Man-oh-man-oh man (and woman!!) Finally after years of wandering the globe (well, at least this…read morecorner of it, here in Ohioooooooooo!!) I've finally found the closest possible match to the comfy, cozy, worn to a fine shine "dive" bar to help (temporarily) return me to the days of my misspent "youth," when every place you went, whether across town or across the country wasn't a carbon copy of everywhere else!! We've walked right by this place sooooooooo many times, I'm not even sure how we finally decided to stop in the other night, but so glad we did!! We grabbed two seats at the bar, took in the WONDERFUL, formerly smoky haze of the place, admired the AUTHENTICALLY eclectic (no "pre-fab" charm here!!) displays, including an AMAZING collection of electric guitars, and were equally dazzled by the great music and the bartender who was just as awesome as her surroundings (maybe more so!!) The mister sampled a few of the bottled brews available (no taps here) and I had a couple of different ciders, all good!! We watched her put together some amazing cocktails as well, and finally couldn't resist, and tried one of her own, personal "specialties," (@#$*!!, I was having too good a time to remember the name!!) which was also wonderful!! We'll be back, to sample more this great spot has to offer, to check out their outside patio, and (for me, anyway) the chance to temporarily time-travel back to a simpler, more carefree/boozy time in my not-too distant past!!

Some of bartenders are cool…read more However, what isn't appreciated is the rude treatment by one of the bartenders when all we wanted a drink. She's the OLD and homely looking woman. When I ordered a drink for me and my friend, she completely ignored me. Her coworker in the back was also rude. Following people out of the bar when they are ACTIVELY trying to leave when you tell them to is completely unnecessary, especially when it's a grown man following young women out. Very unprofessional. If you go, make sure the "sheriff" isn't tending the bar.

As I strutted with purpose into this beaten down yet character-rich college bar on a frigid Tuesday…read moretrivia night wearing my flamboyant brown leather jacket and shiny dress shoes, I immediately felt out of place. However, as a thrill-seeking 24 year old young professional man who was merely visiting the city of Dayton on business, I shortly felt at home due to the college-like familiar atmosphere. I began to ponder whether or not I had actually traveled back in time but quickly realized that thought was nonsense. Nonetheless, other than the bizarre look that the bartender gave me as I ordered a $4 bottled Sam Adams as if he were trying to tell me, "Dude, the 22 ounce bud light tap beer is $3 a cup", I received no significant vibes from the multitude of college kids nearby. As it was Tuesday night and I had work the next day, I opted to settle for the lesser quantity premium beer. My only regret, not asking the friendly group of people next to me to join their trivia team, was an insignificant one. At any rate, I was pleased with the amicable service, moderate cleanliness, and entertainment that the two intoxicated women across the bar provided us all with on that cold Tuesday evening.

Recently I visited my hometown after many years of being absent to assist with a family emergency…read more One bright morning, I needed two things very badly: coffee, and a workspace. Chaffee's Brewhouse provided excellent drip coffee, espresso, and more. The service from the employees was excellent-on point, patience, informed, professional, and even better-friendly-the kind of friendly you only get from small midwestern towns. More importantly: there is food provided, and several rooms and areas to enjoy your food and drink, and Chaffees had an excellent quiet room that allowed me to setup my laptop and submit multiple million dollar proposals in while I drank my coffee. I can't wait to come back to town, if only for the coffee and the one thing I didn't get to do there: have a beer/cocktail at the end of the day. Don't pass this quiet but awesome establishment-its a great spot with great people.

However they were willing to add more milk to my drink when it seemed it did not have any, especially as an avid coffee drinker.

Went to The Brick Tap & Tavern because I had a taste for their tater tots. They normally do a…read morereally good job with tater tots. I ordered one serving which came out to $4. When I got home and I opened the container I had a total of 19 tater tots (in the picture there are only 18 because I was hungry and ate one) which came out to 4.25 ounces. I called Bricks and was told a normal serving is 6.5 ounces. At which point they said they were sorry and if I drove back they would make me another serving. My question to anyone who reads this...is this acceptable? They either screwed up or at worst they committed fraud but shorting my order. I appreciate them saying they would make another order, but to retrieve the order I have to waste more of my time, waste more of my gas, and God forbid if they did something to my order as retribution. Just saying gang, pay attention to your food and beverage orders, verify your bill and make sure you're getting what you pay for. Do better The Bricks Tap & Tavern...DO BETTER! I'm so disappointed with Bricks right now. But on the bright side I know now that I when I want good tater tots that I need to go to Kings Table Bar & Grill where I know I'll get great tots, a full serving of tots, all at a reasonable price. Sorry The Brick Tap & Tavern...probably won't' be coming back. BTW...a 32-ounce bag of Ore-Ida Tater Tots runs between $4.50 to $5.30.
