Lately we have been perusing the swap meet (used) area looking for DVD's and items I can use for DIY projects. On this day I found a small metal candle holder I am planning to spray paint black and put a black candle and some fake cob webs on. I'm not going to pay $15.99 at Target for that! There is always music and usually a live band as there was on this day. The smell of churros and a bell ringing to call you to the agua frescas is part of the experience. If you like shopping at the Dollar Tree you will love the Cherry Auction. If you want to find someone selling hemp and other items made from marijuana plants, this is your place as well. Need bedroom furniture or a humongous cooking skillet for your next get together...this is definitely your place. As we headed out I stopped to price and receive information about homemade pinatas. A family makes them and I believe they are from Selma. The price is right and they are beautiful! I'm going to be needing some for celebrations this fall. Happy shopping!

They also have a chriopractor that adjusts your back thats there everyother Monday which is good. When I went with my back pain I left from there feeling so much better. They have good food and fresh fruit cups and produce to pick from. Many new and used items to look at. There used to be a lot more booths a couple of years back but still a good place to go get distracted for a bit.

We had our personal tour guides (family that lives in town) so it was a simple maneuver throughout the grounds. Our party of 9 arrived on Sunday around noon. It was crowded but with good energy all around. We had fish tacos, oysters, shrimp ceviche, churros, fully baked potatoes, fresca, and other munchies. We also had beers while we were walking around -- super fun and relaxing. There are a variety of vendors selling almost everything you can think of -- from clothing to jewelry to baby accessories. It was really fun to look through each stand. It's $2 per adult at the entrance but totally worth it. Highly recommend if you're in Madera!

The rest of the market has mostly typical stuff you find at a flea market. Don't count on finding much furniture or home goods here though. While your here I recommend trying their chili mango drinks they sell. Sweet, spicy and delicious. Also come early to avoid the heat.

My wife and I were excited peruse the shops and stalls while letting our dog explore. The only shops that were open were Modee and Zander's Coffee. Modee was a cute little shop with plenty of homemade soaps and lotions. This review does not reflect their shop though, I'd give them a 4/5. The woman running the shop seemed to be the sister of the soap/lotion maker, but she was quite friendly! It was unfortunate that there wasn't a comprehensive list of ingredients in their products. Regardless, I bought a 4oz bottle of Goats Milk Honey Lotion for $6. Compared to mainstream companies, this is quite a lot of product for the price, and it works well! I made a separate review for Zander's Coffee, but in short, it was poor quality. Overall we were saddened by the lack of accurate hours but delighted to have found Modee's shop.

Not much going on when we were in Coarsegold yesterday. There was someone in the back with a booth…read moreset up, but we didn't check it out. What caught my eye was the awesome tribute to our American Military Veterans. (Thank you, all, for your service and sacrifices). It's right on the corner...be sure to look for it the next time you're in Coarsegold. Anyway, when the craft fairs are going on here, this place is jamming. We've visited on Memorial Weekend and Labor Day Weekend. Vendors come from all over and I have gotten the coolest stuff throughout the years. Food vendors, too. There IS a good Mexican restaurant there, too! The downfall for this place? There's not much in the way of parking. One year we were parked way up the side road and had to tromp through the weeds. It really is a fun day, though, when you're looking for a holiday weekend adventure.
