Let me start by saying the place is beautiful inside and our waiter was professional, top notch and very attentive. The entrees, while both tasty, left a little to be desired though. I had the Olesia's platter and I was disappointed in that the cabbage roll was 80% rice filled. Just enough meat to keep it together, I guess. The pierogis could have been Mrs. T's and it would not have mattered. It seems all potato/cheese perogies taste the same though. My wife had the beef stroganoff and said it was tasty but very mushy and not very warm. Not at all like what we have seen elsewhere. Our desert was a piece of German chocolate cake. It was very rich and actually very good. Overall, I thought the bill total was more that it should have been considering these factors. read more

I've dined at Olesias a few times, both the main dining area and the speakeasy in the basement. The ambiance in both areas is really nice. The service in the main dining area is always great. However, when we dined in the speakeasy it was just the bartender trying to take care of bar and all the tables and the service wasn't great. My go to, the beef stroganoff - delicious every time. It pains me to give 3 stars based off all of the above. However, the older woman who is the hostess every time we have been there is disgruntled and just plain rude. We had dinner at Olesia's for an anniversary and would highly recommend. Very well decorated and nice ambiance with a beautiful bar area. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was awesome. We split a bowl of lobster bisque, enjoyed crab stuffed salmon and scallops for dinner (I guess we were in a seafood mood!) and then split the carrot cake for dessert. Stopped into Olesia's for a quick bite and hopefully some shareable options. This was my first time in and the vibes and ambiance of the place are fantastic. Super nice interior with a great patio that is well shaded. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable of the menu. The menu is pretty large and do offer a variety of foods that deviate from their Eastern European cuisine if that is not what you are into. We got Olesia's platter to share which came with sausage, stuffed cabbage and pierogis. I'd say the pierogis were the best. The stuffed cabbage was a bit too rice heavy for my liking and I did not love it. We also ordered the deviled eggs which we all were not the biggest fans of as we found them a bit bland and very watery making them tough to eat. The final thing was the beet salad, it's very arugula heavy and I was wishing it was a bit larger with additional toppings rather than it mostly being arugula. This place is a bit on the pricier side and portions are not huge so just know that in case you are planning to potentially share something. Overall, Olesia's is a very cute place and offers a large menu and is definitely a place to give a go. their sausage was great and pierogis as well as the Saurkraut so those would be my recommendations! If I could give Olesia's 10 stars, I would. Every single bite of food was outstanding; starting with the deviled egg appetizer to the entrees and dessert, just so delicious. They have a full drink menu as well. The architecture of this restaurant is gorgeous and unique, including the wonderfully decorated large patio, makes a great place for a romantic dinner. Service was fantastic, our server Justin S, was very pleasant and polite. They have plenty of vegetarian options as well which was surprising but welcome for the vegetarian in our group. Such a wonderful place to dine in at. We always seem to forget about it and then there's a big time gap in between our visits there. Our latest meal did not disappoint. We had shrimp cocktail, flight of soups, the SSS entree and pork schnitzel. All were very good. Only complaint is that we wish we didn't have to ask for more bread from our server when the server at the tables next to us asked them many times. Also, just because we had leftovers, doesn't mean we are not interested in dessert. Our server could have asked but lacked in that area. The food and drink selections are extensive, with plenty to explore. I settled on a glass of the Inscription Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley. It was smooth, bright, and layered with red fruit and subtle spice. It turned out to be a perfect match for the 6oz center-cut filet, which was cooked beautifully and served with silky mashed potatoes, crisp asparagus, and a tangle of crispy onions. While I could have done without the onions, everything else on the plate was spot on. I also tried a side of grilled asparagus, lightly drizzled with balsamic... simple, fresh, and just the right touch of acidity to enhance the vegetables' natural flavor. Although I passed on dessert (with Country Maid ice cream just down the road calling my name), I left thoroughly impressed and eager to return. The hot soup served in flimsy thin plastic container screams cancer, not so appetizing, nobody ate it, the hummus was a spit sized serving in a ketchup cup (lmao) the pitas burnt and hard and dry, the kids tenders and fries were way too salty for consumption, and the wedge just tasted like a Sysco wedge I can get anywhere all this way over priced. Mashed potatoes taste like chemical flare and I lost my appetite didn't want the schnitzel at this point. We had an amazing experience from start to finish planning a baby shower at Olesia's Taverne of Richfield. Alina assembled a stunning balloon arch for us which made a huge statement at our event. She also baked and decorated cake pops and other desserts that went with our chosen theme. The food was delicious as always and was served with enthusiasm and good cheer. We got hungry after a trip up to Cayuhoga national park and several hikes along their trails. It was a wet, rainy day and we were looking for a nice warm meal. Olesia's was definitely on the nicer side of restaurants, but they still served us and were kind regardless of our wet clothing and worn appearances. I got the meatball sliders and upgraded my fries to the rosemary garlic fries, which I'd highly recommend! The meatball sliders were great and I liked the bell pepper based sauce, nice, subtle change from the tomato sauces I'm so used to. My husband and I love it here! The restaurant really outdid themselves for Valentine's Day. Upon entering, the hostess gave me a gorgeous red rose. While seated at the bar having a drink, staff including the owner herself made lovely conversation with us. The ambiance normally is gorgeous and was especially lovely with the added Valentine's Day decor. Per usual, we loved the chicken paprikash and pierogis with short rib. We did however have varying opinions on the meat pies. My husband loved them and I would be fine to not order them again. We also poked our heads into the speakeasy which looked cool. I was really excited to go here after reading all of the lovely reviews and after seeing the menu. I called earlier in the day to ask if they allowed walk-ins, and when I told the man on the phone that I was dining alone, he said "Really? Just you?" I decided to book a reservation online because he did say they were already almost at capacity. When I booked, there was no distinction as to where I'd sit. When I arrived, I saw the host right away but instead of seating me in the main dining room, they took my downstairs to their "speakeasy," the vibes of which could be described as "early 00's finished basement." Cold tile floors, random decor around the room, and weirdest of all, a pop music playlist. Return of the Mac was playing when I sat down. I sat at a small table off to the side next to some high-tops, away from the overly-large TV at the bar. I believe the manager sat me, and then the bartender took my order. He was already frantic and fast, but kind. The downstairs space filled up very quickly and it was LOUD. Thankfully I stuck with water so I didn't have to wait for a drink, but I did have to flag down someone for bread. He was also kind but incredibly stressed. There was not a dedicated server for anyone. When my food came out, everything was already room temperature. The bartender suggested I try both sauces on the cabbage roll so I did. I should not have. The tomato was a good, basic tomato, but the mushroom was not good - somehow bland and overpowering, an odd sour aftertaste. The sausage was so tough, I had trouble cutting it with a knife and fork. My pierogi were good, but the onions served with them were cut so big it was hard to maneuver them with a slippery pierogi bite. I didn't finish my meal. Once my food came, I didn't have a single person speak to me or top off my water or remove my plates until I flagged down the (again, very flustered) manager for my bill. I was sat at 6:00 and didn't get my bill until 7:30. Before he walked away, I gave him my card so I wouldn't be forgotten again. When he brought it back, he sat it on my table with a quick "haveagoodnight" before rushing off. As I was leaving, there was a musician setting up in the corner. I don't know that I could've taken that much extra noise in that space. PS: this is small, but I visited for my birthday. I put it in my reservation twice. I know they were busy, and I'm not expecting free things, but a mention would've been nice. I was treating myself and was really let down. I wasn't even given a dessert menu to simply order myself something. All in all, I can tell that this may have been a very nice spot at some point, but service is SEVERELY lacking. We Have eaten at Olesia's since they've opened. i've always liked the atmosphere and the outside setting is very good. however just recently I believe they've changed the ingredients possibly of one of their offerings. I have bought every time I have gone, the Olesky's platter which I thought was excellent. however the last two times I've been over the the last three weeks. It seems the Olesia's platter that I call the pigs in the blanket. They put much more rice in the cabbage , instead of meat and it really has ruined, I think the taste of it and an amazing meal. In all fairness I don't do 5-Star reviews often, an experience has to be very very special to earn 5 stars, Olesia's is about as close as it can get to 5 stars. I was not sure when we got there of what I got us in to, I was having second thoughts about the type of food that we were in the mood for and I could not have been more wrong. The food was INSANE (more about that later) and the spot is without a doubt a hidden gem in the Cleveland area. For real, nobody new go there it will make getting in (to an already tough place) difficult. We could not get in the main dining room, I waited too long to make reservations so we were in the Speakeasy downstairs which is a fun place for dinner and drinks. They have live entertainment often (there was a Sinatra singer last night) and one of the best performers that gets booked is a performer named Lego Legros. His rendition of Nutshell (acoustic) from Alice in Chains will change your life. For drinks they have their own take on an Old Fashion, great recipe and done with Bulleit. For my first drink I asked the Bartender to change up the bourbon and we went with Basil Hayden, the second I went with Four Roses, the third I went with Bulleit and then the last I went back to Basil Hayden. We decided their recipe with Basil was perfect. For an appetizer we went with Crab Cakes, our server/bartender recommended we had them done extra crispy and it was perfect. I am not a HUGE crab cake person and they were absolute butter. So good. I was on the fence between the Porky Fries and the Meatballs (Chorizo-Pablano made with prime filet) and the server said meatballs hands down and he was right. They were so smooth and rich, the vodka style sauce was a perfect compliment. They have tons of main courses to choose from, we ended up with the lamb lollipop style dish for her and I went with the honey Siracha Chilean Sea Bass. I am a red meat kinda "get a steak" guy and boy am I glad I went with that Sea Bass, it was probably some of the best I have ever had. I went with the mash potato with it (instead of risotto) and it as well is a perfect compliment. Looking back I should have asked chef to splash the mash with some of that extra honey siracha, it was so good. For dessert we normally aren't huge dessert people, but if there is creme brûlée it is an instant yes. The brûlée was ok, the top crust was a little thin and the main portion of the dish had an average taste to it (don't get me wrong, I will get it again when we go back), I just wasn't over the moon for it. We missed out on the chocolate cake that had some type of peanut butter in it as well, so we opted for the german chocolate cake (I believe it was) and it was average as well. Neither of this surprised me as Europeans have a different set of dessert recipes that to me either you love or hate, in this case it wasn't a matter of hating them, but meh, will probably pass on that cake next time (cheesecake was also an option we may try next time). While the dessert may seem a bit of a downer, it's not - we can't wait to go back to Olesia's, the vibe in the speakeasy is fun, lots of people coming and going for a cocktail and quick bite while others spend their (our) time having a great meal. Love their patio here - so cute back there and always great service. They have recently amped up their wine selection too so we had a really good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc on a warm night this week and enjoyed the salmon and filet. My salmon came with risotto instead of potatoes and the risotto was amazing. Salmon was cooked perfectly too there was not an ounce of food left on my plate! My husbands filet was good - not the best on earth but wasn't expecting that. It was flavored well and cooked as ordered and he also ate all of that. Not pictured were the salads - they are HUGE!! The strawberry and goat cheese salad was incredible - something about the poppy seed dressing I swear I wanted to lick the plate (don't judge me, I didn't). The house salad is even delicious - and also huge, I was thinking I could have had just that and been content but then of course the salmon came looking delectable.
