Old Town Spaghetti usually gets 5 stars in my book except for last Wednesday when we went my granddaughter found a long black hair in her baked spaghetti. Although the manager apologized and brought her out a fresh plate we were still charged for our food and had basically lost our appetites as would anyone. It will be hard to go back without the thought of that long hair in our food. You'd think restaurants would use hairnets and take better care to make sure hair in food doesn't happen and at the very least not charge for that meal. This is a very cute Italian restaurant with amazing food. I had the chicken Marsala and the chicken was crispy and the sauce on the dish was very flavorful. Our server Litta was very nice and attentive and made sure we were well taken care of and answered all of our questions. read more

I called in at 11:05 am for my lunch order. I eat lunch 11:30-12:30 - that way I do not have to spend my lunch hour waiting for my food. Today when I called at 11:05 am, they said it would be 25 minutes. I pulled into their parking spot at 11:33. No response. Finally at 11:40 I went into the restaurant. It was still not ready. It was not ready until 11:55 - 50 minutes after I called. They said they had several large orders before mine. Not a good excuse. After I complained - they did give me my lunch free. The lemon pepper chicken was horrid. It should never ever be on anyone's menu!! The meatloaf was unique. I enjoyed it, the potatoes were good... The Italian green beans were quite confusing. They seemed to be green beans cooked with great northern beans. Not a tasty combo, in my opinion. The spaghetti sauce is refreshing, quite vibrant and fresh. We usually just call in and order and go pick it up. The car service is spot on and the girls are always friendly. And for the most part the food is always good too. But the last time we got a to go order within hours after eating my husband got sick, now to be fair it could have been food poisoning or it could have just been that he had to he stomach flu. But I think the manager handled it wrong when he called to report it to her. She wanted to fight with him and tell him that he was wrong. What is wrong with just saying thank you for bringing that to my attention I will check into that. So far sir you are the only one has reported anything to me. Frequent traveler and visitor to the cry many times. Second experience at this nice little local restaurant. First was average but overall good. THIS VISIT was very poor service from waitress ranging from helpfulness, lack of knowledge f menu, and unprofessional comments of asking us he we knew we had to pay for an extra side of pasta we order and asking did we need our change when the cash presented was far over even 40% tip. Very awkward. Food was below average and had a very cheap taste to it. This time it was worse than Fazollis fast food Italian. On another special occasion we ventured out to have a great evening, and to try this Italian spot. We were going through reviews online previously, and I was surprised one evening for dinner. When you enter the establishment you immediately focus on your surroundings. It is nicely decorated and gives you the right impression that you will have a great meal. My eyes fell on the seating around the entrance to wait for out table. There was a big open space. We went on a weekend night and it was full. The wait was only a few minutes. I sat beside a beautiful fountain and moved closer for a better look. Unfortunately, there was no trickling water to add to the ambiance. So, I then looked around the room at the intricacies done in decorating. Soon, our table was ready and we were escorted over. The night was hot and the air inside was on and kicking. It was not too cold, but I was glad to be seated in the area with the ceiling fans. The other side had none, but the entire space was decorated with grapes an vintage wine vessels above. We asked for our favorite drinks but they didn't have both, but not frozen. I had the Moscoto sangria and he had Corona and was offered lime and salt...Wow, didn't know they knew that, but cool! My drink was full of ice, but I drank it anyway. We ordered a personal pizza as an appetizer and they serve a small bun of Italian bread with whipped butter. I was anticipating herb and olive oil, oh well. It was nicely baked and full of flavor. The pizza was nice and hot and had the most fresh mozzarella cheese ever (see the picture for long gooey strands) . Next, our soup and salad were served. I had the minestrone and he had a salad. The soup was nice, but needed a bit more flavor. At this time I looked around the restaurant again for any kind of diversity. There was none to be found and I was being glared at from many angles . I had not noticed them before, as my date had my undivided attention being all nice and chivalrous the entire evening. If I had focused on them, this would be a different review. Not one glance was a smile or nice, so as to not focus on the negative tensions that I began to feel, I moved my attention back to my table to enjoy what I was about to experience. Every bit of the pizza was delicious and I wanted more. I alternated between the soup to keep the flavor Sustained to fully take in the savory sauce and crunchy and soft textures. Pizza that is had tossed or molded is fluffy and the Obed back was at slight crisp. Mmmmmm! I don't eat table salt so this alternating rhythm was very enjoyable. So, yes, the soup needed a bit more basil and oregano and salt. A shake of garlic would have helped it. Next course was our entrées. We had lasagna and grilled chicken Alfredo. I was apprehensive about the Alfredo because the picture looked soupy not thick. I like a thick sauce. My server confirmed without me asking and recommended a different sauce. I was light and buttery. I could really taste the parmesano cheese. It would have been great if it were thick, but it wasn't, so, I took the two thirds left home. My date said the lasagna was good and the ricotta cheese was fresh and the dish was savory. We didn't order dessert, as we were really full after this meal. We asked our server to take our picture by what we thought was a painting, but was actually, a tapestry or fabric! Nice decor! She obliged and all in all we had s good time. read more

In Jackson TN visiting family and tried this place out. We tried it primarily because the menu had a good variety of steaks, seafood and pasta. To be very straight forward it was good but nothing spectacular. My veal parm was very good but the eggplant parm I got as a side was barely warm. Soups were ok--spicy chicken rice, Chianti with beef and mushroom and minestrone. All were hot when they arrived. All in all I wouldn't seek to return. I ordered the Baked Ziti... oh my gosh, it was awesome! Better than I had expected... it had a nice salad with it for starters. As a solo diner, I ate in the bar area. And that was totally fine... full service in there too. I did arrive late, around 9:30pm and closing was at 10pm. But Shelby was a great server, and very friendly. I could not believe that my bottle of Blue Moon beer was only $3.75!! That was awesome... seems like I definitely pay more for that on the West Coast. But the food was also a great value. I have some family local, and this restaurant came highly recommended. Needless to say, their recommendations will be taken with a grain of salt in the future. I ordered the Deluxe Baked Ziti because it looked delectable in the photo. Looks can be deceiving. The top layer, which was similar to a pizza, was okay. But, the ziti was not at all good. The red sauce was watery and bland, and the dish didn't seem baked at all. Service was okay, considering we had 17 in our party. The atmosphere was similar to an Olive Garden. Customer Service and Charm seem to be the two things going for this place. Stopped in on the way to Memphis and found this place to have a lot of both. The food itself seemed average, but not bad. They give you heaping amounts of bread though so you don't go away hungry. The staff is fantastically polite and its unlikely you'd go without a refill should you desire one. Don't stop here if you have any disabilities. My fiance is visually impaired and in a wheelchair. They would not seat us in an area near a window for light. It is 3:30 and not crowded. Ordered online for carry out (of course). Never again!!! Two entrees, one appetizer came to $51 (without the tip) and none of the food was edible. There's no way they would have served the fried mushrooms in house as they were fried to death. We couldn't even tell they were mushrooms. The veal parm & shrimp parm were soggy and stale. The bread which is usually excellent couldn't be cut with a knife because it was probably nuked before being wrapped in foil. The Caesar salad was great but that's kind of hard to mess up. We typically enjoy their food in house but doubt we will ever go again due to this experience. Just terrible so order takeout somewhere else since they obviously don't care about quality. read more

This is a nice roadside find in western Tennessee. I had shrimp scampi and my wife had chicken piccata. Mine came with a tomato bisque that was first-rate. Hers came with a nice salad and creamy italian on the side. The shrimp were plump and delicious and the sauce had the right balance of butteriness and garlickiness. A nice slice of lemon to squeeze over the shrimp added just the right note of acidity. My wife's chicken piccata was breaded and fried. The treatment was a little unorthodox but turned out to be quite tasty. We both had a side of Italian spinach which we both agreed needed a little more zip in the seasoning department but which was not bad. The atmosphere is nice; the restaurant is subdivided in such a way that the noise level is not high, even when the place is really hopping, as it was during our visit. Service is quick and efficient, and we did not have to wait long at all for a table without a reservation on a Friday evening. Overall, this a nice place far from home. Had a big family lunch here with 14 people and two kids. Service was great, but a little slow. I ordered the chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta and the dinner salad with house Italian dressing. The server said the recipe for the house dressing was top secret but it wasn't that great to me... mostly oil with a few seasonings that sunk to the bottom. The chicken parmigiana was awesome! It was a huge piece of perfectly cooked chicken and lots of tomato sauce and cheese. Would order that again! My husband got the chicken florentine. He said it was served cold but thought it had nice flavors. The bread with garlic butter is good like everyone says. The sweetest part was when our nephew busted his mouth falling into a chair, the waiter brought him a plate of vanilla ice cream for free. Too bad he is lactose intolerant.. haha. Very sweet though.
