Fast forward to last year and her wedding... during the pre-wedding photo session, the photographer and I hit it off (not like that, perv... I was there with my girlfriend and the photographer is happily married). She was just really awesome... confident and decisive but playful and unobtrusive... she made the photographs fun. And I don't usually like wedding photographers because they usually remind me of former Russian military or crazy hoarder cat-lady... expressing their pent-up need to control others though their 2 hours of power... But I digress... Kristi is amazing, she actually made the wedding MORE fun and the times we were out in the heat (yes, my friend opted for a summer wedding in Austin) enjoyable. In the end, Katie ended-up with amazing photographs (turns out people look better and take better photos when they are happy and having fun) and I ended-up with another friend. I've been best man in two weddings, a groomsman in at least 15, and an user in probably 10 over the years... including Katie's wedding last year. It's no contest, Kristi is the best wedding photographer I've ever seen. So if you're interviewing photographers, put Kristi in the mix. No offense to my inner amateur photographer, but there is a reason why I don't care about old photos. It's because I'm terrible at taking photos... In stark contrast to myself, there is the brilliance that is Kristi Wright. We hired Kristi to photograph our Austin wedding at the Driskill. She has a way to magically capture moments and feelings, which is why we have gone back to these photos time and time again to relive our wedding. I can feel my wife's hand when I slid the ring on her slender finger. I can taste my first bite into that wedding cupcake. My heart still strikes a stronger beat when I see our first dance over and over again. It is my laptop's wallpaper after all. Kristi's capturing of our wedding has given me a true appreciation for what real, honest to goodness, quality photographs can do for life. Every penny I spent to hire Kristi was worth it. That said, she wasn't expensive at all! As far as comparable options in the Austin area, Kristi definitely keeps a competitive rate. Overall the entire photography portion of our wedding went flawlessly. Kristi keeps things casual, she is down to earth and easy to talk to, but also professional, she knows what shes doing and how to give instruction set up the best shots. During the wedding / reception Kristi called very little attention to herself and yet was still able to capture all the fun and love we were sharing. The after-wedding shots exceeded our expectations as well. She has a great eye and set up some really creative and insightful shots. We have a treasure trove of photos that we will value for our entire lives. Long Version; Our original photographer had complications and canceled on us less than 4 weeks away from the wedding date, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find someone in time. Luckily, I found Nadine from a Yelp search and contacted her right away from all the awesome reviews... I was not disappointed, not only was she available for the day we needed her, but she worked within my very limited budget and made sure she knew exactly what I was looking for. Just about everything that could go wrong, did as far as my wedding was concerned - it was originally supposed to be outdoors at Zilker Park, but of course it rained ALL WEEK and the site was completely flooded and muddy so with just 48 hours left before the wedding day we had to move our location to a friend's home nearly 40 miles away from Zilker. Nadine didn't complain or charge us anything extra to move to a new location, she just showed up and gave us an amazing experience. In just two hours, she was able to capture well over 200 pictures that truly captured the emotions and atmosphere of the wedding. Once we were done, she let us know the final pictures would be ready in 6 to 8 weeks and though I don't know if that's very long or short for turnaround, it was 100% worth the wait - these images are absolutely stunning! I'm not even sure how she got some of the photos she did. She even helped calm me down pre-ceremony when I was getting overly emotional. So professional and warm. The pictures are sublime. As a photographer myself, the photography from my wedding needed to be spectacular. I was drawn in by her honesty and enthusiasm. She did a fabulous job shooting my wedding. Since then a number of my friends have hired her and each wedding album, although being Mary through and through, really seems to capture the essence of the event. Mary's work has a sense of humor and intimacy that most other wedding photographers lack. I've also hired Mary to work with me shooting corporate events and shooting as my back-up when I am unavailable. She is ridiculously responsive, professional and does a remarkable job. Photography is in her blood! I swear she never puts her camera down for more than 5 minutes. Since hiring her to shoot my wedding, we've become close friends. Something about Luxe's portfolio stood out to me from the beginning and after looking at tons of sites of other Austin photographers, I knew Luxe was the right choice for our wedding. I particularly loved how she does just as good with natural light as she does with flash photography -- capturing pretty portraits AND fun reception shots! Jennifer was responsive, fun to work with, kind and took beautiful photos. Plus, her pricing was extremely fair and she provided a HUGE selection of edited images. My mom has a detailed list of all the photos she wanted taken day-of and Jennifer got them all! She seriously didn't miss a shot. Jennifer did so many sweet "extras" that she totally didn't have to do but did. For instance, mom was having a hard time getting a print shop to print one of my bridal photos in the correct size to have displayed at the venue. Her pricing was also completely fair and less than a lot of the big companies I looked at. Usually, I cannot stand pictures of myself. With Lisa, I have beautiful pictures that I love. My bridal portraits were AMAZING. Did I mention, I've never liked pictures of myself, EVER, until Lisa? The wedding photos came out gorgeous, my entire family was so happy. She captured such candid pictures of family and friends and she is wonderful at getting people together quickly and in flattering positions. In the moments right after the ceremony, you have literally 30 minutes to get pictures of the wedding party. We had an enormous wedding party, and Lisa was fast and friendly getting everyone to organize and pose. It's not easy, but she was a rockstar. More than anything, know that you're not getting a junior photographer at a big company. You're getting Lisa, and she's such a talent. Post-wedding, Lisa sent me all of my pictures on discs, copyright-released. She even touched up a lot of them, which she wasn't contracted to do. She's just that cool. (Sidenote: I'm a designer by trade, and she did great work on touch-ups - nothing was done incorrectly.) The discs were sent to me very quickly - they were waiting for me when I got back from the honeymoon. My family had such a wonderful experience, we will use Lisa again for future photography needs.

I had a client who was not so happy with her wedding photographer but was in LOVE with his engagement session shooter. Guess who that was? They loved loved Jenna! I honestly have not had the honor of working with Jenna on the professional level but think its much more important to describe what it's like on a client level. We (my husband and I) are not photogenic people. We hate posing for photos unless we have had something to drink (and by something I mean a lot!). But I knew our time for couple photos on our wedding was limited (though our photographer then did a great job!) and we scheduled this session with Jenna. She wouldn't force us into anything but a little guidance is always appreciated - especially for those of us who DON 'T model you know? She is unique from other wedding photographers that I saw in that her photos portray colors vividly and boldly. We absolutely loved our photos from our engagement shoot and our wedding - most of the important moments were captured in beautifully vivid color. We had an Indian fusion wedding and chose her because we saw another Indian fusion wedding she had done in which we fell in love with her photography style. That said, there is a certain dramatic style and culturally specific type of photos that Indian weddings usually have and I felt that I missed out on some of those types of photos (even though we are not a fan of overly dramatic to begin with and she already adds a good amount of drama to her photos!). There could have been a little more cultural exploration there and of course that will come with her practicing on Indian weddings. Regardless, I am so glad I took a chance on her because we were really happy with the results for a totally reasonable price for wedding photographers. Would certainly recommend her in general! And for Indian weddings, just make sure you work with her to tell and show her exactly what you're looking for, but she can definitely give you the drama you're looking for!

Tiffany took our engagement photos, bridal portraits, and the day of. For our engagement photos, she made us feel comfortable, and my wife and I were able to relax and enjoy ourselves as we got photos all over Austin! Not only does she know great locations, she helps you feel comfortable on camera. Every photo we got was next level, and that wouldn't have been possible without her guidance. Our bridal portraits were tricky because both my wife and I wore dresses, and although we shot our portraits at the same time and in the same location, we didn't want to see eachother dresses until our wedding day. Tiffany helped to make this process flawless, and help us maneuver around each other, all while making each of us look absolutely stunning in every shot she got. Nothing can compare though to her attention to detail and incredible work she did day of our wedding. She provided not only herself but her team as well, having another photographer to be there. In addition, she helped to recommend our videographer, who caught all the moments live for us! We never at any point felt stressed, or that we weren't going to get the shots we asked for.
