Looking out, at the bay, from the common room, while enjoying my morning coffee.

The hotel was warm and inviting. The decor makes me feel like I'm staying at grandmas. We had room #1, which was quite spacious and had a full bath and tub. It is right next to the common room which we spend a lot of time in reading and drinking tea. There is also a great view of the bay from our window. There was only two pillows (and that were lumpy). I should have asked for more. I would stay here again. I was glad There was no children here because I was able to relax (kids would be bored here anyway).

We arrived at the Old Wheeler around 7p.m. after spending the day driving from Ocean Shores, WA and making some stops along the way in Cannon Beach, OR et cetera. From their website, you get to choose the room you'd like to book for any given night. When I made the reservation online (for room #6), I received a phone call about 10 minutes later from the hotel asking what my guest's name was for their records. When we arrived, we had a personalized printed tag on the door saying "Welcome Brooke & Josh", which was a nice touch. Before the clerk took us to our room, she gave us a tour of the common area where there are a couple of couches to sit on, where the continental breakfast in the morning would be served, and they have a small collection of books to choose from if you'd rather read than watch television. They have an assortment of hot chocolate, tea and coffee, along with filtered water to choose from at any time of the day AND they have a selection of the 20 greatest American movies of all time, on DVD, to watch in your room. Yes, the room is equipped with a DVD player (and I assume the rest of the rooms here are as well). There is also a "piano room" with a piano and love seat to lounge about on if you're so inclined. The private bathroom "down the hall" is in fact, down the hall, but is also private. The key you're given to your room unlocks your room and the private bathroom, so no other guests can creep in and look through your toiletries. It's a bit inconvenient to have to walk down the hall in the middle of the night, but hey, you take what you can. I'd have to say all the additional amenities make up for the trek down the hall. Additionally, they don't have the cheap and cheesy toiletries you find in the run of the mill joints you can find anywhere. I'm definitely a fan of the E.O. (Essential Oil products) grapefruit and mint glycerine soap. All in all, I would definitely stay here again based on my experience thus far. Additionally, all you have to do is walk across the street to a cute little park bench and relax for a bit. Oh, and the continental breakfast begins at 7 and is open till "whenever" which is great for those of us who have a hard time getting up early on our vacation! :)

I have stayed several times here over many years. I love the ambiance. It is filled with antiques and warmth. I love sitting in the dining area and looking out at the water view. Katie, the owner is a treasure.

My now husband and I have been coming to the Old Wheeler Hotel for years! In fact, it was the first hotel we stayed at together on the coast. So of course it only made sense to return for our honeymoon especially since they now have a beautiful honeymoon suite with a comfortable king size bed and an in room jacuzzi tub! This is the perfect hotel for a romantic getaway with the one you love! We plan to keep going back for years to come!

Amazingly soft and comfy beds! The old-timey decor was fun. The owner was super nice! Easy parking and loading. Would stay here again!

This is our fourth visit. It is such a pleasure. Room 2 is great. Katie does such a great job making people feel welcome. We will return.

Update: I wish I could give 0 stars. Last night someone came into our camp and took our bag of…read morecans to recycle. In Oregon those are worth $. I'm totally okay with the taking of cans as my intent was to sit them by the dumpster for anyone to take. However, I'm not okay with the coming into our spot in the wee hours uninvited to take them. This same night, I can tell other things were rifled through.... I know this can happen anywhere, but given it happened here in this already iffy place further reinforces my dislike for the place. Original review: They get one star because they're very deceptive in advertising (website) and facilities are very run down. My guess is that about 75% of the park are long term tenants although staff will say "there are just a few". Many of those long term tenant's homes are in disrepair. Pros: free boat moorage and boat trailer parking. The tent sites are decent. The 50 amp sites are decent. It's quiet at night. Cons: because of the quantity of long term tenants, there are very few 30amp sites to choose from. We were originally in a 30/50amp site which they said was fine for the duration of our 2 week stay. Then on day 4, they said we have to move because they over booked the 50amp sites. They moved us into a 30amp, squeezed in between two other sites. Their 30amp sites have no tables, no fire rings, and are crammed in like sardines. Some sites don't even allow space to put an awning out. We were lucky enough to get our awning out just before it touched the neighbors slide. This park is not family friendly. The pool and spa have been closed for years. Everything is very run down and in disrepair. I think this park is really for the avid fishing people who want to be out on the water all day then have their RV at night solely for sleep. There's nothing else to do here. It's not walkable, no beach access, no shore access. Just sit outside and stare at your neighbors sewer line running along the edge of your camp. Boring and basic.

Really a tough place to review as there is good and there is bad. The RVs are almost on top of…read moreeach other. It's fine if you don't have slides and your neighbors don't either I would think. Many sites are left junky by the "tenants" with crap all over. There appears to be virtually no maintenace. Huge potholes getting down to the water view sites. The laundry is a disaster. Most of the machines are rusted and don't work. Pool table and ping pong table equipment have seen their better days. Workers do their best to keep what they have to work with clean. They are friendly but I'm sure their hands are tied by what they can do. The clubhouse and restrooms are clean and kept up. Many renters use the boat docks for their boats. There is crabbing from the dock but bring your own equipment. There is also a crab pot running during the day to cook the crabs. We saw one boater come in and cook a bucket full of only legs. He'd taken the bodies off. We didn't see him after that so guessing he came in from another park or locally. The game warden definitely needs to visit. The upper part of the park has nice large sites with 50amp but no water view. Howver, it depends on what you prefer. We had stayed at this park several years ago and it was really a nice place to spend a little time. I'm not so sure I would choose to return but maybe if we needed one night or two until we found another place. It's way too cramped and the spaces are so tiny. The park is for sale and that's probably why it's run the way it is. The view from the lower level is definitely awesome though. We found most of the people staying there to be nice and friendly.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay here at The Spinn this weekend. It is perfectly located to…read moreeverything, just steps from the beach to the left and steps to shops to the right. There's plenty of parking, and check in was super easy, you go up to a counter in the Cafe & they assign your phone number as your code for your keypad on your door. Though, the cafe was super busy when we arrived & another set of guests arrived right after me and stood closer up my arse than even my husband. The rooms are spacious and I really like the vibe in them. The dark, textured soundboard wall is great, the lighting is dimmable and moody, and having a Jack Johnson record & player in the room is a magical touch. The room is stocked with plenty of towels (thank you! Why isnt this always the case?!) and extra bedding and pillows for the sofa bed. Robes, again a magical touch. The soaps are great quality, and all have a nice matching scent. For being pet friendly (I'm not a dog fan + I have asthma) I was worried when I booked it, but there wasn't a trace of dog in our room, yay! The bedding is very comfy, the mattress and pillows good! Only downfall is that the metal bed creaks pretty bad, in our room at least. A sound like nails on a chalkboard when you toss and turn in your sleep. I dont see an ice machine available & I wish hotels would start providing bottled water or some sort of drinking water system, because the only option for water is tap from the bathroom or the super spendy boutique grocery up the street. There was a super random, strong unpleasant scent in our room one day, but by the time we had opened the doors to air it out, it was pretty much gone. But my biggest challenge here was the thin walls. You can hear everything, even with it all being one level. We have two kids, so we're understanding to noise, but some people, including those booked right next to us, parent differently because they let their kid stomp and bounce around alllll day and night. I mean it. I finally got to sleep and then woke up to pee at 11:30pm, still heard the bouncing & then heard the dad say "enough, go to bed!". At $200/night with fees, it's an expensive stay for what you get, comparatively to stays at other beaches. A lux bed & breakfast in Lincoln City, or hotels with pools, saunas, cookies in the lobby, wine & cheese hour, fire pits and with ocean views..BUT you're in Manzanita. The options are limited to none so you get what's available & they don't have any of that here. Homes, hotels, rentals, food, etc. are all high price. It's a wonderful relaxed town and the beach is gorgeous and my favorite on the coast. Stay if that's what you're looking for and you don't mind splurging a little extra for basics to be here.
