Mujadara. Daily special that was not on the regular menu. Rice and lentils with fried onions and side salad.

We had a fantastic lunch at Olive's. We were returning home from kayaking the Cache river, and this spot was on the way. The house restaurant style is inviting and was surprisingly not crowded at all inside. There were very nice tables and chairs inside with attentive wait staff in a somewhat intimate setting. We parked on the street (not sure there is a parking lot, due to location in a house). I had shish tawook and she had mujadara. Both dishes were flavorful, and the salads were very fresh. We also shared baba ghanoush, which had a wonderful smoky flavor. If we are ever in the area again, we will return.

Adam, the owner. Great guy.

We came back for a gyro and that oh-so-scrumptious hummus... if you're not taking advantage of having a TRUE Mediterranean restaurant in Cape, you're missing out!!

Gorgeous old house. Mixed grill was fantastic. Some of the best hummus I have ever had. Generous portion of salad and chicken. I will definitely be back

Great food, nice and fresh! Great service, owner was helpful and friendly. Worth the drive of I-55 about 5 miles.

This is a very authentic restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Remind me of the Cafe in the Middle East.

I remember when Saffron first opened in Cape Girardeau. At the time, I wasn't really a Thai food…read moreeater, so I always stuck with the chicken fried rice. Eventually, I branched out and tried the chicken pad Thai, and now those are the two dishes I tend to go back to. This place isn't just good because of the food--it brings back so many childhood memories. I used to come here all the time with my mom, and going to Saffron was kind of our "fancy lunch." I would always beg her to get the drunken noodles because, as a kid, I thought the name was absolutely hilarious. Saffron is definitely nicer than your typical Asian fast-food restaurant, and one of the things I've always appreciated is that even when I order something as simple as chicken fried rice or chicken pad Thai, it doesn't feel greasy. The food has a nice, clean flavor, and the pad Thai has a great crunch on top that I really enjoy. I don't really have anyone to go here with anymore, but every now and then when I'm in town visiting my parents, I make a point to stop by. Tonight, I called my order in ahead of time, which is really convenient because I can literally do it while I'm driving on the interstate and then swing by to pick it up. It was the perfect meal tonight--not just because it was good, but because it brought back a little piece of my childhood. If you like Thai food, I definitely recommend giving Saffron a try. And if you've been going for years, you might just find that the food comes with a side of nostalgia, too.

I love love LOVE Bistro Saffron!!! I always make it one of my first stops when I'm in Cape…read moreGirardeau. I love the yellow curry. It's a nice spice level because it's not obnoxiously spicy or in your face but it still makes your nose run while you're eating it. The sushi is awesome too, seems like they switched it to 6 pieces from 8 but still stellar!
