Beautiful space. The fixtures, wall and ceiling colors, decor, etc are all classy and timeless. The hostess and our waitress were both kind and attentive. The food was very good, if a bit overpriced. Ours was actually fairly reasonably priced, but some other items on their menu are very steep for Hagerstown. Husband ordered an orange crush and it was very good. We had the crab dip as an appetizer. The BREAD was amazing. The dip was meh. I took it home and doctored it up and now it is delicious. I'm sorry, you can't be a restaurant in Maryland, serving crab dip that is completely lacking Old Bay. Pretty sure that's a law here. Also added a little Worcestershire too in case anyone else runs into the same problem we had. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered a Caesar salad and added grilled chicken. It was very good. They didn't overdo it by drowning it in dressing. The chicken was slightly dry, but not too dry as to not be able to eat it. It had good flavor. My husband got the Tortellini Rustica which was sausage, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes in a bell pepper sauce and it was very good as well. The sauce had just a hint of spice but not overpowering. His only complaint is he wished it had a bit more sausage as it was sliced pretty thin and there wasn't a lot in there. All in all, a great new addition to the Hagerstown restaurant scene and we will definitely be back to try some other things. read more

This is a new classy upscale dining experience, something that Hagerstown needs more of. Opened just a week ago it is still experiencing a few growing pains so please take that into account when you read my review. They show some real potential and i'm very optimistic that this will be a hot spot for a quality dining experience. This is owned by the folks who already have extensive restaurant experience running the very popular Tapias on Main in Middletown. Olive and Oak offers a range of menu items including crab cakes, salmon, steaks, salads, and appetizers. They have a well rounded wine list, and their specialty cocktails look very tempting. The one we for was delicious. For our meal I for the salmon imperial and my wife got the stuffed flounder. She loved the flounder stuffed with lobster and crab over risotto. My salmon imperial was panned seared with a light crisp coating that frankly was salty. I think it could have been cooked a couple minutes less though it was still moist. However the meatball sized crab cake was deep brown in color and dried out. I do think that with just a few minutes less cooking it would have been wonderful msi course. At the other end in the spectrum the fresh baby carrots and green beans were undercooked to where you couldn't cut then with a knife without worrying they shoot off the plate. I know this might sound discouraging but honestly the potential for a top notch dining experience is there. They just need more practice. Service was courteous and professional. And the ambience was classy and upscale, a very nice place to go on a Friday for a cocktail and appetizer at the bar or a special date night with your spouse. They do recommend reservations for dinner service and from the crowded parking lot every night I've driven by, I'd say that's a good idea! read more

The Oak and Olive was recommended by a friend that knows I enjoy the entire dining experience. In my opinion, dining out is not just the food. Case in point, as soon as we entered this resturant we were greeted not only be huge smiles, but also, hello, welcome to Oak and Olive. We asked for a window seat so we could enjoy the sunshine outside. They do offer outside dining too. I love the decor, has the upscale vibes but with a warm cozy feel. Clean, absolutely, all the way. Comfortable , oh my yes. And, it was my birthday dinner, which I told them I was celebrating my birthday with dining there while enjoying my favorite drink, the Expresso Martini. The food ? Well, that crab cake was a huge ball of pure white flaky crabmeat encased in a yummy breaded ball. And the cottage fries so good, we ate everything on our plates. Desert was the lemon cake that melts, literally melts in your mouth. They added a golden candle and a little birthday sign on the side beside the strawberry garnish. This resturant has it all. We can't wait to go back and try another entree. So, you can dress anyway you like, and not feel out of place if you are older like us, or if you are with the younger generation. I love finally seeing a new, upscale restaurant around here. Food and service are great. Presentation was excellent too. I had the stuffed flounder and the wedge salad with blueberry cheesecake for dessert. They were excellent. We will add this restaurant to our rotation. read more

My friend and I had an amazing lunch at Olive and Oak last week. Excellent and professional service from our waitress, Staci. She was so friendly and efficient. I had the Burrata Steak. Elevated menu and great service are the emblem of this restaurant. It has only been open a short while, but we have been there three times. Twice with friends who insisted on going back for their second time. It is definitely on our list of favorite places to go. read more

Had a great dinner with my family. Waitress was very good and everyone was friendly. Will definitely be back. Had a couple great mixed drinks. The espresso martini is one of the specialty drinks made with tequila. My favorite. Steaks were cooked perfectly. The bar is very nice too. We sat in the dining room. read more

There is a need for a high-end restaurant in this area, but this one doesn't make it! Decor is OK. Seating is "snug"; tables very close together. Restaurant is noisy. One of our party had NY Strip, mediu rare; gristly & chewy. You can get much better strip at one of the local chain restaurants. Another had filet mignon & declared it OK. I had seared duck breast. It was flavorful, but very tough. It was served on a bed of mashed potatos, which were cool & very lumpy. Rum cake dessert was dry. Bill for 6 was over $400! Only strong point was that young female server was competent and attentive. read more

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. The ambiance, food, drink and service is impeccable. I travel a lot and want the very best food and service. That is exactly what this place delivers. The owner's standards and expectations are above most other restaurant owners I've ever experienced. You will see it in the intricate details in the decor and food delivered on your plate. I've struggled for four years to find anything even remotely like this place in Hagerstown and it simply doesn't exist. You would be proud to bring your family, friends and colleagues to this place. The ambiance of the restaurant definitely had a modern-upscale atmosphere. It is clear the owners took time to make the place physically appealing, but that made my table (who just wanted a nice meal before a movie) feel significantly out of place. The intimate location created less personal space as tables were close together. Waitstaff were young and physically well put together, but did not write down orders and all followed the same script without interacting at all with their tables. While the food was delicious, it was definitely overpriced. You're definitely paying for the aesthetic. While I do thinks it is nice to have more upscaled dining, the food did not meet the atmosphere created by the visual attraction. The food was average and the service at the bar though friendly was very slow. I also didn't like getting my entree while i was still eating my salad. The salad took 45 minutes to arrive and i twice prompted the waiters to little effect. This restaurant needs training on service and an improvement on their food!! read more

Depressing restaurant design. Black ceilings (why?), black cocktail napkins (why?). Seating in the main dining room looks like they copied Wendy's. I'm sorry but it really does look like a fast food restaurant. I know they are trying but they succeeded in making it unintentionally tacky. The MOST tacky thing is charging $6 for a side salad to go along with your dinner. Umm, you need to immediately build good will for new customers. This was an irritating thing to learn from our server. I heard another server tell the customers next to us there was a $6 up charge for salad to go with their entree, and they too voiced their annoyance. If I were the owner I would change that immediately. I was disappointed that there were two TV screens playing sports. Is there any restaurant in Hagerstown, besides the German restaurant on Main Street, that DOESN'T have sports going 24/7 on a tv? As for service, the server spoke about 100 miles an hour and seemed distracted - better training and for God's sake, please tell your servers to stop coming up and asking "you guys good?." Dear Lord. I thought the food was better than expected, and so four stars on that front, and congrats on what really matters. However, I don't see myself going back. Maybe, maybe not. Glad it was busy and that says a lot for Hagerstown which DEFINITELY needs more restaurants that are NOT Mexican, thank you very little. read more

This a nicer spot for Hagerstown and we recently went in for an anniversary dinner and had a great time. The food was delicious and the waitress and kitchen were very accommodating for two picky eaters in our party. They made adjustments and made sure everything came out correctly for us. The crab dip was delicious, filet Oscar was amazing and cooked perfectly, and the rockfish and stuffed flounder were both top notch. Great wine selection and a 10/10 espresso martini - can't wait to go back! read more
