Master Roofing and Siding did a fantastic job on our roof. They were not the cheapest of the three to four companies I requested quotes from but they by far were not the most expensive. The most expensive started at $20K and without changing anything at all came down to $9,500 after I said no for about 30 minutes. That reminds me of another aspect of what I liked about Master Roofing. There was absolutely zero pressure. I was not made to feel if I didn't sign on the bottom line immediately, I'd lose out on special pricing. Master Roofing did not make me sit with them - Some companies required my wife to be there with me for the hours long intimidation sales pitch. Lastly, their employees are not subcontractors who worked very hard did a great job. I've been in general construction most of my life and nothing jumped out to me as being done incorrectly or half-assed. I also sent pictures and questions to my cousin in GA who literally builds entire houses. He said it looks great. I had a great experience with a small, family run business that's been in business for decades and wanted to share my opinion because of it. I don't usually type up reviews due to lack of time, life moving so fast, etc. but I had to share my experience. I highly recommend this company! read more

All of the construction waste was taken out. Your siding might fall off. Mine did. This was part of a complete Master Roofing roof\siding\trim\gutter job on the house and 12x12 shed. No pressure washing. Just sun, wind, and rain. More than a few large problems. After sales service poor. Very disappointed. read more

Contacted them as VA home inspectors do not perform roof inspections (a separate issue in itself). Friendly enough and set a guy out to look quickly. It was March-ish and we'd had recent snow. That's where it goes downhill. My inspection report was really a services report. The guy who called explained that I could go with two different types of roof work, one would be more of a temporary fix the other would be long term and how much they would cost. I explained to him that I had requested an inspection and while he seemed confused his response was it looked okay. Then the kicker. I received an invoice for $125. A fee which was not explained to me at the time of appointment. I called and spoke with the office and they basically said I was SOL. They made is sound as though any sales call was billable. Not sure if that is an industry standard or not. Either way, not happy, I figured since I requested an inspection, and am paying a fee for it, I should get some sort of inspection report. I got one. Months later. After a couple invoice demand notices. The inspection report was two lines to the effect of minor damage, could be problems under edges, this is not an inspection or warranty. Such as it was, I begrudgingly paid the invoice (the original call was March and all this wrapped up last week). They may actually do good roofing work but the whole experience left me with a bad taste (and concerns about potential hidden charges) so I'll be talking to the plethora of other providers to have work done. read more

Master Roofing replaced the roof on a rental house I own in Springfield about ten years ago. I have had leaking issues with it ever since! I had additional repairs done last summer, and just yesterday someone was out to check on ANOTHER place where rain was getting in! The worker said that a nail had been put in the wrong place, took out the nail, and applied a sealant. And by the way, yes, I have asked if I should just have a new roof put on, and was told last year by several estimators that it wasn't necessary because the shingles were fine. Water spots started showing up in all three top floor bedrooms after I bought my house, so I called Master Roofing to see if they even did repairs, or just new roofs. The woman who answered the phone and Mark, who she handed the phone to, were both brusque and short on the phone. I should have stopped there. But Mark came out the next day to look at the roof. He saw the water stains indoors (with his mask below his nose the whole time, ugh), listened to me about where I saw water dripping in the attic, but did not go in the attic, and went on the roof. He claimed to find nothing on the roof but a couple of dips in the shingles, but offered to put caulk over some spots just in case. Like an idiot first time homeowner trusting the professional, I said yes. He put white caulk on my grey shingles, asked for cash for it, admitted it might not fix it, and left. Now I have white spots on my grey roof that anyone can see, that can't be pulled off without damaging the shingles, and obviously it didn't fix the problem. So now I have a messy aesthetic problem in addition to the leaks he didn't find. I'm not impressed, to say the least. I don't know if he's a genius grifter who saw a young, new homeowner and took me on purpose, or if he's bad at his job and thought the caulk would dry clear, or what. Either way, I'm worse off than before calling Master Roofing, unfortunately. read more

About 15 years ago, Master Roofing removed the shingles from our roof, replaced some of the plywood decking, and then reshingled the house. And I think they did a good job. Lately, we've developed a roof leak. I called Master three different times over a 3-month period to ask them to come out and look at the roof. Each time, I politely mentioned that they had installed the current roof. They always politely promised to look at the roof but they never showed up. These clowns don't service what they sell. Master Roofing did a great job replacing our hail damaged roof. They stripped our roof and replaced the shingles in 1 day. Wes from Master roofing even came to our house while our Insurance adjuster was there and Wes knew more about the laws in our town than the Insurance adjuster. The adjuster said they would pay to have just the front half of the roof replaced and Wes said "No sir, you will replace the entire roof" then Wes proceeded to show him the law in Longmont states that if one 10x10 area is damaged the entire roof must be replaced. Not a great company. Dick, their estimator, seems like a nice guy but is definitely not. When he gave me the estimate he was so pleasant. But after the roof was on for about 12 months and started leaking and ruining my ceilings he was not pleasant. I spent $10K on a new roof and it started leaking in less than 12 months! Dick came back and found the problem and fixed it. I asked him if Master Roof repaired the damage to the ceilings. He said, "No, but you can get some Kilz and then paint over the stains and then a top coat of ceiling paint". I didn't think that that was a great answer. My house was built about the same time as 25 other houses in my neighborhood and they are all in need of new roofs. I spoke to most of the other neighbors about Dick's response. They all said they would not use Master Roof. I figure I blew up about $100K to $150K in business for Master Roof. Nice work Dick! read more

I contacted Master Roofing to get a bid on replacing the roof on my 90 year old home in Arlington. Rick came out and looked it over and told me my roof was good for another ten years. I showed him where I had a spot on my second floor where water was apparently leaking in. He got his ladder out climbed up my very steep roof and identified two nail holes that he fixed on the spot with some silicone he had in his truck. No charge! This man is a gentleman and takes pride in his profession. I highly recommend Master Roofing. Rick had some shingle samples and we went through the benefits of each type. Looks like a thick architectural shingle is the best value for the money. If and when I replace my roof they will be my choice. read more

We have used Master Roofing & Siding's services for over 22 years. Our first experience was with Mr. Floyd regarding installation of a gutter leaf guard system on our primary residence. 10 years afterwards we built a large addition and Master Roofing installed the new roof and re-roofed the existing roofs with their highest grade shingles. This now 12 year roof still looks brand new.. All gutters and downspouts were replaced too and an upgraded leaf guard system was part of the enhancements. When we bought a vacation home, the company replaced the entire roof with high quality Slate type rubber shingles that are virtually indistinguishable from much heavier (and expensive) slate. When we bought a home with our son in Old Town Alexandria about 2 1/2 years ago, we trusted the company with a pre-purchase roof inspection. Two years later they installed upgraded gutters with a leaf guard system as well as 2 new skylights. We have entrusted this company for over 22 years with all of our roofing needs and have found its estimating and actual installation service competitive, well executed and courteous. We never felt pressured. Taking this a step further: in a couple of instances we were advised to "not change or upgrade a thing, because your roofing system is in good shape".
