Saturday dinner at Olio's was great! Several folks in our community have been raving about it and my experience is the same! My wife went to lunch three days ago with friends and she came home and raved about it!! She had PENNE BOLOGNESE-traditional meat sauce, penne, grana padano, wild oregano. I even loved it as a left over! We went last Saturday. So glad we came early at 5:30 pm. Soon after we were seated the crowd only got bigger! For an appetizer I order the Caprese-Vine ripened tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, capers and basil with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Very nice!! Our entrées were Shrimp Champagne-Fettuccini pasta served with Shrimp, tomato, champagne, roasted garlic cream and spinach. Huge shrimp in a light sauce. Flavorful and aromas! My wife order the Padella Cremora-Penne pasta oven baked with Alfredo sauce, spinach, and cheese. Picky eater described it as 'Excellent'! Both the food and service were amazing! The Ambiance was very dim and romantic. The waitress Emma was super attentive and always checking on us and every one of her tables. The staff were pleasant and kind. We went out to dinner for our belated Anniversary last night. This restaurant was highly recommended by 2 of my co-workers who went separately with their spouses. The fresh bread and dipping oil were delicious. We ordered a Fig pizza as an appetizer (brought half home), it was delectable. You could tell the figs and goat cheese were so fresh, it was sooo good! My husband ordered the Champagne Shrimp for dinner and I ordered the Tomato Shrimp Scampi. Both dinners were wonderful. The shrimp were huge and cooked nicely. The sauce on the Champagne Shrimp was very creamy, just like an Alfredo sauce. The tomato Shrimp Scampi has a red sauce with a kick. It was just spectacular! This restaurant has a pretty simple and short menu but there's a reason for it. It is farm to table and uses local ingredients and the minimal menu also keeps their food completely fresh. Went for lunch on a Saturday with my son. He had cheesy skillet and I tried the fried eggplant and pasta. Both were "eh". My eggplant was done very well but my pasta was very overcooked (mushy) and tomato sauce lacked flavor. Also they put cold muscadine grapes in the dish?? Skip and go to new country kitchen restaraunt one block away. Also wine list is disappointing and they claim they do not do corkage fees or allow outside bottles. read more

Olio is a hidden gem. We pass by it all the time and never noticed it was there. Saw comments on Facebook about it so we went in search for it. We are extremely happy that we found it. The food is exquisite Handmade, fresh to order. They make their own unique and traditional sauces for their food. I had tortellini and vodka sauce, and my husband had Pollo Sugo Di Funghi. We both fell in love with that sauce. Never had anything like it before. They make a wonderful, homemade garlic rolls and we sop up all the sauce with the rolls too. Good to waste any. We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed them the next day as well. I would love to see them offer the Di Funghi sauce on more items. Or put a little bit of penne or ziti with the dish my husband had. Not that it needs to have it. It's just that good that you want it with noodles also The ambiance is perfect. This restaurant is authentic Italian food, fresh made pasta, sauces, and the homemade bread is delicious. Their farm to table cooking makes their dishes outstanding. We chose Olio for our Anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint. The food was exceptional. My husband got the Sea Bas Branzino and I chose the lamb. The best grilled Calamari ever ! My most fortunate meal , busy night sat at the bar. Ordered the Calamari ,while waiting a special meal was served to a lady next to us. Olio Steak Duo Al Fuoco Vivo for two was served to her. My wife and I were randomly searching for a place in Dade City for dinner. A yelp search produced Olio on 7th Ave. Unfortunately it being a Saturday we were met with an over an hour wait. The only choice was to be seated at the bar or outside. We made the mistake of choosing outside. Regardless of the choice we received excellent service. One thing I suggest is some type of bug repellent system for the outside. I chose the pollo parmigiana the wife chose the pollo cremora. The pollo parmigiana was good, I felt that their red sauce lacked something. The pollo cremora was delicious. The Alfredo sauce was light and had such great flavor. My only complaint was the wait time for our food, 45 minutes. If we were inside waiting it would have been a little more enjoyable. read more

And they had two huge tables that were empty the entire two plus hours we were there, yet they would not seat parties of four or under to share these tables, in the instance that a big party may come in. The 1st couple times I went in, I enjoyed the meals, but the last time I went in my daughter and I went for a nice meal. The dinner was fine, my issue was with the appetizer, we ordered the burratta for us to share. When the appetizer came to the table I cut into it and it turned out to be fresh mozzarella, not burratta, the price difference between the Caprese salad is around 4 dollars, $12 vs $16. I told the server that we ordered the burratta, he went into the kitchen and asked the chef, and the chef said they ran out, ok. I've worked at lots of restaurants before, I understand that product runs out, and if that happens then you 86 it. I was charged burratta prices for regular mozzarella. The server or the chef should have taken the appetizer off my bill, because I paid for something and never received it and wasn't even informed about the switch of type of cheese. I've been here many times at night for some drinks when I worked at a restaurant around the corner. Always had a good time and the servers were so nice. I decided to take my friends in town out to dinner there for the first time and it was extremely disappointed. It took about a hour for our food to come out. Based on the pace of other tables and their food coming out around us, it became clear that our server Gavin forgot to put our order in. He also never checked on us after we put our order in and we wanted to get a bottle of wine and never got to even order it because he never came around except when he came back to our table saying they were super busy as we had been waiting for our food for 40 min at that point. Note that there were tons of empty tables around us and almost everyone in the restaurant already had their food when we came in. He was generally dismissive, unkind, and did not care about us once we didn't immediately order drinks and an appetizer when we got there. We had the chef special of spinach tortellini with shrimp and it was once again delectable. Tiramasu and spaghetti ice cream for dessert helped complete a fantastic menu for our palates.The service was superior with our server Brandon at the helm. The restaurant is a new gem for Dade City and fills a significant void in the Italian restaurant space for the area. The dishes are clearly made fresh from scratch and are all amazing so far. The fresh garlic rolls with pesto they give you are to die for. Excellent drink options, very good ambience and attentive service. So far we've had the burrata, antipasto, meatballs, chicken parm, kids spaghetti and pasta crema. I am typically immensely particular on Italian food and am rarely impressed by restaurant offerings. I decided to take my mom here for lunch (my first visit) and was impressed with the service and quality of our meals. Fred was our server, and he was fantastic! His recommendations were perfect. The calamari for a starter was perfect. I ordered the lasagna and my mom had the shrimp champagne w/ linguine. While everything was delicious, my lasagna was the best ever.
