I got special permission to telework so I could be here. Literally less than 1 hour before the appointment, I got a call from John asking if I can reschedule. I told him that I could not but I was not able to talk so I called him back about 30 minutes later. I made it clear that I was very unhappy about this because I had taken the day to have him come over. John said, "I'm not gonna make a bid deal about this. I'm telling you we're not coming today and do you want to reschedule?" I was very disappointed as his tone was clearly dismissive. There was no explanation as to why this happened or an attempt to be apologetic. If this is the kind of interaction I get when I'm trying to decide to hire you, what will it be like when I've already given you guys a deposit? It's too bad because the reason I reached out to them was because of friend of mine had a good experience with them. These guys ought to realize the importance of personal references. Mine won't be good!

Three months later, after a dozen calls and emails I got me a bill for a visit when I wasn't home nor approved, an estimate for something I didn't ask, and still no estimate for what I need, and no work has been done. 3 wasted months, a $500 bill, and now I am searching for new roofing companies.

We interviewed perhaps 8 different roofing companies for work on our Wardman corner townhouse in…read moreDC, and Wagner was the clear leader for the work we needed -- putting a TPO flat roof on our house (above a slate mansard edge). In fact, a number of the others came over and said, "Umm, no, we can't do this. Try Wagner." We worked with Sam Nicolette at the office, who couldn't have stayed more on top of our job and on communication (sometimes multiple times a day) with us. The house is 100 years old, with multiple skylights punched through the roof, and it shares a party wall (and roof) with our neighbor. Intricate scaffolding went up, the men worked incredibly hard and were careful of our yard. They carefully peeled off the degraded roof (and bazillion patches) and surveyed for damage/rot/termites to the wooden structure underneath (thankfully there was none) and then recreated the roof, taking special care around the various (4!) skylights. Sam and the foreman even handled the difficult challenges raised by having to do only "half" a roof, as the neighbor's house took up half the flat roof (and was a different surface). The copper flashing work was beautifully done. While the work wasn't cheap, the work was worth the cost. Give Sam a call. He and Wagner are great.

The most expensive started at $20K and without changing anything at all came down to $9,500 after I said no for about 30 minutes. That reminds me of another aspect of what I liked about Master Roofing. There was absolutely zero pressure. I was not made to feel if I didn't sign on the bottom line immediately, I'd lose out on special pricing. Master Roofing did not make me sit with them - Some companies required my wife to be there with me for the hours long intimidation sales pitch. Lastly, their employees are not subcontractors who worked very hard did a great job. I've been in general construction most of my life and nothing jumped out to me as being done incorrectly or half-assed. I also sent pictures and questions to my cousin in GA who literally builds entire houses. He said it looks great. I had a great experience with a small, family run business that's been in business for decades and wanted to share my opinion because of it. I don't usually type up reviews due to lack of time, life moving so fast, etc. but I had to share my experience. I highly recommend this company!

I put out a request on Yelp for quotes on our project and received 4 responses. 2 of the companies were the same, but under different names. They came out, provided quotes, but were not licensed with the state. Jean Paul responded with a price and what was included. After a little back and forth, I asked him to inspect the job in person, which he did. He confirmed his price, and submitted an official quote. I was able to obtain our permit, HOA approval, verify JPQ Construction and Jean Paul were both licensed with Maryland state, as well verify the company's liability insurance. Other than a small hiccup with the start date due to not contacting Miss Utility, this project went really well. Jean Paul and his team are really nice to work with, did great work, and insures his work. We will work with him again!

The owner, Stephen, was the only roofer I spoke with who spoke to me as a person, answering any questions and concerns I had before, during and after the process (involving more than aesthetics of course). I'm upset I have to say this in this day and age, but as a female he also didn't talk to me as though I'd only care about aesthetics or assume/inquire about a husband before/during discussions. People are people- gender aside and I wanted to understand the process and quailing of the shingles I was paying for as much anyone with a wallet. Thank you Stephen! That seems important to mention. Stephens crew was extremely efficient. They appropriately cared for landscaping around my house before removing the old shingles and they did a stellar job with clean up at the end of the job. I definitely recommend SNap Roofing to anyone looking for an honest, straight forward, quality and excellent local roofer!
