They are located right on Cahaba Heights Rd and while parking in front is limited there is extra parking behind. Olive Branch has a large outdoor deck with umbrellas so outdoor dining is available. Our server was Kara and she was attentive, friendly and quick to reply to requests. The food was great. We had a party of five and after we ordered it was only a few minutes until all our food came out together. We both had the Gyro salad which basically their rendition of a greek salad topped with sliced gyro meat. For less than $9 it is a bargain. It also comes with pita bread. Our other guests had Franks philly and said it was also good and plenty. They also have a good selection of wines and bottled beer. If it is half as good as it smells I'll be in love! Lets see...... OMG the food could not have been better and I know Mediterranean food, I am Lebanese! The Kibbe sandwich had a huge piece of delicious Kibbe with lettuce and tomatoes in soft pita bread. Tender squash stuffed with meat and rice with a delicate tomato sauce. Rolled grape leaves that almost melt in your mouth! I felt like I was at my Grandmas house! Friendly warm staff made you feel like you were dining in their home. This girl is stuffed and happy. Gyro plate is good too, but man oh man the Greek dressing is ridiculous. It is so good. Be careful with the humus if you are sensitive to garlic, it packs a punch. Definitely NOT a good date food option! The owner is always moving about; checking on tables, having a conversation or behind the cash register. This is a family establishment and run like pros. I've eaten here a couple of times as it is close to work-def a lunch spot. I prefer sitting outside because the inside seating is rather close and I get distracted easily by other people's convos! The hummus is good but not the best I've had. I stick to the chicken or kofta kabob plates which have the variety I like-salad, rice and hummus. You get plenty of food to have enough for leftovers. On week nights, you can find people dressed up like they are going to a fancy dinner and even though this may seem odd, it's kinda cute. All the waitstaff are very friendly and helpful with the menu. Great location that I hit up each time I need to go to the Summit. Food: Come here for the food. It's exceptional. I've been here twice now and being vegetarian, have gotten the falafel which is really friggin good. It's got a very thin crunchy outside with perfectly cooked, warm and perfectly textured inside. They're slightly flattened, I assume to ensure that it cooks through and I think that's what lets them keep the crunchy breading pretty thin and delightful. The tabouli is really friggin good too, with the perfect amount of herbs for flavor and crunch from the cucumber. It's not too vinegar-y and doesn't get runny from all the water content. I've also had their fried cauliflower appetizer which was also delicious. I'm a fan of cauliflower but they make a simple dish taste great. Presentation isn't anything fancy in the food, which mirrors their restaurant but with food this good, I don't really care. Overall: Great place that seems like it's family run with exceptional food and great staff. 4 stars is the best I'll give a restaurant in Birmingham and there are few around for vegetarians but this is definitely one I'll keep coming back to. read more

The good ... food was plentiful and reasonably priced, the hummus was OK, the tabbouleh wasn't bad although nothing special. WOW! this place was good. I was there at about 1:30 on a Thursday and I was promptly seated in their small and clean dining room. I ordered the Gyro Lunch Special which came with sliced gyro meat on a bed of wild rice, Greek salad, 3 wedges of pita bread and a small side of hummus. I also ordered a small side of "baba dip". Everything was EXCELLENT, properly prepared and presented. The hummus and baba dip were as good as any I have ever had. The service was very professional and could not have been better. This is probably the best Greek/Mediterranean restaurant we've been to in the Birmingham area. We've tried several others but the food here is outstanding and they present it in a very homey way that makes me think I'm in Europe eating at a family restaurant. Their fried cauliflower is delicious, the falafel is tasty and their gyros are fantastic. We got the squash blossoms one time with the avgolemono soup and it was as authentic as it gets. I could rave about this place forever- IT IS SO GOOD! Olive Branch has become my FAVORITE place to eat in Birmingham. Everything on the menu is great, especially the gyro! There's something about it that makes it so good(ask for extra taziki sauce on the side = game changer)! The mint tea is also so freaking amazing. The staff is so friendly. The other night my family came to town, so I told them this place was a must-have. The wait for our food was taking longer than normal (normally it's pretty quick!), but our waiter sincerely apologized and brought us hummus and pita bread on the house. I am sure I've said it before, but the Olive Branch is some of the best Mediterranean food in the city. The kafta, gyro, chicken, and tabouli are all fantastic. You can have your protein over rice with a salad (I always substitute tabouli) or in a pita. Of course the stuffed squash and grape leaves for two is a big hit, as well. We kicked it at the Olive Branch Saturday afternoon for lunch. The weather was nice and our crew really enjoyed their patio. The Appetizer Sampler was great. Our Entrees were all delightful, although we stuck to the regular lunch menu. We saw what others ordered (mainly specials) and had food envy, despite our joy. This feels like a family-run joint for people that are in the know, and I like that. My check was surprisingly reasonable given the quality. The Olive Branch is one of my go-to restaurants for lunch. On beautiful fall or spring days, their patio is perfect. According to the owner, they are in the process of applying for a permit to allow them to cover the patio so that it is multi-season friendly (it can get hot in the sun even on mild days). Parking can be a bit of a pain, but if you don't want to back up out of a parking spot into a busy street, just park down below the restaurant and walk up. Their lunch plates come with your choice of meat (chicken, gyro, falafel, or kafta), pita and hummus, and a salad or tabouli. I am a big fan of their chicken, hummus, tabouli and gyro, but I found their kafta and falafel to be quite salty. Often I'll order the gyro wrap. Servings are large and filling. Service is usually fast and friendly. I appreciate having the option of paying at the counter, so as not to have to wait for my server to run my card when on a tight lunch schedule. read more
