My favorite sandwich here is the pastrami. Hot and tasty, this sandwich is served on griddle toasted rye with choice of chips. My favorite pastrami in Cleveland. Great little local gem. Not gimmicky or fancy. It's very basic but clean inside. Muted Browns/ earth tones in true diner fashion. They serve up the BEST DAMN DELI food for miles. Sandwiches, gyros, wraps, burgers and dinners. All are the best quality. (Meats are neither greasy, nor dry) The portions are very healthy also. This seems to be a family operation or the staff is as close as family to one another. Nicest people, always welcoming and willing to answer questions or take custom orders even when they are busting ass to to keep up. (Very often) They're not understaffed. I got the Greek salad wrap. It was chuck full of feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, it was delicious. Not little or skimpy at all. The hummus was very good as well. Hey this was a really great lunch. We found the place on Yelp and I was intrigued by the menu. I stopped in and ordered an Italian sandwich (the Pompeii) and a Reuben. The Reuben is one of the Best I've ever had- quality meat, nice and tangy kraut, and a classic bread. I made the delicious mistake of eating it in the car and it was so worth the mess I also took home some hummus, which was very good. I added a little lemon. Their website says 'with a smile' and that's so true. The guy who helped me was so kind and friendly. We chatted a little bit. I was like n awe of the menu- so many things I want to try! Not just a sandwich! Wow! I had the Tuna melt; thick layer of savory tuna salad with melted cheese on perfectly toasted Italian bread. This place elevates the sandwich! It was delicious. I truly enjoyed every bite! My son had The Philadelphia; piles of mouth-wateringly delicious pastrami with slaw on perfectly toasted rye bread. Soooo tasty! We topped it off with Baklava. Deceptively simple facade in a strip of businesses housing some of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever eaten, and did I mention the outstanding hospitality. Food quality was darn good, but the staff seemed stressed out and in the weeds the whole time I was there. Maybe they were understaffed that day. It took about 25 minutes to get my Ruben sandwich around 11am (before lunch rush). Despite that, they were doing their best and it showed on every order I saw go out. I cannot recommend the potato chips, they were some kind of off-brand variety that I didn't enjoy. read more

I had a turkey Reuben with fries instead of chips. There's not much in the way of take out by my office, so I usually have to drive in order to find anything decent. I tried on several occasions to call the location as the app they were using informed me that my order had not been approved. The doors are locked, and they place take out orders on a table outside the front door. Be mindful that if you change out fries for chips it's an extra $1.50 and the don't add it to the order. They asked me to pay it in cash. I was a bit taken aback by this, as I know that money is considered pretty dirty and in the age of a pandemic, I would think they would prefer electronic payments only. I was a bit confused by the customer service, online ordering app, and the lack of ability to communicate with the proprietor. The food however, is VERY good. Opened Yelp last week on a whim and this deli was the first place recommended to me. I'm a sucker for a classic deli and this one being so close to my home I couldn't help but stop in for lunch. I was expecting a pretty basic affair, and Old World Deli WAY over delivered. The food was absolutely incredible. I had a corned beef on rye and it was out of this world. We also tried the dolmas which were perfect. Then one of the owners came from around the counter just to have us try a sample of their gyro meat...and if I wasn't so full already I may have honestly bought a gyro because the meat was so good. No exaggeration it was the best gyro meat I've ever had, and I've been eating gyros since before I could walk. I could write 1000 more words about how much I loved this place. My usage as a reviewer in the time I've used Yelp should be a pretty decent indicator of how legitimately great this place is. I would not have taken the time to write this review otherwise. It's one of the very few places I've been in recent memory where I sincerely felt like the money spent was worth it. If you haven't been, go. And if you have been, go again. I hate to admit that I often forget about this gem right in my backyard. I've been here many times and I have never been disappointed. The deli sandwiches are all outstanding and I don't think you can go wrong. The gyro is amazing! I hate the fact that I don't remember to eat here more often because that means there are gyros I am missing out on. I get the regular size gyro and it is perfectly sized to fill me up. Something I love about this place is all of the "extras." They have a ton of options: great fries, tasty jo-jos, sauerkraut balls, fried mushrooms....It reminds me of the café at the summer camp I went to as a kid. So many great things to choose from! Last thing: the staff. Food service can be challenging but these people are wonderful. They have always been so welcoming and friendly.
