I had OLM work at my residence for 2 years. Unfortunately I finally had to discontinue service as they were not properly taking care of the lawn and some shrubs that they allowed to grow over their 10 ft limit and then wanted to charge me extra to fix a problem they created. They did come out 1 time to trim back the shrubs after I raised concerns but they did not keep up with it after that. Also in the process I heard a loud bang or crash. I think they may have fallen off a ladder or something and damaged one of my downspouts and dislodged from the underground drainage that they never fixed. The lawn is totally choked out and thick with thatch and it was never that bad before and they never did anything to mitigate that and wanted to again charge extra to take care of the problem. read more

I sent a message for a job I wanted and they responded within a day. They asked me the specs I was looking for and then just stopped communicating. I then sent another message asking for follow up and got no response. As a customer, if I reach out asking for a bid and you don't want to do the job, just let me know. Bad business in my eyes. I've decided to say No and selecting someone else for the project. OLM did a design to the specifications of a landscape designer. The specifications were technically specific and difficult given the relatively small and simple area to be worked. OLM was communicative, their office assistant was pleasant, professional and fun to interact with. Their staff was friendly, professional and skilled. They were willing to work with me toward the budget that I had in mind and they completed in a timely fashion. I cannot stress how important it is for a company to have good communication skills, and this company does. read more

Disclaimer: this review is ONLY regarding their customer service. I have not contracted any landscaping services from this company. OLM did not have the greatest customer service in person, or in their electronic communications. I don't really need or expect overboard syrupy sweetness. I do expect general politeness. Short choppy reply messages asking for information that was already in my initial message, and abrupt mannerisms in person... those things kind of soured the relationship before it ever got started. Worst interaction out of all the dozen or so companies we contacted. It wasn't so bad that it warranted a one star. It was annoying enough to be worth letting folks know. They may do amazing work. But a little customer service work would go a lonnnng way. If you're thick skinned and not easily insulted, these guys may be just fine for ya! :) By the way, it's kinda funny that Hal posted a review on the business. Had my yard done about a year ago and never got around to writing a review. The crew that came out worked hard and fast, except for the younger kid who was white. If he had moved any slower, seriously he would have been moving backwards. The two older Hispanic gentlemen were very hard working and paid attention to detail. The big negative for me was with the business owner and the type of soil he chose for the flower beds. I specifically asked for no bark and a darker richer brown soil and he brought in a fine black bark like soil. Every time I weed i get splinters in my hand which is exactly why i didn't want bark in the first place and now I'm stuck with this until 2-3 years from now when the soil needs to be replenished. This isn't the worst part of it though. The material he chose has a black dye to it and is very messy and stains. When our dog would come in and out of the house, it would leave black streaks from the soil after using the bathroom in the flower beds. He didn't like to use the grass as his bathroom and would resort to the flower beds. And if we had been weeding or working out in the flower beds, our shoes would have that soil stuck on the bottoms of them and it'd stain the carpet. We literally have to wipe the dog's paws every time he comes in now.... for the next 2-3 years! What I learned from this is that you should have the name of the soil you want and not let them pick. Just bothers me that Hal wouldn't have told us this cuz here we are over a year later and we are still having to deal with this soil. I've never had a problem with any other soil but this stuff even leaves the side walk black when we have to sweep it into the flower beds due to water runoff from excess rain. read more

Saw Hal's note on Yelp...updating score given they have reached out a couple times - and outside of their communication, i can't judge their lawn care. Apparently, someone from the company who i was texting, and asked several times for timing of the quote finally responded back to me saying they had been on vacation and that's why there was a delay in their response to me...they were very apologetic. That being said, my quote from OLM was about 15% more than who i eventually went with for comparable services. read more

OLM constructed about 45 feet of manufactured-concrete-block retaining wall about 3 feet high, regraded about 750 square feet of area, installed modifications to the irrigation system, planted a portion in new turf, and planted a number of new plants in the remaining garden area. They mobilized the right number of workers and equipment to complete the project in only 3 days! The workers were very cooperative in following our directions and decisions that supplemented a detailed scope of work to produce a product we are very happy with. We feel we paid a fair price and there were no change orders. We would rehire this company in a heartbeat to undertake further landscaping work on our property, and highly recommend them to others for landscaping projects. read more

What a great place and we highly recommend them for your next landscaping project. We own a boring 1960's rambler and we recently completely updated the interior. However, the exterior was still pretty bland and we hoped to give it some curb appeal. We contacted OLM and the experience was great from start to finish. Hal gave us some great ideas for a paver walkway, and also some ideas for landscaping. Originally, they thought they would be able to do this in July, but they had an opening crop up and contacted us to see whether we could do this sooner. Of course!!! The paver walkway is now in and it is gorgeous. They also added some plants for us, and we plan to have them add more in the Fall when they are able to transplant the rhododendrons at the front of the house for us. Joaquin and Hal were wonderful to work with, as were their workers. We're looking forward to working with them again. read more
