Manhattan, NY (midtown west) - originated from Denmark, O&S is known for their high-quality breads and baked goods, offering daily breads, sandwiches, toasties, soups, pastries, and a range of café drinks. Their seasonal and holiday themed treats are always adorable and delightful. I'm not usually a sweets person but hot damn, their CINNAMON SWIRL roll might just convert my savory-loving heart! It's a perfect union of chewy texture, stickiness, and flavor. Definitely get that. At $9 the HOT CHOKOLADE feels like an attack on your wallet, but Swiss Miss this ain't! It's extremely rich and velvety, like drinking a melted chocolate bar. And even though the cup seems small, trust me you'll want to share it to not drop dead of indulgence. Right across from Bryant Park, this location is always slammed so is not the most relaxing spot to hang out at, but is convenient for a quick caffeine-and-carb hit between tourist-ing or as you go about your business.

Was in the area and came across this cafe, which is very spacious inside. They seemed to have good selection of bakery items along with sweets and coffee and drinks. I got the cinnamon slice which wasn't bad. Seems like a good place to relax and maybe do some work while munching some goodies.

Every time I'm in New York always looking forward to stopping by an Ole & Steen Lagkagehuset location. Reminds me of my time in Denmark and all the yummy things there. Service is fast and perhaps more NYC streamlined than a traditional bakery, which usually will walk you down the counter and choose :-) I may need to try the Goldbelly shipping when not in NYC.

Had breakfast here during our trip to NYC. Spectacular! The breakfast pastries were delish. Had the Ham and Cheese Toasty, the Savory Spinach Swirl, The Avocado Egg Smorrebrod and the Cinnamon Social. All fresh and delicious. Coffee was good as well. Wish I had one these here in Atlanta. Counter Service was great and a cool European vibe inside. Wonderful!

I've previously been to the UES location, which I love. We came here on a Saturday after being turned off by the crowds and the expensive food prices at the Bryant Park Winter Village. Not a long line to order but many of the tables are occupied (seemed to be mainly by tourists). I ordered the following: Turkey feast sandwich $13.95 - very good! I love a good Thanksgiving sandwich! The stuffing on the sandwich appeared to have sausage meatballs in it so these were perfect for my baby Hot Chocolate $7.95 - I might consider this one of the top hot chocolates I've had in the city but when I realized what I was charged it became less appealing. For the size you get it's on the higher side and it didn't help that I didn't get a marshmallow. They ran out! Kloben bun $4.45 Total $28.29 Overall definitely a good option for grabbing food or pastries.

I wish I could drink Ole & Steen hot chocolate every cold day of my life! Something about it reminds me of the Dominican hot chocolate my mom makes , and they add a big square marshmallow to sweeten the deal. Literally so super delicious. I also loved their chocolate swirl and fig slice pastries and found myself picking up some more for the plane ride back home! This location offers savory bites and sweet treats as well as cafe beverages and a grab and go bottled drink station. They also have lots of seating for working, studying, or just enjoying your order. I high recommend this location and can't wait for my next trip to try more of their bites and for another cup of hot cocoa!

Hot chocolate was very yummy. Especially loved the marshmallow. The Copenhagen pastry was super yummy. The almond raisin pasty was not good. It just had too much spice flavor. Service was ok.

Ole & Steen is a must visit if you love cinnamon rolls. I stopped in here for one and it was so delicious. The cafe is very no frills, doesn't have that comfy cozy or hip vibe but the bakery items make up for it so much! The cinnamon roll must be about 7,000 calories but it's so worth it. I treated myself to this along with some other breakfast items from nearby and enjoyed them in Bryant park. Such a relaxing treat.

Efficient staff, tasty pastries, and tons of indoor seating, but coffee didn't quite hit the spot as much as some of the nearby cafes. My mocha didn't taste enough like coffee or chocolate and it felt like I was drinking a tall cup of hot milk. Not bad for warming up on a chilly afternoon but not what I was looking for.

Great eats! I went here Sunday, after the Bryant Park Festival event market. So, I was hungry, but didn't want junk food I got the beet & Feta, Arugula Salad for dinner & topped it off w/ these great & tasty Lavender sugar cookies It's a healthy spot to eat. Im definitely, going bk for the Lavender sugar cookies, it's a different twist. I recommend this location.

We came in for a drink. the ambiance was fine. standard for New York to be honest. The service however wasn't. Workers weren't necessarily rude but completely indifferent. that alone makes me never want to come back. However, the worst part was the food. I tried their matcha latte and was in utter shock at the lack of flavor. The only thing matcha about the drink was the color. It tasted like nothing but watered down water and milk. I spilt the drink and the worker rudely disregarded me. We felt very bad and decided to get the mousse cake to try something else. It ended up being nothing special. It was overwhelmingly sweet, which overpowered the chocolate taste to the point it didn't even seem like a chocolate cake anymore. Altogether, this place was horrible. Don't recommend. For the prices they charge you're better off anywhere else.

Loved this German bakery!!! Went there every single day, their different hot chocolates were great! Their cinnamon and chocolate rolls were also amazing. Even got one of their sandwiches for lunch. The cool part about this place is that it is right across the street from Bryant Park Winter Village. Can't say enough positive things about this place. For sure will return when visiting Times Square.

This rating may as well be for just that because it was so so standout. I've never eaten anything so beautiful. And it was one of the most delicious desserts I could ever dream of eating. After the fact it feels like the entire meal was leading up to it. Everything else was of course good, and beautiful, but the birds nest was really just in a league of it's own. Definitely one of my most memorable bites of the year. I love that the kitchen is just beyond some huge glass panes so I could see the movement and mastery (at a distance) before me. Our meal was maybe 3 hours which was perfect because we were able to amble here after watching a taping of the late show with stephen colbert and then run out to meet some friends at midtown. The little containers of sea salt they left us with were also so cute. Unfortunately my bf was still a little hungry but i was feeling great after the meal. The only thing that irked me was just a silly little fly that just kept buzzing around me the entire time we were there.

No flashy signs or neon lighting; the name of the restaurant is simply painted on the side of the building, but hidden a bit by the umbrellas and outdoor seating. The vibe inside is chill. Tonight's playlist included Sza, Clairo, and Kali Uchis. Everyone in the restaurant appeared to be in their 20s and 30s. There was one waiter who also served as the host and bartender. Additional staff was preparing food in the back. The interior of Smør is small. It's like a café. There were three booths for four people each, three small metal tables for two people each, and the bar could seat four people on stools. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm. Several people came by and inquired about eating inside, but all that was left was exterior seating. I ordered the Danish hot dog. The remoulade was light and tasty, the onions were crunchy, and the pickles were fresh, but not sour. The hot dog had a great snap and the bread tasted homemade. Wonderful textures going on with this. I'd get it again. My husband got the Swedish meatballs. He said it was exactly what he wanted it to be. A great dish for a winter evening. The pancakes are amazing. Swimming in butter and topped with whipped cream and lingonberry sauce. The best thing I've tasted this month. Our choices were their Artisanal smoked, Pastrami Cured smoked, Togarashi smoked, and Norwegian smoked. The condiments were a mustard and dill sauce. The salmon was melt in your mouth good! So good, you didn't need the sauces. We did taste both and liked the mustard. Didn't use much of it though. You'll enjoy the minimalistic chic decor, the open kitchen, the excellent service, and of course the food. Let's talk about that last part since you're going to spend a pretty penny if you go here. Like all tasting menus, there will be some variance although certainly there are some dishes that often are the "star" of the proverbial show. I'm not going to mention everything, but here is what stood out: Sea Oak: This is the first item we received, and it kind of looks like a colorful edible twig. There were purple and yellow hues and true to its name it tasted like a fresh dip in the sea. Apparently, they use algae and blue mussels to make this dish. It's fun and creative and a great start to your meal. Caviar: This one looked like a dark cupcake with the base made from kingfish and eel while the top was absolutely overflowing in what was clearly a super high end caviar (certainly memorable at least to me). This was a stunning visual with extraordinary taste. Claw: This dish looks nothing like a claw. Instead, rounded wheels resembling lotus root are flavored with rose and berry. Gently stuffed inside you will find langoustine claw meat. This had really strong Indian flavors and was highly enjoyable. Custard: This was like the Nordic version of chawanmushi except this savory custard was dollops of trout roe, seaweed, and exhibits a strong seafood broth flavor. Hake: This was the best preparation I've ever had of the fish. The sauce is somewhat indescribable to me, and yet what really stood out is the absolute perfect texture of the fish. The restaurant is fairly well know for their hake and it's easy to see why. Quail and Venison: Both of these dishes were well prepared meats that actually served as perfect boats for the incredible mushrooms accompanying both meats. After eating this dish, I could see why Aska is confident enough to boast a full vegetarian tasting menu. Those mushrooms were among the best items of this entire meal. Pear: I really hope they keep this on because this light pear dish accented with cardamom and copious amounts of butter was an absolute delight. Again, the dish exhibited relatively strong Indian flavors and may have been my favorite dish of the entire evening. Why not five stars? At this price point, I would expect every dish to hit and there were a couple that just didn't for me (not too many but a couple). It was probably a bit too seafood heavy for me and I think I prefer omakase if I'm going that route. I will say that the tasting menu, the service, and atmosphere are all wonderful and a worthy overall experience. I'm definitely glad I was able to visit.
