy my glasses there. I originally came into the MyEyeDr this January to get my exam for contacts and glasses. I saw Dr. Dorsam and she was just amazing! She answered a lot of my questions that I had about my vision. That day I came in with my boyfriend and had Thomas help us pick out frames for me. I love them so much! He showed me what frames/colors were good for my face and complexion. I ended up with a cute pair of ProDesign glasses. I came back because I had a question about my contacts and the new Dr. Mathes was very friendly. Im very sad that they changed doctors. The manager was helpful and got me in to see the doctor right away so that I could ask my quick question. They are always so nice here at this store. I've been going to My Eye Doctor for a couple years now. I was looking for a particular frame and they had it for me to try on. I liked the frame, but I was worried about the fit on it on my face. The manager, I believe his name was Ernie (his name stuck out because I related it to Bert and Ernie of Sesame Street), was the one that helped me and he assured me that he could fit the frames to my face for a comfortable fit. To make matters a little more interesting, I had vision insurance that I was going to use. He was able to walk me through the whole process of how much was covered and what I was going to pay out of pocket, which turned out to be very little. After a week while my glasses were being made, they came in. Ernie had me try on the glasses and he was able to fit them to my face and head properly for a very comfortable fit. I couldn't be happier. Also, while I dealt with Ernie mainly, I experienced a very positive attitude from everyone there. The young lady that called me to tell me that my glasses had arrived was nothing short of energetic and professional on the phone. Also, over hearing other transactions with the other workers, they seemed to know their product and were very helpful towards the customers. Going above and beyond of what expected. I've been wearing glasses for many years now and I've been to every optical chain out there. My Eye Doctor by far has been the best experience I've had. The staff is very friendly. The doctors are really smart and easy to talk to. Good selection of glasses and contacts. They can text you when your glasses are ready. Dislike: the eye exam waiting area is a small at the end of a hall. It's very quiet there, but the acoustics from the entire store funnel there. It's really loud and awkward. You hear the beats from the stereo system, the glass grinder revving, employees laughing & having inappropriate workplace conversations & showing each other video clips on their phones, the sales people making customer calls...it sounds like there's a freaking party up front. Put something in the waiting area--add a speaker so you can here the lobby music or put a TV or a sound machine, an air filter--something! I'm very rarely made uncomfortable, but your waiting area did just that. read more

Went today to get more daily wear contacts. The Dr checked my eyes and said they were the same as last year. Passed me through to the customer assistant who recommended contacts that cost over $1000. This is in addition to my insurance. I said no and they came back with an option that was $750. I still said no and they came back with an option at $610. They started talking about rebates and replacement lenses. It seemed like there was a huge attempt to upsell. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a commission involved for the customer assistant. Wasn't happy with the experience. I will go back to Costco next year. read more

I have been going here since I was told I needed classes 12 years ago. The staff is very friendly and the doctors have always been great. Their two for one specials on glasses are very helpful. The only issue is that despite promotions, they are pretty expensive and sometimes you have to wait awhile for your appointment. But as usual when I visit the Olney "Myeye Doctor" the Optometrist is very professional and when it comes to your eyes you want the best and honest service. Although I visit John Hopkins I felt reassured with Olney Myeye doctor I recommend if you want great service go to Myeye Doctor at Fairfield shopping center in Olney, Md. My visit was superb!!
