Last year one of my closest, dearest friends Katie A (now Katie D) got married and I was in the wedding. Katie and I were both elite yelpers at one time... in fact, we met at an elite yelp event and we were immediately fast friends. Fast forward to last year and her wedding... during the pre-wedding photo session, the photographer and I hit it off (not like that, perv... I was there with my girlfriend and the photographer is happily married). She was just really awesome... confident and decisive but playful and unobtrusive... she made the photographs fun. And I don't usually like wedding photographers because they usually remind me of former Russian military or crazy hoarder cat-lady... expressing their pent-up need to control others though their 2 hours of power... But I digress... Kristi is amazing, she actually made the wedding MORE fun and the times we were out in the heat (yes, my friend opted for a summer wedding in Austin) enjoyable. In the end, Katie ended-up with amazing photographs (turns out people look better and take better photos when they are happy and having fun) and I ended-up with another friend. I've been best man in two weddings, a groomsman in at least 15, and an user in probably 10 over the years... including Katie's wedding last year. It's no contest, Kristi is the best wedding photographer I've ever seen. So if you're interviewing photographers, put Kristi in the mix. And if you need references, I'll gladly put you in touch with Katie. read more

I never gave much value to photos. Sure, I love memories, but in my experience most photos end up in a shoe box, never to be seen again. I took a 10 day trip to Europe 10 years ago and I still have yet to put those prints in an album, much less look at them again. No offense to my inner amateur photographer, but there is a reason why I don't care about old photos. It's because I'm terrible at taking photos... In stark contrast to myself, there is the brilliance that is Kristi Wright. We hired Kristi to photograph our Austin wedding at the Driskill. She has a way to magically capture moments and feelings, which is why we have gone back to these photos time and time again to relive our wedding. I can feel my wife's hand when I slid the ring on her slender finger. I can taste my first bite into that wedding cupcake. My heart still strikes a stronger beat when I see our first dance over and over again. It is my laptop's wallpaper after all. Kristi's capturing of our wedding has given me a true appreciation for what real, honest to goodness, quality photographs can do for life. Every penny I spent to hire Kristi was worth it. That said, she wasn't expensive at all! As far as comparable options in the Austin area, Kristi definitely keeps a competitive rate. Overall the entire photography portion of our wedding went flawlessly. Kristi keeps things casual, she is down to earth and easy to talk to, but also professional, she knows what shes doing and how to give instruction set up the best shots. During the wedding / reception Kristi called very little attention to herself and yet was still able to capture all the fun and love we were sharing. The after-wedding shots exceeded our expectations as well. She has a great eye and set up some really creative and insightful shots. We have a treasure trove of photos that we will value for our entire lives. As a stranger to you, the reader, I don't expect my opinion to be the only that you are going to read, but go ahead and take a look around. There are nothing but 5 star reviews for Kristi from anyone who has worked with her. Do yourself a favor: wedding planning is hard work, but choosing a photographer doesn't have to be. read more

We used Kristi Wight as our wedding photographer this past November. We had interviewed many photographers and were not quite sold until we met Kristi. Not only was she incredibly personable and talented, she wanted to be our photographer and it showed. She showed much interest in me as a bride and would send helpful links and wedding ideas that she knew I would enjoy since I told her about our wedding style. I knew we were in great hands! And I was right! Our engagement session was GORGEOUS!!!! The lighting was spectacular and our pictures were just beautiful. I received a million compliments on that session. Some of the pictures were even submitted into a wedding blog. On the day of our wedding, Kristi and her assistant were incredibly professional. Our wedding photos are just beautiful and she again managed to capture the lighting that I think she should be known for. She also captures emotion incredibly well and I just love looking at all of the emotions on our friends and families faces. I can;t stop looking at our galleries and reliving out wedding day. I highly recommend Kristi, she has talent well above her years and is also very competitive with her rates. read more

I LOVE working with Kristi Wright! I have done just two shoots with her, but they have been amazing! As far as talent goes, Kristi is over-abundantly supplied! Her eye for angle and lighting and all that other stuff is spot on! She is totally fun to be with, easy going, and becomes your friend from the start! I'd get married again, just to have her shoot at my wedding! I'll have to settle for family portraits and headshots! I would definitely recommend her, (and I have), to anyone looking to capture all the special moments in life! Senior portraits, engagements, weddings, babies, etc... read more

Kristi took both headshots for me and photographed a concert for my nonprofit. She is an excellent photographer! I love the headshots, she gave me direction on how to smile, relax my face, position my head and neck and took many different poses, they all turned out so well it was hard to choose which ones I wanted to keep! As a musician good headshots are really important, I highly recommend Kristi for this, she will make you feel at ease and you will have fun working with her during the session. She's also a superb event photographer. I was impressed with how she was able to move around and get some really interesting and amazing shots of the group performing. Kristi has an amazingly creative eye, she's always floating around looking for truly amazing shots. I highly recommend Kristi for your next event or if you need awesome headshots. read more

Kristi is a great photographer. She is a consumate professional and does some of the best work I have seen! I would recommend her to anyone seeking a photographer! read more

Kristi was our wedding photographer, and we were so pleased we asked her to take pictures of our daughter when she was born. Two days ago was our first wedding anniversary, so I went back and looked at all the photos again ,and they were just as wonderful. It was the perfect day for this bride, and looking at these photos, I remember all the reasons why. Even though we didn't give her a lot of traditional moments to work with, she captured all the little things that were important to me. And when our daughter was born, Kristi took the most beautiful photos that will let me remember that perfect, tiny baby. The images were creative, but real, and never lost sight of the fact that it was our daughter that was center stage. I would highly recommend Kristi. It is worth the investment. These events only happen once...well, at least, they don't happen very often ;) read more

Kristi shot my bridals and wedding. For the most part, I am happy with the photos--some of them are phenomenal, especially the ones of just me and the groom and my bridal photos. I felt like the bridesmaid photos in particular lacked creativity. The background of the photos is pretty dreary--a deadish looking landscape-- and I wish she had lined us up in front of a more aesthetically pleasing area--like in front of my venue or in the bridal cottage--we would have been happy to move our stuff to make room if she had asked. The main reason I give three stars is because Kristi was curt with me on several occasions and seemed like there were times when she tolerated me. Via email we were trying to find a place to shoot my bridals in Austin and she would respond with one word answers. It seemed like I was inconveniencing her by contacting her and asking her questions. On the actual day of my bridal shoot everything went off without a hitch and those photos were captured superbly. Kristi gladly took all the photos I asked for and I am very happy with their quality and her use of creativity. On the wedding day we had a photo timeline in place to make things run smoothly. When I asked for extra photos that were not in the timeline, she was visibly annoyed. It took maybe 3 extra minutes to get those photos and we still ended up with plenty of time before the ceremony, but for some reason she was perturbed with my request. One of my bridesmaids expressed that she had a similar interaction where Kristi responded to her asking for a photo with a sarcastic, biting response. On the wedding day, she was overall kind of harsh, but the flip side of that is that she was able to get all of the big family photos I needed and got everyone in line. She captured all of the major events of the day and documented it well. Looking back on my experience, I wish I had picked a photographer who put out really joyful, positive vibes. Even though Kristi is very talented, I would have benefited emotionally from someone who acted like they wanted to be there. For what I paid (over $4,000), I expected her customer service skills to be better. I am still very grateful for my photos, but wish I had met with photographers beforehand to get a feel for who they are and how they would impact my wedding day. read more

We had an excellent experience with Kristi. She was the ultimate professional, respected our time, was sympathetic to the stresses of wedding planning, and helped us focus on the important things (photos are one of them). Perhaps the best praise came from my dad, a professional photographer for 30+ years, who said he was "amazed" at the shots she got. Highly recommended! read more

Kristi is magic. Really, that's all you need to know - she will push you and work with you and then you have the photos of the best day of your lives, and it's everything you want and more. She shot my engagements, my bridals (I still die for them), and my wedding. Amazing use of natural light (which is what I noticed when perusing her portfolio prior to hiring). I have received so many compliments from my friends who NOTICED the use of light, and how really amazing our photos turned out. The brilliance of colors, and just the general happiness and glow of the wedding are now captured thanks to Kristi. Also, (I REALLY appreciated this) - she can work with you on your styling and has recommendations for other vendors in the Austin wedding industry (makeup, hair) - she sent me to the most amazing makeup artist ever (Vixie by Ellie Vixie), and I cannot thank her enough for really bringing the whole shebang together. Additionally, my bridals were the result of EXCELLENT teaming between her and Emily of Bird Dog Wedding. The shots are simply fantastic. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favor, make the complicated process of planning a wedding MUCH easier and hire her. And check out the bamboo print options for pictures, because those are the bomb. read more

Kristi & Andrew are fan-freakin-tastic! I am a naturally nervous human but they made me feel comfortable right from the get go. It's obvious from the start that they know their stuff, they are so organized, communicative, and give excellent advice from their experience that help ease your stress. We used them for both out engagement shoot and our wedding, and let me just say Kristi was better than my wedding planner, she made sure I was comfortable, had everything I could want or need (read champagne), and helped keep everything on schedule. She easily picked up when I was starting to feel uncomfortable and made sure to take charge to help us get through the day. So I recommend her full heartily to anyone who needs a photographer. They are great at capturing the little moments and with more "staged" shots still know how to coach you to make it less awkward feeling/looking. I am not the best at describing why the photos look amazing but can tell you that you won't regret booking her! I normally don't love myself in photos but Kristi & Andrew captured real moments and have given me pictures of myself that I love! So stop reading this review and give them a call now! read more

We have done several photo shoots with Kristi and her photos are truly amazing. She is not one of those photographers who tells you exactly how to pose and to not move a muscle for minutes on end. It all happens very naturally and comfortably. I don't like my picture taken (I'm somewhat shy) but with her it was fun and effortless . The result are photos that are SPECIAL because she has her own style. She also took photos at our little girl's second birthday party. It was so awesome not have to worry about capturing the moments ourselves. We got to enjoy the party and enjoy the moment. We would highly recommend Kristi for any occasion. read more

We got lucky. Kristi did mine and my wife's engagement photos last year. We can be so awkward when it comes to this sort of thing, but Kristi made us feel at ease right away. We had so much fun it felt as though we were longtime friends during the shoot, not strangers meeting for the first time. Not only that, but Kristi was so professional and efficient getting the photos to us. We had a great experience working with Kristi--highly recommend! read more

Pulling off a wedding is a full time job in itself. I wasn't sure where to start. We had a date and a location so I started looking for a photographer. This is a big day right?! I wanted to make sure that I had photos that would capture the essence of the day not only for my memories but for our future generations to come. So... I started googling and there were a lot of great photographers out there each with their own style. Kristi's photos spoke to me. My husband lived in Marfa for a few years while we dated long distance. We have such fond memories of West Texas and that's really where our love grew. I was amazed at Kristi's ability to capture the uniqueness that is Marfa so I reached out and lucky for us she was available for our date! I felt at ease with her immediately. She's super to work with, very responsive, and her prices were comparable with other photographers I'd contacted. I knew that Kristi was the right photographer for me when she replied to an email pointing out the sunset time of our wedding day (a year away) and suggesting that we move it up 30 minutes to make sure we captured some shots downtown while the lighting was still optimal. I had actually already checked the sunset time and I appreciated that attention to detail but I didn't even think about being downtown and how the sunlit reflects through the streets. We took her advice and moved up the ceremony and truth be told our downtown shots are my absolute favorites. We are big music fans and we have great shots outside of Moody that I love. My hubby is not one that likes a lot of attention placed on him (opposites do attract, I'm a ham) but Kristi's style is so easy going and natural that not only was he able to relax but he actually enjoyed taking all of the different shots during the day. Thru Kristi's recommendations we booked our officiant and a "day of" wedding planner (venue required). We wanted a different kind of wedding than your traditional, run of the mill wedding and Kristi gave us smart advice on little things we could do to make it extra unique and special to us. One of the things she suggested after talking with me was that we got ready, together, just the two of us at our house. It was perfect for us - not rushed, we were relaxed and listening to music, drinking champagne... We're coming up on our 2nd anniversary and we still comment to each other how thankful we are that we got ready together, alone, in our own house. It really set the tone for the rest of the evening and I would have never thought of it had Kristi not mentioned it. I really felt like she took the time to get to know us and our desires ahead of time. She was so much more than "just" a wedding photographer to us. And of course, the day comes and goes in a whirlwind but Kristi was super prompt getting us shots back so we could live it all again. It's a big day; a wedding is a huge investment of time, money, and effort. Best advice I could give to a future bride is find someone that you connect with, that will give you the time you deserve, listen to how you want the day to go. You'll know when you feel the connection. For us Kristi was just phenomenal! read more

Kristi Wright is the BEST! My husband and I were so lucky to have found Kristi and have her take our engagement/wedding pictures! Words can not express how pleased we are with her work. My husband and I had a vision of what we wanted our photographs to look like and she nailed it! She does a FANTASTIC job of capturing all of those special moments. We were so busy the day of our wedding that we weren't able to see everything that was going on but Kristi captured everything and we are forever grateful for that! She also has great communication with her clients. We highly recommend Kristi to anyone that is looking for an OUTSTANDING photographer! read more

My husband and I had a very small ceremony in December 2013 - just us, Kristi, and our officiant. We found Kristi very approachable and loved her style. Her enthusiasm on the day of the wedding was infectious and we truly treasure the way she managed to capture our special event. read more

I always knew that choosing a wedding photographer would be just as important as my wedding dress and great food. I spent almost 9 months looking for the "wright" photographer and the "wright" price. I found all that I was looking for and more in Kristi Wright. Her photographs are EXCEPTIONAL. I look through my album and relive every moment that was captured. Her photographs are emotional and honest. They are beautiful without being pretentious. Her style tells a story and all of the photographs seemed to capture exactly what my husband and me were feeling at those moments. But Kristi acted as so much more than just a photographer. She helped me schedule my wedding day and guide me through the stress of it all. She is incredibly kind and makes those around her feel very at ease. On the day of my wedding, Kristi was great. The assistant she brought fit right in. They even joined in on the CatchPhrase fun that morning! I enjoyed that day and didn't have to worry about Kristi at all. She did a great job wrangling family and the bridal party and keeping us on time. And, I felt like she genuinely enjoyed being a part of my day. After the wedding, we received our photos in a timely manner and they were more than we could have every imagined. But the most stand out piece of work was the album. It is just spectacular and lovely. Don't make the same mistake I did and spent months searching for the perfect wedding photographer because Kristi is just "wright." read more

Kristi was fantastic to work with, and took the most beautiful pictures of our wedding day. She went above and beyond anything I expected from wedding photographer: she consulted with me very early on to give her advice for capturing the best light and getting the best pictures on the day of the wedding; when our venue went bankrupt three months before the wedding, she used her contacts to find a list of local venues that had openings on our date; she kept us updated on the weather the day of our (outdoor) wedding and had great advice for dealing with the rain and alternative places to hold the ceremony if the weather was too bad. We cannot recommend her highly enough! read more

Kristi photographed my October wedding, and I could not be happier with the results. She's a breeze to work with, fun, funny, and has a great photographic eye. My husband and I are somewhat camera-shy, and she made us feel completely as ease. Her shots are beautiful....from the lighting to the colors to the artistic viewpoint. She was definitely the best investment we made for our wedding. Would recommend her to anyone! read more

Kristi shot our engagements and wedding photos and we and both our families are absolutely thrilled with how they turned out. I don't even feel the need to go into detail because her work really speaks for itself (Exhibit A: http://www.kristiwrightphotography.com/hotel-van-zandt-engagement-lp/) That being said, I would definitely recommend her and will call her in the future when we're ready for a family photo session at home (I think she would be amazing at this!). Flowers and cake were not important to me; having gorgeous photos was one of my top priorities for our day. How many times in your life do you have a professional photographer capturing you and your loved ones looking your absolute best? I reviewed the websites and Instagram accounts of several Austin and Houston photographers and really honed in on Kristi's work. She is a true artist in my opinion. Her photos showed her ability to capture the mood and romance, and she is a genius with natural lighting. There were other photographers who were super well-reviewed and charged more for their wedding package, and while their photos were often vibrant and included lots of super hi-def shots of everyone having a blast at the reception, I was looking for someone who could do timeless, artistic photos that I would want framed in my home. For our engagements I described my vision as wanting something straight out of a black & white Ralph Lauren Romance perfume ad. That was a tall order but she 100% delivered (see our shots at the link above). I could not be more satisfied with our photos. read more

Beautiful pictures! Kristi took our engagement photos and was the photographer for our wedding. She came up with a creative concept for the engagement photos in a place that was special for us and helped us to feel comfortable in front of the camera. The pictures were great! As for the wedding, I could not have been happier with the product. She truly captured the spirit and fun of the event! The way she uses light is really special and the bridal portraits are beautiful--classic and romantic. It was EXACTLY what I had hoped for! read more

I booked Kristi for my wedding and I'm so glad I did. The pictures are beautiful and I couldn't be happier with them. She was very professional--she offered help with making a wedding day timeline and was also willing to change things around for me when I had specific requests. She really made the day look even more glamorous than it was. Hah! Thanks Kristi! read more

While I am sure Kristi is a nice person and a talented artist, my experience with her was the most stressful part of my wedding. Her negative attitude was apparent from the first few emails when I was trying to plan the reception. On my wedding day, she constantly rolled her eyes at my family members, she told me she flat out "would not do certain pictures bc it was too traditional" and she made me feel like a nuisance rather than a paying client. Many of my guests commented on her demeanor, as well as the event staff, and it brought a dark cloud to the day, as she seemed annoyed and angry the whole time, even pushing some of my guests out the way. There was also no apology when she took us all out in to a muddy field before the ceremony and I got mud got all over the back of my dress. It was overall a very negative/unprofessional experience and I would not wish for another bride to have the same experience. The wedding is meant to be a happy and joyous day, and while she did not ruin our wonderful day, she did put a damper on it. I felt she acted as if I was a burden to her. It was really disappointing and though I can sympathize if Kristi is having a bad day/month, I don't think it is fair to take it out on a bride who is having a once in a lifetime experience. Kristi may do this every day, but I do not, and I did not feel that my voice, happiness, or satisfaction mattered at all. read more

I'm not really sure where to start when describing how amazing Kristi truly is. Kristi had photographed two of my best friends' weddings so I already knew how great of a photographer she was, but also how great she was to work with. She was one of the first people to send me a message on facebook saying congratulations and offered to help with suggestions and recommendations of vendors in the area. I let her know we were getting married in Mexico and she sent several recommendations of venues in the area we were looking - one of which we ending up picking. I knew we needed to have Kristi be there for our big day, there are a lot of uncertainties planning a wedding from afar but the photographs were one thing I was not willing to risk. Kristi did not disappoint. She sent me timelines, questions, suggestions, scouted the area before the day of to see where she could get the best photo ops, she did everything ahead of time so that the day of was so easy. We had some weird lighting during our first dance so she got us to go outside to reshoot, it was just the two of us under some outdoor string lights and those turned out to be some of my favorites (she can make anything work!). She worked her booty off getting some of the most amazing pictures - I get chills every time I look at them. She made not only me feel completely at ease, but my husband as well. I think he honestly enjoyed having his picture taken thanks to Kristi's easy going personality. I could not have been happier with the way the photos turned out - they are absolutely stunning and I can't thank Kristi enough for capturing our day. She is incredible and I couldn't speak more highly of her! read more
