I am giving OBV 2 Stars for their (eventual) customer service. I would give the property we stayed…read moreat at ZERO. We booked a stay at an OBV property in Lincoln City during in June of 2023 for our anniversary. In hindsight, they clearly used the "realtor filter" for the photos to advertise this property on their website. While the location of the property is excellent, the home itself, as my wife called it, is "lipstick on a pig". The owners have done some things to improve the home, but really its just window dressing. Between the poorly patched walls and ceilings, the slap dash painting, the falling downs shelves in the master closet, and the poor craftsmanship on the updates, it is clear this house was in poor shape before the remodel, but still has a ways to go. In spite of this, had the house been clean when we arrived, our stay would have been MUCH more agreeable. Right off the bat we could not enter the home because the battery for the keycode panel was dead. We had to call OBV to access the physical key box just to get in. Once inside it was evident that the house had not been cleaned in preparation for our arrival, but was also in need of a deep cleaning. - The bathroom was filthy! Urine and hair around the base, and back of the toilet. Fecal stains on the underside of the toilet seat. There was hair all over the shower. - Both bedrooms had not been changed out. There was a ton of hair on the sheets. A blood stain on the comforter in the master, and some sort of shmutz on the extra comforter in the closet. Thankfully we brought our own pillows, and were able to find clean blankets in the guest room to get us through the night. - The windows, screens, and shades were extremely dusty and dirty, and the slider door track was so dirty the door was difficult to open and close. - There was layer of dust on all the window sills, and dust caked the furnace return vent. When return is located right next to the couch in the living room, its hard to miss. We contacted customer service that evening upon arrival. The OBV rep was very patient, and understanding about our situation, but could not have their cleaning service sent out until the morning. No showers for us after a 5+ hour drive, and an afternoon at the beach. The cleaning service arrived right on time the next morning right at 9am. The housekeeper was extremely friendly, and thorough. Along with clean sheets, she gathered up all the bedding, and later brought us freshly cleaned bedding. Thank you, Winter! The remainder of the week I spent time each day on the phone with their customer service, requesting that our 1st day in the property get comp'd. I explained to them, had the property been a hotel, we would have been offered another room, or had the room comp'd. Finally, on our last day, we received a call from an OBV Manager, Nick Young. I will say, Nick was very understanding, friendly, and willing to help us out with our request to have our first day comp'd. Had this been their response on day one this review would have read a bit differently. The property still needs some help, but the overall experience would been much more positive. I commend Nick, Kate, and Melissa at OBV for their commitment to customer service in the face of a challenging situation.

Our experience with Oregon Vacation Homes was extremely disappointing…read more When we arrived, the house was dirty and had an unpleasant odor. We tried to make the best of it, but the biggest issue was that there was no hot water. We reported it right away, and someone came out, looked at it, and told us it had been fixed. Unfortunately, it still didn't work. After contacting the rental company again, they were unwilling to offer a meaningful solution. Eventually, another technician came out and informed us that the water heater was actually broken and couldn't be repaired during our stay. At that point, we had no choice but to leave the house and end our vacation two days early. The only positive part of this trip was the time we spent together as a family. It's unfortunate that the condition of the home and the lack of customer service from Oregon Vacation Homes overshadowed what should have been a relaxing vacation. We cannot recommend staying with this company based on our experience.

I liked how they offered lots of little branded aneminites such as shower packs, kitchen packs and hot tub cleaner. The only thing that I didn't care for was the very strict check in/check out times. Check in is at 4 and you get access by text only. Check out is promptly 10 AM! That seems extremely early especially for the prices you are paying. I asked for either an early check in or late check out and was denied which is fine but if checkout were a little later it would've been extremely helpful.

Unacceptable property conditions. Even worse customer service…read more We rented a vacation home managed by Meredith Lodging on the Oregon Coast, and the experience was appalling. Upon arrival, we found pet stains, a strong urine odor, feces on the wall, and exposed carpet tack strips--a serious safety hazard, especially with a young child in the home. This wasn't a matter of personal preference. The property was filthy and unsafe. We contacted Meredith Lodging immediately. They didn't respond until the following day. Their after-hours support consisted of an overseas call center that was unable to resolve the situation. They eventually relocated us to another property, but insisted we pay for the replacement before receiving a refund for the unused nights at the original property. They also refused to refund the night we were forced to spend in those conditions, a situation that could have been avoided with competent after-hours customer service. Despite saying they have this, you get deflected to an out-of-country call center who can only tell you that someone will call you back after 9am the next day. And unbelievably, they even tried to charge us a *cleaning fee* for the filthy property they had rented to us. You can't make this stuff up. The next property was cleaner, but also had a bad knob on the stove that leaked gas. Again, safety is a low priority for these folks. Here's the thing: Problems happen. What separates a reputable company from a bad one is how they handle those problems. Meredith Lodging had every opportunity to acknowledge the situation, take responsibility, and make things right. Instead, they demonstrated a stunning lack of accountability and customer care. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable. Just a clean, safe property and fair treatment when they failed to provide one. If you're a TRAVELER, I'd strongly caution you against booking with Meredith Lodging. And if you're a property OWNER considering hiring them to manage your investment, I'd think twice. If this is how they maintain properties, handle guest safety concerns, and treat paying customers, I'd have serious questions about entrusting them with my home. A company's reputation isn't built when everything goes right. It's built by how they respond when things go wrong. Meredith Lodging failed spectacularly.

Last year we stayed in the Salt and Sea which was a wonderful experience. Knowing that, we returned this year to stay in another place. This place has an incredible view of the ocean as the base of the house sits on the sand. We saw whales and many ships and boats while there. The houses are very nicely decorated and very clean. The price is beyond right as is the attention given by the staff. Thank you again Della for all you did for us while we were there. Shalleshan: Where the Mountains Meet the Ocean and Heaven Touches the Coast…read more I'll be honest. I'd watched a video of someone complaining about the coffee, and another lady battling the wind as it whipped across the beach. I arrived wondering what kind of experience or deal I was really getting myself into. Was this place all it was cracked up to be? Then I arrived. And just like that, my doubts disappeared. Shalleshan took my breath away. From the spa and golf course to the beach and surrounding resort, this place was nothing short of spectacular. The accommodations overlook the inlet, with sweeping views that stretch all the way to the mighty Pacific Ocean. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, open decks, and million-dollar views. Suddenly, I felt like I had wandered onto an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, except I was the one lucky enough to be standing there. The landscape unfolds like a painting. Emerald-green fairways sweep down toward the bay, where the water meets the rugged coastline. Beyond it, the Pacific rolls and crashes against the shore, sending waves tumbling into white foam while seagulls glide overhead, calling out against the sound of the surf. There's something almost magical about it all. The salty ocean breeze brushes your face as you wander barefoot across the sand, the cool grains shifting beneath your feet. The beach leads you toward rugged rocks, and beyond them, the forested mountains rise into the coastal mist. Somewhere above, an eagle cries out, reminding you that this wild stretch of Oregon still belongs to nature. Here, the scenery changes with every glance. One moment, you're watching the waves roll in from the ocean. The next, you're gazing across the peaceful inlet, surrounded by towering evergreens and mountain air. It's a place where the beach, the coast, and the mountains come together in one breathtaking panorama. And suddenly, that coffee complaint doesn't seem quite so important anymore. Sometimes, you have to put down the phone, step away from the reviews, and experience a place for yourself. Because no video, photograph, or online opinion can truly capture the feeling of standing somewhere this beautiful. Shalleshan isn't just a destination. It's an experience. A place to slow down, breathe deeply, listen to the ocean, and remember that some of life's greatest luxuries aren't things you can buy. They're moments you get to experience. Five stars for the scenery, the atmosphere, and the unforgettable coastal beauty. If you're looking for a little Pacific Northwest magic, Shalleshan delivers it in waves. And if the coffee isn't perfect? Well, there's always the ocean to wake you up.

The staff we interacted with were all so kind and lovely, but unfortunately, the overall hotel experience fell short of my expectations. For starters, I don't think it's clear on the website that the hotel isn't one large building. We were placed in room 163 and felt so far removed from the main hotel experience. Honestly, the area felt more like an apartment complex than a resort. We paid for a King Deluxe Suite, but the room felt more like a motel room. The furniture was outdated, and it just wasn't what we had envisioned for the price. Our room also overlooked other rooms rather than the beautiful views we were expecting, which was disappointing. I also wasn't aware that the spa was across the road from the hotel. I had assumed it would be right outside the hotel, so having to drive over was unexpected. That said, the spa itself was wonderful, and I would absolutely visit again! Overall, I really wanted to love our stay, but the hotel accommodations left much to be desired. I think more transparency on the website about the property layout, room locations, and what guests can expect would go a long way. And when influencers are paid to stay at the property, I think it's important to show the full picture, not just the upgraded rooms and experiences they may receive. Not every guest is going to have that same experience, and people deserve to know what they're actually paying for.
