The food,service, atmosphere, prices, portions, everything was excellent! I highly recommend this place!

Had a big family lunch here with 14 people and two kids. Service was great, but a little slow. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta and the dinner salad with house Italian dressing. The server said the recipe for the house dressing was top secret but it wasn't that great to me... mostly oil with a few seasonings that sunk to the bottom. The chicken parmigiana was awesome! It was a huge piece of perfectly cooked chicken and lots of tomato sauce and cheese. Would order that again! My husband got the chicken florentine. He said it was served cold but thought it had nice flavors. The bread with garlic butter is good like everyone says. The sweetest part was when our nephew busted his mouth falling into a chair, the waiter brought him a plate of vanilla ice cream for free. Too bad he is lactose intolerant.. haha. Very sweet though. I was visiting Jackson for a couple nights and heard this was the place to go for the best pasta in town, I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food and service was! Since I'm from St. Louis I was VERY happy to see they had toasted ravioli on their menu and it's a must order appetizer in my opinion. Everyone at the table loved their meal! Plus they have happy hour until 8 o'clock every night which I feel is unheard of. The waitress were good they can't help it's the rule for big parties to have to sit by the person that is on their ticket. We came with our 8 year soccer team and of course they all wanted to sit together . The waitresses did a great job . The food was sub par and the sauce was horrible . I will definately share with other teams to never come here for an outing . I am sure Jackson TN has other places that would accomodate teams and their families. This has been my favorite restaurant up until tonight. Guys at work has been telling me that they have the best prime rib in Jackson, so I choose this night to leave my favorite dish, for my next favorite of 10oz prime rib. Boy did I make a mistake, just being upfront and honest. Worst than chewing a piece of leather, I have had 100 times better from the 100 dollar steak deal from the Schwann's truck. The bread was amazing and the service was great. Lost a star because the rest of the food was hit or miss. Chicken tenders were blah, fried zucchini was amazing. Ravioli was delicious, house salads were just lettuce with 1 crouton, one cucumber and one tomato. Snapper was over cooked but husband loved his spaghetti. I am really torn on wether to try this place again because it was either great or not! I really wanted the shrimp and grits features on their website but it is apparently an occasional special,sigh... Best I can say is give it a try. Used to love this place, things change. Here is a warning do not order a salad, the ingredients are not fresh. Tonight there was rotten lettuce in my bowl not wanting to get sick from eating old rotted lettuce I asked for another and it was not any better so I just sent it back. Maybe they should buy fresh produce and fire the prep guy. If I ever eat there again it will only be because we have gift cards to use up then it will be off to better fresher food. I was skeptical when I was brought in for a business lunch. And then I was wowed! Starting with the side salad with fresh raw veggies and a decadent, delicious bleu cheese dressing! I could have made a meal of this and been happy. But then the chicken parm and spaghetti was served. The sauce! Wow! And the chicken parm literally had me do a Peyton Manning imitation as I sang out loud; chicken parm you taste so good... Excellent choice and no wonder it won the readers choice award from the Jackson Sun! read more

Theres nothing old town or spaghetti about this place. When you arrive at a restaurant and its full, you think the place is great. You can even look past the over done American interpretation of I-talian restaurant "decor" (pretty sure most places dont need to spell spaghetti or ziti on the walls in giant letters or put italian product boxes all over to convince you they are authentic). The bread arrives and its not bad, so your hopes are high. You see dishes go by and from afar, everything looks right, so you order. Appetizers come. Fried Ravioli and cheese sticks. Im going to guess provided by Sysco food trucks. They are so-so. As you look at the menu, you are happy when you see an italian joint that offers pasta combos like you can get some lasagna with a side of spaghetti or alfredo. You think to yourself, SCORE, who doesnt love good pasta, and double up on your faves, this is a win. First red flag goes up when you are asked if you want to "upgrade" your salad to a house salad. Wait, what?! Upgrade to a house salad. Every single other restaurant in the history of man, the house salad is the starting point. You say yes and its $1.00 more for 3 cherry tomatoes, 2 slices of cucumber and some croutons. Screams to me their food manager doesn't know how to price out like 99.9% of the rest of the restaurants that exist. Then your meal of lasagna and a side of alfredo arrives. Someone else at your table has chicken marsala. All the sauces have this photoshopped look of pure sheen on them. It doesnt look right. You know its sat under a heat lamp and started to skin over. What good italian sauce does that? First bite of the lasagna. You notice just how fast the fork takes a piece off the cut. The noodles are slightly over done, par for the course for most places. First bite, I think they forgot the flavor. Bland, watery sauce, no richness - Chef Boy'Arde out of can packs more flavor. Your bite of that glossed over matte finished alfredo fettucine? Flour and something, but less flavor than the lasagna. Almost no flavor. You look around to see who else in the joint has either of these on their plates, you cant find anyone. Do they know something I don't? Did I miss some dish this place is known for? The food was terrible. No flavor. None. I say skip this joint no matter how long its been in town. It makes Olive Garden look like an epiphany. Gross. read more

We go to this restaurant every now and then when others are to crowded. They have recently changed their menu and raised prices. The food has always been just ok and this experience was no different. My wife ordered water with extra lemon. They refused extra lemon, stating they could bring her a bowl of them for $1. I laughed in the waiters face, thinking he was joking. But it's on the menu ha! That's what got this place the third star. Very affordable-but you pay for what you get. I got a cup of soup and an entree for 11 dollars. The soup was salty, and the entree was poorly executed. Chicken Marsala--I don't think wine was involved in the making of the dish at all. Marsala sauce is a wine sauce, not a gravy. Again, salty. Others at my table were more pleased with their dishes. The side salad that others chose was actually really good looking--get that over the soup any day. Also, stick to the simple pasta dishes as they didn't disappoint. read more

Sigh. Another Jackson restaurant that I miss. The best spaghetti and meat sauce I've ever had. (Better than my grandma's, but please don't tell her I said that!) But I like BASIC spaghetti and meat sauce, no mushrooms or olives or any of that business. The pre-meal bread is awesome, and anything fried is equally awesome: fried zucchini, fried cheese, toasted ravioli...you get the idea. Old Town Spaghetti Store is a Jackson favorite. Their staff makes sure you have a great time. My personal favorite is the to-go order process. You can phone in your order and drive up and someone meets you in your car; you never have to leave. 2 stars is for the bread and the mint at the end of the meal that was delectable. We were sat in the bar area where the server gave the hostess a nasty look presumably because she didn't want more tables which set the tone for the terrible meal and service. The server was very cold and seemed annoyed the whole time. As I mentioned the bread was good, we ordered mozzarella sticks and they were decent but a little cold. For our main course we ordered lasagna and ravioli. The lasagna was swimming in sauce that was somehow bland yet exceedingly salty. I took two bites and couldn't finish the rest. The ravioli noodles were overlooked, and the meat sauce tasted stale. Our server did offer us something else, yet we had enough. We left with empty stomachs and were out $46. We will NOT be back. Our waiter, Grant was amazing. He was very professional, on top of things, and quite knowledgeable of what he was selling. (He even suggested a seasonal dessert, which I took home and smashed.) I am and have always been willing to pay top dollar for good food and drinks. But to order 2 crown & cokes, make it a double, and get a tab of $31.00 is nowhere near reasonable, even for top shelf. My two friends had a total of 6 beers, 2 salads, and an appetizer and together their bill barely matched mine. I graciously paid the tab, and tipped accordingly (it's not the waitress's fault, after all). I hope they thoroughly enjoy those 31 dollars, because it will be the last dollar they will ever get from me. read more

This is my go-to place when I am in Jackson for lunch or dinner. I stopped here with my female family members after a Girl's Weekend in Memphis while heading back to Nashville. After lots of good eating in Memphis, I decided to keep it light and order the vegetable beef soup. Sadly, I have no nice words about the soup. It was a bit on the oily/greasy side, and the beef was mostly fat. I barely ate half the bowl. I'll remember this next time, because everything else I've ever had here is pretty good. Worst service ever!!!! Messed up my takeout order and when I brought it back I demanded a refund. The girl who took our order said they could void the charge but could only give us a gift card. I told her she could void the charge to which she replied "have you ever worked at a restaurant "? I told her I own a business and she could void the charge. After several minutes she returned and said they would refund the charge next Monday. This restaurant seems to have many policies which the servers accept as facts. I really wanted to love this place but sadly I cant. So I went in for lunch expecting maybe a 4 out of 5. What I got was a solid 3. I had their lunch special of Cajun chicken with Linguine and Alfredo sauce. The side choice was house salad or soup. I chose coup beef and vegetable. The soup was ok but a lot of canned vegetables. The bread was served with two types of butter one was butter with garlic salt sprinkled on top. The bread was over cooked. The pasta dish came out with a chicken cutlet. If that was a breast that chicken was not through puberty yet. The Cajun seasoning was just sprinkled on top of the cutlet and it was dry. What I thought I was getting was maybe a Cajun Alfredo sauce. Maybe this is my fault for just assuming but the Alfredo was straight out of can, jar or bag. The pasta was overdone as well. I am not saying it has to have a bite but this pasta needed some Viagra or something. The service was fine but I don't see myself coming back based in the food. Also I looked at dinner prices and wow they are very high priced for the quality. For lunch I think they are fairly prices but I would pay a few more bucks for better food. read more

Great Restaurant, I would recommend to anyone! Three generations of our family went to dinner Sunday night and we had a very pleasant evening. We received wonderful service. Our food was delicious and served warm and timely. We ordered appetizers, dinner, and deserts. The Ultimate Combo (what a value) and the Stuffed Mushroom appetizers were both yummy! We all ordered something different for dinner, great selection ...something for everyone! We split three deserts at the table: cheesecake, chocolate crunch pie, and the spumoni ice cream. They were all tasty! Plenty of food, we had several to - go boxes. Restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere was great. One additional note: my daughter was very impressed and thankful for the bench in the womens restroom that allowed her to feed the newest member of our family, Andrew at just two weeks old. read more

Quick Italian food for a good price. Recent renovations create a new and fresh look that still maintains an atmosphere that has long existed in this location. This has been a longtime favorite in the Jackson area for a good reason and holds up well against the Baudo's reputation. They usually have food and drink specials everyday and the home baked bread is always a plus. They need to improve the salad/vegetarian options and work on consistency with the lasagna. This place has gone down hill steadily over the years. It was never very good to begin with, but now it's downright abysmal. It's comically overpriced, the service is slow, the place is filthy, & the food, minus the fried stuff(not even they can screw that up), sucks. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'd rather eat Chef Boyardee. It's all frozen & canned food, plus last time we ate here both of our entrees were ice cold. It used to at least be edible, & what I considered the best of a bunch of bad options. i can no longer even say that about it. I ordered a salad for my family to be picked up. I specified that I did not want the salad that was just a bunch of lettuce. When we got hone and opened it, it was just a bunch of lettuce. When I called them all they wanted to do was tell me I had ordered the wrong salad. I asked for a partial refund which they denied.
