Green sequoia caused a disaster with my backyard. Sad part is that we had great experiences with…read morethem before and chose them because of that. If you are doing an outside project, don't pick green sequoia as this seems to be a trend (see Jonathan's review from July 2019). They kept demo'ing after finding an issue, making it worse, and then they left us hanging for a month until they were finally removed from the job. Overall, Green Sequoia did more harm than good on this. Not sure new management is working out. Full story: Green Sequoia previously did our bathroom and did a great job. Jessie and Victoria also did our closet. Love those two. We saw an opportunity to improve our backyard living space by removing unnecessary planters and retaining walls. We had two quotes and went with Green Sequoia, the more expensive one, because of the previous relationship. They didn't tell us that they didn't have exterior expertise and the person on the job wasn't a normal part of the crew but instead a subcontractor. When construction started, we knew there was a question if a retaining wall was supporting or redundant. As soon as the project started, removing a small part of that wall would have made it quickly clear it was supportive as the wall behind ended 8 inches from the top. That's when they should have stopped. They didn't. They dropped the whole wall and then only contacted me after. This caused increased cost and a safety risk for both me and my neighbor. The same occurred in another part of the property. Oversight of the subcontractor was clearly poor. Construction was halted a week after starting in early June because of these errors. Afterwards, Green Sequoia sat on it for a month without getting me change orders or a clear plan to fix it despite nearly daily questions and pings from me. I gave them an ultimatum on July 6th to have a plan by end of week or I would remove them from the job and seek a refund. Four days later they were off the job. No refund yet despite 5 follow up notes from me - but complaint filed with state license board. This project will cost me $20k more, with less improvements made, because of what it will take to repair their damages. The project was supposed to be 3 weeks. Currently it's looking like 3 months because I've had to remove Green Sequoia from the job and get a new contractor. Issues come up with old properties. When starting our plan I fully expected that there may be some small unexpected cost. My issue with Green Sequoia was the lack of oversight, the recklessness that caused increased damage, and the abandonment of the project. Two stars because through this disaster Kirk was still responsive. While I don't agree with their lack of ownership about their actions, I appreciate that communication lines stayed open and that he visited to do some bracing upon my request.

They did a horrible job- left rotting wood on the exterior, added new siding that is splitting and uneven. Fairly certain we still have several leaks- thank goodness it hasn't rained much for the sake of our house. I look at the mess they made every day and am horrified. Going to have to get their garbage work done properly as soon as we can afford it. Such an insane waste of money.

Trust is a common word but can be difficult thing to actually find. When it comes to a renovation,…read morethere is nothing more important than Trust - trust that the General Contractor you select has the skill to execute your vision, trust that they can deliver on time/on budget, and trust that they will always deal honestly and fairly with you through every phase of the project. After interviewing several firms, we placed our trust in Greg Maxwell to be the general contractor for the remodel of our 3 bedroom 2 bath house. It was a big job, and Greg and his subcontractors got the project completed ahead of schedule and within our budget. He collaborated well with us, and also with everyone else on the project: architect, construction engineer, roofer, and city inspectors. We are extremely pleased with the results of the remodel, and we cannot recommend him more highly. The scope of the main (upper) floor changes included 1) demo'ing the 4 small rooms down to the studs, removing a load bearing wall, and installing a new structural beam with foundational supports, 2) reclaiming an exterior light well to add interior square footage and adding a 2nd floor balcony, 3) rebuilding the space as an open floor plan with new kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, and office/study, and 4) raising the ceiling. The stairs between floors were rebuilt in a different configuration. Every room in the lower level - 2 bedrooms and a bathroom - was touched in some way, all for the better. This was thus a major project that Greg initially estimated at 6 to 7 months. Thanks to his team's skills and dedication, we were able to move back in after 5.5 months with almost all work done after 6.5 months. The only issue that cropped up after completion of the small(!) punch list was repainting a porch floor due to excessive moisture from the dryer vent. Early in the project, after opening up the roof and walls, we discovered that prior work under a former owner had not been done to code. What could have turned into a major disruption was smoothly handled: Greg accommodated a change order to fix, and still kept to the original schedule! Greg was always available to answer questions or hear feedback regarding the project. His frequent checkins and open communication style ensured that we always knew what was happening, and he clearly outlined what we needed to do on our end to keep the project on track. We also felt that he brought his years of experience to us by offering great counsel at every step of the way. We always trusted that we were in the best of hands. His billing was complete and clearly itemized. We had an amicable working relationship, and we're pleased that the good feeling still endures after the project completion.

He started pointing out all the little stuff he would help me fixed up along with the siding project without me asking for them or pointing out those problems. He was observant, patient and thorough. I'm glad I picked them . Martin and his crew were wonderful. I was so happy with their work with the siding . I started to give them more jobs around the house . 1 week siding project turned into few months of work around the house. Sound proofing wall, flooring , closing a window, reframing window and door, replacing window trims , kitchen cabinet/ counter top extension , electrical sub panel , recess lights, relocating receptacles, installing recess dryer vent box , relocate crawl space entrance , removing water heater, installing pipes for tankless water heater , demo and rebuild a deck, welding railing, concrete paving etc . There is absolutely nothings that this company doesn't do. We did all of those while we were living in the house . Auggie and his team renovated our guest bathroom. He greatly exceeded my expectations for the job…read more We plan to use him again for all future projects and I've already recommended him to our friends interested in a remodeling project. He replied to my email inquiry very quickly, he came onsite to assess the job and sent me a detailed, professional quote that night, as promised. The quote was extremely affordable and transparent. While at the house to assess the job for the quote, Auggie took measurements for me to tell me the tub dimensions I'd need and his recommended sizes for the vanity, etc. He was very friendly and I immediately trusted him. His team was flexible and accommodating with their scheduling. They were able to start as soon as all the essential materials arrived. The team did great work; they arrived early and worked continuously all day, only taking one break for lunch. Our project was executed during covid; the team wore masks the entire time and maintained social distance during interactions. We felt extremely safe with the team in our home. Covid aside, the team was extremely orderly and clean; they put down protective floor coverings, kept the job site organized, and cleaned up the job site thoroughly everyday. Throughout the entire process, Auggie was honest, he kept within our budget, worked hard and fast, and never disappointed us. At the end of the project, Auggie did a walk through and gave us a folder that included a summary sheet with line items of all material expenses and hard copies of all the original receipts - I was shocked. As for the final product, the pictures attached speak for themself - Beautiful!

They did a great job at a reasonable price, they were diligent, clean, respectful and took good care of my property. The work also included plumbing and electrical work, for new appliances and lights. Some highlights below about what I liked the most about working with them: David is very responsive to call/text. It's quite easy to reach him whenever I needed something. There is a decent sized crew where they have people with specific skillset like someone who only does counter tops, someone else who is a dedicated electrician and such. They were not in a rush to finish. But they did show up almost every day including some Saturdays. Whenever I pointed out something that I didn't like, even for minor things, David made sure it was redone to my liking - no question asked. This included returning some parts he already ordered and that was delivered, reordering new parts, repainting some wall with a new color and so on. They took care of everything - literally. Including TV and curtain rods unmount/mount, new door hinges and handles, and all new appliance installations. They took care of all the trash, hauling out all the demolition debris, old appliances, floors, and everything. When the job was finished everything was neat and clean. There is a fair payment breakdown, and I only made payments when certain part of the job was completed. Even after I made the final payment and I noticed some minor things that I needed fixed, they promptly came back and took care of those. Overall I'm very satisfied, and I'll definitely hire them again for other remodeling projects.

I had a very tight budget and Olive was able to work with me and deliver on both cost AND timing. They were able to get the marble, take measurements, fabricate and install in under 2 weeks! After installation, we realized the sink had cracked which was not their fault. Long story short, the sink had a small nick on one side when it arrived and I didn't think it would affect the integrity of the sink but it did. When I called the installers to come back, they did and helped to remove the sink even though the didn't need to do that. I highly recommend working with Olive and her team at Picasso Porcelain! Side note about having marble. I love it! It has etched already but I think that adds to the beauty of the natural stone. We haven't had any stains even though red wine and acidic food has been on it.
