However, upon returning to HK, I was quite disappointed this time. I ordered their special (beef tendon, brisket, and stomach) paired with rice noodles. My broth was weak and lacked in flavour. It was interesting because I found that my sister's broth (she ordered the same dish but with egg noodles) was much more flavourful and rich. Hers also had more accompaniments, such as coriander, spring onion, and fried onions. I believe that they weakened my broth or gave me another to match the rice noodles, which I didn't find necessary at all. Because the broth was weak, I could really taste some of the lingering aftertaste of the noodles. I was therefore forced to wait until my sister had consumed her bowl, and use her broth as a dipping/washing sauce for my noodles. Haha! However, shortly after consuming the noodles, my sister found that her stomach felt uncomfortable because of the alkalinity in the egg noodles (egg noodles must be carefully rinsed and treated to rid this alkaline taste). In short, the noodles had deteriorated in quality, and weren't really worth their price point ($58 for the special bowl).

For people who've never had a Chinese style steak before, it's totally different from Western…read moresteaks. Basically, Western steaks are seasoned pretty lightly, to bring out the natural meat flavour, and grilled. Chinese style steaks are pan fried (probably, I'm no chef) , then sauce (garlic or black pepper) is poured on top of it while its on a sizzling plate. I personally prefer Western style steaks made by steakhouses like The Keg because I find the sauces overpowering, covering the meat flavour, but Chinese style steak isn't bad either since it's a really good deal. I had the lunch special ($67 HKD) and have tried both the rib eye (I ordered the sirloin but they gave me the wrong one and tried to pass it off as sirloin lol) and the sirloin at 70% cooked. I expected them to undercook it a little bit, and they did, so I ended up getting the steak exactly how I wanted it. The sauce, both flavours, is quite strong, and the black pepper varies between being not too spicy to quite spicy. The soup was regular, the drink that comes with the meal normal. I tried the upstairs place next to Sweetheart Garden Restaurant, called something like "The Worst Steak", but I prefer this place because for an additional $2 HKD,($65 HKD lunch set vs. $67 HKD lunch set) you get to choose the type of steak you want. To me, that's quite important. Also, a nice thing I noticed is that they don't force each individual to order a meal by charging them money for not eating, which is what they do elsewhere. I've been coming to this place since the last time I came to Hong Kong and I'm glad to see that nothing has really changed. It's not the best steak I've ever had in my life, but it's a good deal, the steak is good, and they give you enough to make you full, something that's not always something to be expected when you eat out in Hong Kong.

The chicken was tender and I really appreciated the sauce to rice ratio. I liked how there was enough sauce to cover the rice, chicken, and accompanying veggies. The rice was also quite interesting because it was slightly more "chewy" than your typical rice dish. The decor is also kinda cute but overall the restaurant is more casual. You could opt for soup and salad with just 30 more HKD. Service was alright and definitely could be better but the food makes up for it so I still see myself coming back if I'm in the Kwun Tong area!
