Organic Chicken Souvlaki Pita
Ariel S.

Olive Tree Cafe is amazing! This counter-service restaurant offers delicious, high-quality, and affordable food! I was extremely impressed! The appetizers we ordered were all $7.99 or less, and the mussel ceviche stood out the most. It came with six pieces and was absolutely delicious. Oh, and don't get me started on the feta! Definitely order extra slices--at least one per person. You won't regret it. For my entrée, I had the organic chicken souvlaki, which was moist and juicy. You can order it as a pita or a salad, and if you choose the pita, it comes with a side salad. We finished with the baklava, which was perfectly flaky and nutty with just the right amount of sweetness. Did I mention it's BYOB? Bring your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy a glass while you wait for your food, it makes the experience even better! Olive Tree Cafe is a great spot for a girls' night out, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and even a parking lot. The service is friendly and welcoming. I'm already looking forward to my next visit with friends to share another meal here!

Love this place! The soup is my favorite item, but overall everything I've tried tastes great and is well priced. The staff is very friendly, and while the place is small they almost always have a crowd. I usually order takeout so no never an issue with finding seating.

I love Greek food, but this place just didn't do it for me. The plates feel incomplete for the price. Additionally, while there are some tables inside and plenty tables outside to sit down, it is takeout service only. Everything is served in takeout containers, which took away from the experience for me. I also felt like each pita sandwich that we got did not have enough filling... Our chicken one had a tiny piece of chicken in it (about the size of 1/4th a chicken breast) and that's it. For the price, I expected these to have more filling.

Really good tasting Greek food. There is usually a line after 6:00 and Yes, there is a constant struggle for that elusive parking spot if you want to park inside their tiny lot. Post Covid - Take Out & Cash only! No more Dining inside or on the outside patio. Bummer! Good news is the food is still made fresh & still has that authentic Greek taste! Sad news of the Owner passing away on the door with a temporary closing over next weekend, but business and its focus on quality continues to thrive. I will try calling ahead next visit to hopefully decrease the wait as each order is prepared fresh! Five Fabulous Stars and a prayer with condolences to the family and friends of the Family Owner Savas Mojarrad.

This establishment has changed hands like so many other food related businesses in Honolulu. As consumers we need to adapt to the new management as with all other things in life. The food quality is the same which is good news. The staff are hard working, level headed and pleasant. My reason for the so so rating was the wait time. I order my food at six and as I completed my order was advised it would take 50 mins for my food. One has to be smart about timing. Fine in is open again which is good news for the community but it is all basically takeout so you are competing with many others. Perhaps a second location would be ideal? Anyway feeling very thankful for the previous owners and the crew that worked their poles off to feed us healthy and delicious food for decades. Much mahalos.

We did take out because that's all they offer. Outside is dated. They weren't busy maybe two orders ahead of us. Still waited almost 30minutes for some pita & hummus, lamb souvlaki. We went to our car and had a few bites and everything was cold. We waited a while just to get cold food. It was very bland too.

Prices are right, especially in these hard times. The food is consistent (we've been going for over 10 years). Cash only.

Mara is located on the first floor of the Renaissance Hotel. Turn right as you enter through the glass doors. We were seated promptly and given our menus. The carafe of water on the table was a nice touch with the matching glasses that created a blue hue with the water in it. It set the ambiance of the Mediterranean Sea. My friend ordered the MAMMA MIA Cocktail composed of Meili Vodka, Strawberry, Basil, Honey, Greek Yogurt and she enjoyed it. Next, my friend ordered the WHIPPED BURRATA Roasted Beets, Walnuts, Pomegranate Molasses. The beets were flavorful as we paired it with the savory cheese and pita bread that accompanied it. This dish was delicately sweet and the walnuts created an even balance to the velvety beets. My friend ordered the PHYLLO-CRUSTED SNAPPER SANDWICH Caper Aioli, Athenian Slaw, Citronette. She enjoyed the crunchiness of the batter and the juiciness of the fish. The accompaniments also made her dish shine. I ordered the Grilled Kebabs Chicken plate with rice. This came with ZA'ATAR FLATBREAD Tzatziki, Cucumber & Tomato Shirazi. The 2 skewers of chicken breast had the charred flavor that paired well with the flatbread, rice, and Tzaziki. The cucumber and tomato added a cool crunch. Lastly, we wanted to try the dessert. We ordered the GREEK YOGURT SOFT SERVE fully loaded. The toppings included: Baklava Crumble, Sour Cherry, Olive Oil & Sea Salt, and Honey. The soft serve was creamy and tangy and perfectly balanced. The toppings such as the Baklava crumble had a buttery crunch. The Sour Cherry had a bold tart punch that blended with the creaminess of the soft serve. The drizzle of the Olive Oil and Sea Salt tingled my tastebuds. Finally, the honey tied everything together with its golden sweetness that lingered on my palate. This dessert was fabulous, rich and decadent, a standout in my opinion. This was my favorite part of the meal. Also, our server Phoebe G. made our experience at Mara so enjoyable. She would always check up on us and make sure we were taken care of. We will indeed return to Mara to experience excellent customer service and delightful Mediterranean flavors.

My husband ordered the Grilled Day Boat Scallops and I ordered the Greek Salad with a side of Brussels Sprouts for our entrees. The Bocconcino Whipped Burrata was a recommendation from our waitress and this was my favorite dish! So thankful she recommended it. I have never had anything like it before. The dip is made from roasted beets, walnuts, and pomegranate molasses. Because it was whipped, the texture was so light. It was perfect. The Greek Salad and Brussels Sprouts were only ok. I did not expect there to be as many tomatoes as there were and I wasn't really a fan of it for the price. My husband enjoyed the scallops and he recommends giving it a try. TLDR: definitely get the Bocconcino Whipped Burrata!

Compliment this with a greek salad, add hummus and pita and you got yourself one heck of a meal. Tried the balaclava for the first time and I have to admit that it's the best I've ever eaten. So tasty... a hint of cinnamon which I love. I love that they serve it with a small yet ample serving of honey. There's no alcohol served here but BYOB is accepted. Price is great for the quality of food prepared and served here. Best thing is don't just believe me... I'm someone you don't know, but try out yourself. By the way Yamas isn't a Japanese word or a shot cut to the owners Japanese name. It's a Greek like saying "cheers," or " to our health!" So my reviews aren't only my opinion on cuisine but it's also educational.

The gyros and falafel were ok but I might take another few years to go back.
