Outdoor patio

Everything from the food, service to ambiance was absolutely superb. Sitting out on the patio looking out at the ocean while eating a very well made meal, was truly the highlight of our trip to Ireland. Thank you for creating a core memory for my husband and I on our honeymoon.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Exploring local restaurants and I'm 100% over the moon I came across this amazing Italian place. Fantastic restaurant, great location and overlooking Dun Laoghaire harbour across Dublin Bay, it has one of the best Al fresco dining set ups in all of Dublin! Food was unbelievably amazing, flavour was in abundance and hours later, the tasty goodness was still on my palette in a tummy I want more kinda way. If you're looking for tame Italian flavours, go elsewhere, they ain't afraid to add Garlic and then some which just made, what is possibly the best bruschetta I've ever tasted! I had the marguerite pizza with added cooked ham; authentic Italian pizza base cooked in wood oven and packed with flavour, comes served on a wooden block... When it arrived, barely knew where to start, was beyond the size I expected but don't worry, I finished every bite... How could I not, it was delicious! Staff were very friendly and attentive, there was no rushing to free back up the table, you felt warm and welcome to unwind, mull over your wine... And next time, desserts you are on my radar! I'm coming to get you

Prawn linguine

I know, my rating sticks out against the others, but unfortunately I wasn't too convinced by Oliveto this time around. Maybe it's a 3 1/2 though. Yes, the location is brilliant and the staff was lovely and it's nicely decorated - at the moment even with an exhibition by one of my favourite Irish artists. But I wasn't too conviced by my main. I had the Prawn Linguine. And whilst the pasta was perfectly cooked al dente the overall taste was a bit bland I thought. My friends had the House Pappadelle and the Rigatoni con Sugo di Salsiccie and seemed to be happy enough. As a dessert I had the Tiramisu and that was actually a pleasant surprise. It was lovely fresh and that's something you don't often get in restaurants. I suppose next time I will go for a pizza - for some reason I only saw that they've a pizza oven later so only then realised that that's probably their speciality.

Seafood risotto

This restaurant has amazing views over the sea and pier! We were seated in front of the window, and you could have given me any old boot to eat and I would've been content just staring out at the sea and taking it all in. Having said that, I was glad they did have normal food on offer as well. The menu consists of mainly pasta and pizza. And 6 or 7 maincourses (osso bucco-yum!) ranging from +/-14 to 25 euro. I went for an old time favourite of mine: Seafood risotto. And wow, it was good! It had plenty, and I mean PLENTY of fish and shellfish in there, and the tomato sauce was light and tasty. The restaurant itself has very classy, clean interior and staff was efficient and accomodating. Will be back! Even just to have a drink out in front on one of their picnic tables.

Oliveto restaurant in dun laoghaire is the perfect place to relax outside in the beer garden on a sunny day

Probably the best Italian food I have ever had. Absolutely fantastic! I would love their bucatini pasta recipe, it was perfect!

The service is very friendly, the atmosphere is casual and the food is delicious. We ordered the seafood pasta and the tortellini, a seafood starter and eggplant starter. Daily specials were announced by a waiter with a microphone which was hilarious considering the place had about 5 or 6 tables. Diners celebrating birthdays were treated to an enthusiastic rendition of happy birthday by the staff (one wearing a chicken head!). We ended our zany delicious dining experience with limoncello and were given notice that the place needed to be cleared for 9pm seating. The regulars know the drill, the place cleared out just before 9 as the 9pm diners were waiting outside. Make reservations!!! Also highly recommend you call earlier to confirm your res, and show up promptly otherwise you may lose your table. This is not a pretentious place, pretentious people should give it a miss, their loss!!

Book in advance because the place is very cosy! Amazing authentic Italian food lovingly prepared. The staff all seem to really enjoy their jobs and take pride in their work. Our first trip here took place on a sunny Saturday. We were on the way to Avoca for lunch but thought we'd check to see if we might get lucky with That's Amore. We were in luck! The outdoor tables were unoccupied so we sat in the sun drinking chilled white wine and chatting. We had the bruschetta to start which was just perfect. Delicious juicy tomatoes, fresh crusty bread and a little basil and balsamic. I had the prawn and courgette pasta which was perfect. Balanced flavours and tasty pasta. He had the tortellini with a creamy tomato sauce. It took all of our self control not to lick our plates clean. Thankfully we had been brought some of their garlic and rosemary focaccia to mop it all up. Yum! We were pretty full but the dessert menu was just crying out to us. We had the strawberries and cream which had some meringue in it too. The erect end to our meal. It felt like we could have been in Italy! If you can't get a reservation, don't despair! You can get the food to go as well. The pizzas are also fantastic. Really thin and crispy. Absolutely massive but so good that you won't be able to stop eating!

But this was no tourist trap. It was an authentic Italian restaurant with exceptional food and service! We were politely seated at a quiet table upstairs, and ordered drinks and appetizers. The meat and cheese platter, bruschetta, chicken wings, and other apps were so delicious and filling we didn't need to order entrées. But we did leave room for dessert, ordering two that our server recommended. My favorite was the cheesecake, but there wasn't a morsel left of either when our hungry family was done! Thank you Toscana, for making our first evening in Ireland so special. We will return!

Seated outdoors in a surprisingly comfortable outdoor terrace which, no fault of the restaurant, became increasingly cold despite the valiant efforts of space heaters. Service was friendly and attentive. That's the good news. The calamari starter was very forgettable and a surprisingly ungenerous portion. My Toscana pizza could easily have come from a supermarket fridge. Generic and bland. No discernible texture or taste. My companions venison ragu may have had a passing acquaintance with Bambi but it would be hard to prove or find among the gloop. The French fries were pretty good though. No, just no.

As we stroll home with the hound, Bianconis catches my eye, a place I have passed hundreds of times but never tried, now felt opportune. Clearly it would be a case of 'no dogs allowed', but we were keen to try the place. So, I do what any responsible pet owner would do, tie the dog to the tow bar of a passing car and let him get a bit of exercise as we dine. I loved it, really; the staff, the décor, the food, the wine, the ice cream counter, the shop....all of it. It is completely unpretentious, comfortable in its own skin, brilliant. I had lasagne, wifey had carbonara, we shared chips (because we are Irish) and a glass of wine each. 45 euro all in, which wasn't bad. The lasagne was served with a garlic bread I haven't tasted in years, made on olive oil, fresh garlic and home made bread baked in a pizza oven; something i remember fondly from my own time in the restaurant trade. We weren't there for long but long enough to know we'll be back As we leave a car passes with a dog tied to the tow bar, it's not ours but close enough, so I unhook him and we wander on. At some point I'm sure we will swap it out for the right pet, it's a good system and means they get lots of fresh air. Just as we are getting acquainted with the new canine a familiar silhouette is cast on the wall, I look around and there stands Bjorn, my fictional Scandinavian companion who pops up from time to time. "1,000 reviews Q, that's a lot for a short man, you must be exhausted" I agree but point out that I have let neither lack of quality nor accuracy stand in my way, "quantity all the way Bjorn!" He nods sagely, looks as though he is about to say something insightful, thinks better of it and invites me to take a seat. "Isn't that your dog?" he asks as a Ford GT passes trailed by a panting pooch "No", I reply, "mine can't run that fast". We sit back, Bjorn and I, watching the fastest dachshund ever recorded go over the bridge and into the sunset.
