View of the beach from the Chinook Room. It is awesome!
Jake C.

This is a great place to stay. Let me get that out of the way first. I wanted to enjoy a day at the beach and try something new. This is a building with 5 rooms. I chose the Chinook room. It was amazing! Fireplace and comfortable seating. Small table for 2. View can't be beat of the ocean through large windows. Bathroom has a neat sink and shower heads tall enough for my 6'5" frame. That's the room, but let's back up a bit. It is a bed and breakfast. In the covid-era, it is handled differently. You are shown a breakfast menu when you check in so changes can be made if you have dietary restrictions. You then go upstairs to your room. If you want wine at some point or a soda, it is available downstairs. You just ask! Breakfast is brought to outside of your room at 8:30am. It was pretty good the day my GF and I were there. There is a firepit outside that was going for a little, but it rained a bit, so we didn't hang out by it. We did walk down through the beach access and walked on the beach, though. Is this place perfect? It is close. There are blinds for the large windows, but they are white so if it is sunny, expect your morning to be fairly bright. I didn't see any darkening curtains. And... well, the rest was pretty much perfect. This is a great place to stay. There are vacancies during the week and it will be a great treat foe yourself and your partner. It is built for couples and it doesn't disappoint. I would absolutely stay here again.

Nice warm switch-on has fireplace/stove

Beautiful place on the cliff above Agate Beach in Newport with 5 guest rooms each with their own bathroom. The view from our room, the Yaquina room, was very very nice especially on the stormy and cold weekend we were in Newport. We snuggled into the seats facing the beach, had the gas fireplace on which kept the room plenty warm, and listened to and watched the pounding surf. All while having complimentary coffee and tea, and later that day we had some wine too. The owner is very friendly without being in your face. Too bad she put the place up for sale, because maybe it will no longer be available as a B&B when sold? The breakfast was served at 8:30am and pleasant, I did not enjoy it as much as my husband because I did not quite care for the texture of the crustless salmon quiche. But that is just a matter of my tastebuds. The whole place is warm and inviting, clean and fun. No tv in the room, no kids under 12, all very nice to unwind and re-connect with my husband and the beautiful scenery of the Oregon coast

This is now our favorite place to stay in Newport, it overlooks the ocean through a window of large pine trees. There's an easy walking trail to the beach. The grounds are so beautiful and make you feel so relaxed and appreciated. The rooms are impeccable and decorated in the theme of their name - ours was the Chinook room. The owner, Dee, makes you feel like family, she bakes fresh cookies each day and does a killer breakfast!! Nothing was overlooked - every need tended to. A little added bonus - she offers wine each evening, all free of charge. She's wonderful! We extended our one night stay to two because we were so comfortable and relaxed. We'll definitely be back.

I can't say enough of how much my husband and I loved this place. We came on our honeymoon and are so glad we chose Tyee Lodge. The breakfasts are delicious, the view was wonderful, and the bed was the most comfortable we stayed in our entire trip. If we come back to the coast, this is definitely the place we'll be staying at.

We love the Tyee Lodge! Our room and view from it, was amazing, great ocean view. Very comfortable common space, plenty of room. Dee is a wonderful hostess and an excellent cook

This place is a little hidden gem along the Oregon coast in new port! This was a "happen upon". The room was so cute and romantic with a lovely view to wake up to. The bed was very comfortable! Cozy fireplace (gas) was perfect!! Quick beach access down a small walk way. The owner was lovely. Great breakfast granted my request for decaf coffee in minutes! Comfortable shared common room definitely will return again and again. Reasonably price for the location . Absolute gem!

Lawn behind Tyee Lodge with a great ocean view and fire pit behind the adirondack chairs.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the Yaquina Room at the Tyee Lodge. If you are looking for peace and quiet with beautiful ocean views, plus delicious breakfasts, this is the place to stay! Dee was so nice and considerate of our comfort throughout the entire stay. Her breakfasts were different each morning (pecan French toast, omelets, eggs Benedict) plus other wonderful selections of yogurt, fruit cup, bacon, juices and more. We enjoyed her yummy freshly baked cookies each afternoon with coffee/tea and complimentary wines and popcorn whenever we wanted them. The location is easy to find off of Hwy 101 but it is far enough off of 101 that you can't hear any traffic at all. We slept so well with the sound of the ocean waves and stayed toasty with the gas fireplace. A short walk down the back of the lodge takes you to Agate Beach where you might see surfers, paragliders or just a few people looking for agates on the beach. It felt like our own private beach. We definitely want to go back there and experience it in the other seasons of the year. The town of Newport and Nye Beach has lots of fun places to shop or explore and really great restaurants.

The view down by the beach! There is a path that goes down the hill to the water! It goes right down from Tyee Lodge!

Had to add a bit more- our hosts were Mike & Vickie, who were innkeepers while the owner, Dee, was out of town.

I remember…read moreparking at the paid lot and admiring the open arched bridge, that beautiful rocky cove of a beach, and the quintessential lighthouse view. We took the trail up to the lighthouse and saw the lightkeeper's home on the way. There is a fence all around and it is not open to the public, but there were people sitting on the porch! We realized it was a bed and breakfast and I was heartbroken not to have known about it before as we certainly would have included a stay there in our vacation plans. I tucked it away as a hopeful wish for someday.... Well, little did I know at the time, we ended up moving to Oregon a few years later! As soon as we were settled, I determined we must make a weekend trip and stay at the lighthouse. We finally did and it lived up to every one of my lofty expectations. The lightkeeper's house is accessed via a private road, and there are a few parking spaces near the house, but it was pretty tight. Upon arrival, we were greeted and brought to our room, with a quick tour of the home and some suggestions of things to see or do while there. We booked one of the Mariner's rooms as they have such a gorgeous view of the ocean. The bedroom and bathroom inside were definitely small, but that is to be expected in a historic home, and no matter as the bed was comfortable as could be! Of note, some rooms share a bathroom so check while booking if you have a preference. Once we'd checked it out, we stopped by the cheese and fruit out for guest's arrival on our way to the beach, and they were so sweet to give us a little box so we could pack some goodies to enjoy on the sand. They had wine, too! We spent a perfect hour or so at the beach, then headed into Florence for dinner. This or Yachats are the closest city for meals (about 20 minutes either direction) so either eat before you check in, or plan to go back out. They do have a kitchen that is available for guests, so you could bring an easy to prepare meal. Once we'd returned, we spent some more time at the beach, then relaxed in our room until dark. Then we grabbed a flashlight and headed on up the trail to admire the lighthouse in the night. This was such a unique experience and the highlight of our stay. You can see how far out the light beams to sea, and we hiked up a bit behind the lighthouse, so we were right at the level with the rotating light. Incredible! Back in our room, we cracked the windows for a lovely ocean breeze and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Perfection. In the morning, I took a little time to read through the ghost stories they have collected (too wimpy to read at night!), we wandered around the beach for a bit, and then guess what! The stay isn't over yet as there is a stunning seven course breakfast! This is served family style with other guests, although they do give you the option to dine separately if you let them know ahead of time. The food was magnificent! They explained each dish as it came out and it was all so fresh and skillfully prepared. We had a tropical fruit salad, bread, tuna ceviche, mango smoothie, quiche, sausage, panna cotta, and finished with fruit and cheese. Of note, if you don't wish to stay but would like to have breakfast in the lightkeeper's house, they do special breakfasts for special occasions and at certain times of the year, just check the website for dates. After the meal, they offered a little history tour inside the house which we sadly didn't have time to stay for, but we did go to the lighthouse for quick tour and to peruse the gift shop before checking out. It truly was such a dream of a trip, and I would definitely suggest staying for two nights. I thought one would be sufficient but would have loved more time. A couple tips about the area: This is just a mile or two north of the Sea Lion Caves. They are 110% a tourist trap, but still worth a visit if you've never been. We ate dinner at Mari's Kitchen in Florence and it was delicious, would highly suggest it, although it is located in a cute downtown area with all sorts of options. The same people who run the bed and breakfast own Ona's in Yachats, so I'm sure that would be great too. While in the area, make sure to plan some time to explore magical Cape Perpetua.
