We needed a getaway and ocean house was on our list! Ocean house is an 8 bed, bed and breakfast in Newport, Oregon. We enjoyed daily complimentary breakfast (my fav was the French toast) and afternoon cookies fresh baked. Our room was beautiful with a large jetted tube and dual head shower. The room was the cleanest hotel room I've ever seen. Robes were in the room for our use. The staff was amazing! Very sweet ladies running the front desk. My biggest issue was the bed itself. The bed was horrible and almost knocked down a star for me. If you like super firm this is the room for you - however, it left me with back pain and I didn't feel rejuvenated at all after the trip due to restless nights . We will be back - just in a different room with a different bed! read more

Secluded and peaceful BNB. Check-in was a breeze, we were greeeted by the friendly staff and escorted to our room. Had a freshly baked cookie to add to the our welcome! Our room was the honeymoon suite which had the best view overlooking the property grounds and the beach. The bedroom had a huge bed, was clean and stylish and the bathroom was amazing and came with multiple shower heads and a two person jacuzzi. The property grounds were well maintained and had several seating areas where we could sit and take in the views of nature and the waves crashing below. Staircase gave easy access to the beach. The hotel is right next to several private homes, but it still had that resort/retreat feel. Our reservations included breakfast which was freshly made for us. The staff made sure they knew if we had any allergies to inform the chef for our breakfast. The breakfast was exceptional and a tasty treat. An open fridge and pantry was well stocked with variety of free drinks and popcorn. Overall our stay was very relaxing and peaceful. We felt very well taken care of with a wonderful staff, excellent food and serene surroundings that made our visit memorable. read more

We have gone to the Ocean House many times. It is a good choice for couples seeking some quiet time at the coast. There was a change in management since our last visit and my opinion has shifted a little. I found the management very accommodating when an accident greatly delayed our arrival. I very much approve of their service. The food isn't as good as it was before - it was honestly average. Not bad, by any stretch, but lacking the special touches that take a meal to the next level. One example was breakfast burritos, but without sour cream, avocado, lime crema, or similar. Solid, but not special. Still a good choice and reconvened, overall. read more

I left a more exhaustive review on Expedia, but suffice it to say that Ocean House is one of the most special places I have been to lately. That says a lot, because everyone calls me a total 'hotel snob', and I'm often disappointed by very pricy 5 star hotels. I have had the good fortune of having stayed in hundreds of amazing hotels and properties in many countries around the world, and this little gem, not two hours from our home, is one of my favorites now. Perfect location, immaculately kept, friendly staff and and a unique, personal vibe, not some corporate cookie-cutter BS. If you have a chance to go, you won't regret it. Amazing! I'm hesitant to write this review simply because I don't want it to get crowded. The service and breakfast in the morning was incredible. Delicious my son had a blast in the amazing bathtub. Walking distance from the beach. Have a gorgeous view from everywhere on the property. Including the infinity pool/spa. Have little fire pits to sit by and enjoy at night. This was the most incredible vacation due in part to the amazing beauty and accommodations that were beyond perfect. The staff is so kind, which makes for an even better journey. I must say that Nancy made our entire stay special and comfortable. She is so sweet and efficient. Our check in was simple, and the entire home is just gorgeous. The decor is up to date, and everything is very clean. Our room, Windswept, was everything we imagined, and the views were breathtaking. The linens were comfortable, and there is an extra blanket in the armoire in case you get cold. The ceiling fan provides a perfect amount of air movement, and we loved the ability to open two windows to be able to hear the incredible waves. There is also the ability to have music piped into your room - lovely. The bathroom was spa-like, and it was outfitted so well. And then there are the breakfasts. Holy Moly! Incredibly inventive menus with perfect portion sizes. There are choices for those who do not want the main offering as well. Eggs Benedict, omelets, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and breakfast scrambled - and they are brought to your table with a smile and good cheer. The orange juice is fresh and delicious, and there is also coffee and a large variety of teas. Yum!!!! The deck is beautiful and offers incredible views of the forest and ocean. We actually saw a bald eagle! There are many private sitting spaces around the property to enjoy wave watching. The staircase to the beach is well-maintained and offers some spots to catch your breath (there are a lot of stairs). Then, there is afternoon wine hour and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!!!! This B&B is emasculate. We were met by the owner, who was very courteous and full of energy. Showed us the accommodations that we could use, if we wanted. Our room has everything you would want in your space. My wife loved the bathroom, open and spacious. Huge picture window the view the ocean and a relaxing gas fireplace also. Lovely location with beach access and views of the water. We've stayed before in the larger room and more recently in the Windswept. Next time back, we will book the larger room again, as we found the furnishing in the smaller Windswept to be cluttered and sharp edged. Food is, honestly, average. We were traveling over Thanksgiving, and stayed one night on Thanksgiving Day at the Ocean House. The room and staff are amazing. Excellent views from the room and common areas. This is a wonderful place. Very private, and very nice. We came here for our 10 year anniversary and stayed in the Sea Rose room. This is by far our favorite room! It has a wonderful sunroom which is perfect for relaxing or reading. We had a death in the family which caused us to check in a day late. Nancy and her husband, helped to make sure that we were comfortable and greeted with open arms. They helped make sure we were taken care of for breakfast, (which although we didn't get to eat, the smells were amazing! Definitely plan on being there for breakfast.) And told us how to get to the beach. We ended up coming back from the Sand Bar and Grill, to relax in the sunroom. The beds were comfortable and the place was wonderful. WOW, this bed and breakfast was so warm, welcoming, with phenomenal views/beach access! The staff was friendly and accommodating; for example we got delayed on the road and they were accommodating to let us check in late (FYI they have a set time for check-in and I believe it was from 4-6 pm?). Also they are accommodating for cooking a dairy free breakfast, without compromising the flavor! We stayed for a night to surf and explore a bit more south of the OR coast. Booking was a breeze. Check-in they were accommodating has my surf rental was at 330 and check-in at 4 - they allowed us to come early to drop our things which I greatly appreciate! Makki (hopefully I spelled her name correctly ) was SO sweet, she explained everything perfectly to us, showed us around, and started us off to a perfect stay. We stayed in the pacific room, and it had everything we needed. Including a heater The only thing is this room's balcony is attached to the common balcony so, really not an "add-on". Now , chef Joe you didn't have to season those eggs like that, had me scraping the plate. Overnight they leave out cookies and they were so good! These a beverage station that stays open all day and night. Now, the ocean front - we couldn't see it from our room - we could hear the ocean. Even at the view spots the ocean view is a bit obstructed. However, beach access is right there to go down. Which brings me to the surfing. Perfect place to stay if you want to surf. Ossie's surf shop is right behind the hotel and has rentals. Literally, we rented surf boards and walked across the highway to the beach access. Overall a great stay and would recommend! read more

Can't say enough about this place! Great view, clean and comfortable rooms, and all the amenities I would want, plus more! Our room was called "white cap" and it had the best view as recommended by Bill, the interim innkeeper. He was super accommodating and helpful. They have amazing brownies, with complimentary wine, soda, and tea. Our room had all the usual soaps, plus makeup remover, and even a loofah and bath salts for our two person jacuzzi tub. The fireplace was so nice as well! Love it! Would highly recommend this place. I am so picky about hotels and dread going to them wondering if it will be clean or comfortable. This place def gets 5 stars... oh, and beach access. It's amazing, plus our room view is like being right on the ocean. Ocean House is amazing. The views are stunning, our room (The Cottage) was quite big, incredibly easy access to the beach, the breakfast was delicious, and the folks that work there are friendly. We were so happy with our stay there, I would stay there again, and I would highly recommend the B&B to friends and family. The grounds were quite nice with several places to sit outside and just look at the beach/ocean. There was even an adorable kitty cat wandering around the grounds. It is a bit on the pricey side but it is worth it! My husband and I are a bit shy so we opted to stay in The Cottage which has a separate entrance and is set away from the other rooms at the B&B. Plus, where we were celebrating our upcoming anniversary we wanted our stay to be as remote as possible. The Cottage even has its own little parking area set apart from the others which we found to be quite funny! The room is quite big, there is a king sized bed, has a living room area, a small kitchen area, and a large oversized tub/jacuzzi in the bathroom. We were impressed with the fact that the fridge was stocked with water, tea, coffee, popcorn, and soda. The main house is also stocked with the same items but has bananas, freshly baked cookies, and wine. The cookies were fantastic and I really enjoyed the hot water/tea that was always available. My husband was also a fan of the cookies, he was quite funny, sneaking over to the main house to bring back more of them for our room. The one and only reason that I am not giving the B&B five stars is because of the breakfast setup. There is one serving, it is at 9am, and you have to sit at tables with other folks staying at the B&B. I am sure that many folks would love that but we were fairly uncomfortable with it. We are a bit on the shy/reserved side and didn't really enjoy having to chat with strangers so early in the morning. Plus, we are not big fans (especially my husband) of having breakfast so early in the morning. That being said, the breakfast was good. There was one morning where my husband didn't like the breakfast as they made a crab quiche. They do tell folks when they see them what the breakfast for the next day is and make sure they like it but I guess we missed them that day. If you stay there I highly suggest checking in with them regarding breakfast as they do only have one choice per day. One other quick note, the rooms do not have a television. We were OK with that, we had our laptop and took full advantage of hulu.com while we were there. My girl surprised me with a weekend getaway since I'd been so overworked. It was just what I needed. We stayed in the cottage room and had a pretty good (minus a few trees) view of the water. The room was in great shape and everything was kitschy and cute. Great, great, great service from Craig and his wife Dawn. They are friendly, hospitable and knowledgable about the area (Dawn is also an incredible cook, her French toast was awesome, as were her from scratch made cookies). Ample supply of coffee and tea incase you need a pick me up at odd hours too! They're also located next to the lighthouse (walkable) and steps away from the beach. Four of us spent three nights at this beautiful B and B last week. The Inn itself was absolutely beautiful. The rooms we stayed in had a gorgeous view of the beach and the grounds. There really wasn't anything that the owners neglected when it came to amenities. Beach towels, chairs, ice machine, coffee, tea, soda, wine, homemade cookies, indoor and outdoor spaces were available all day and evening. We even saw whales and bald eagles from the outer deck. read more

I can't imagine any less than 5 stars for this place. You can see the amazing coastline perfectly through the trees. The pathways to the firepit, the cozy seating areas, the wonderful host, Tara, I believe that was her name. What a treat this was along with heading down to the port for some fresh fish at the "Local Ocean" restaurant/market. Well, it was fantastic. If someone gave it a 3 star for a bad waffle, I'll gladly take a bad waffle to stay here again, however, we had a tasty egg dish and potatoes with fresh juice. read more

Stayed with my wife. Absolutely beautiful house. Very well decorated and comfortable. The bed was memory foam and very comfortable as well. As a young person, you can get turned off my many B&Bs because they have doilies and feel like Grandmas house (not a good thing). This B&B has a great feel, clean airy and open, and was perfect. This was our first time staying here and we were so glad we did! The place is beautifully maintained with a nice deck and gardens with places to sit. The rooms are well-appointed & decorated, and the simple touches like a little loofah and even bathrobes in the bathroom, a fireplace in our room, an ice maker, amazing views,easy beach access. AMAZING homemade cookies, great breakfasts and friendly, warm hosts, Craig & Dawn, made for a very pleasant stay. They even provided some stainless steel water bottles and beach towels for guests, which we thought was very considerate. Dawn gave us suggestions for good restaurants and boy, did she nail it. (Local Ocean and Asiatico were fantastic!) I should also mention how good they were from the beginning when we were making our reservations - super accommodating and great at communicating with us. This place is A-MAZING! The views are gorgeous! There is always cookies in the dining room, wine, water and soda readily available. We got a room with a TUB and a fireplace which was perfect during off season. My only warning is that you will never be able to stay in a hotel again, Ocean House spoils you. read more

This place deserves 5 stars mainly based on the fact that Dawn made sure to accommodate my pregnancy morning sickness by making me toast early before breakfast and even changing my breakfast from what was planned in order to not make me sick. I'm very grateful for her understanding! Otherwise the view is beautiful from the Sea Rose room. It has a sun room! We had a Bon fire out on their deck and could have done it on the beach too if we wanted. They have firewood available to use. If you want to walk all the way out to the ocean in the winter, bring your rain boots because you need to cross a stream. Dawn says it's not too deep in the summer. We are so thankful to Craig and Dawn at Ocean House for their hospitality and wonderful food! This was the vacation we didn't know we needed! Everything from the cupboard stocked with boardgame to the oceans views from our room, deck, and patio made this the perfect weekend getaway to the Oregon coast. This place is beautiful! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay there. It is a very comfortable B and B and very spacious. I have to say that it was the most comfortable bed I ever slept in. The views are amazing with easy beach access. They have homemade cookies and wine available at your leisure. The only reason it did not get 5 stars in our opinion is that there was a highly suggested time of arrival and a mandatory time for breakfast. We understand the owners need to have a schedule and want to serve a fresh breakfast but we also understand that the guest are on vacation and would appreciate some flexibility.
