Thrift Demon is much more than just a thrift store , I'd call it "Cool-trendy-classic-Demon". I went in specifically looking for a pair of overalls (for an upcoming 90s party) and I found a pair! They had a great selection of clothing and some very adorable vintage kiddos sized things and kiddo sized band T-shirt's. Definitely will be going back.

My $50 did not go far there. Haha. However, it did go far at Valley Veterans Thrift. They are right next to Emerald Thrift Store. They seem small from the outside, but as you walk in, they are extremely big. Not only that, they are very clean and organized. They do have some nice items and i scored a Lee Sands Eel skin purse and little mini bucket bag for only $10 altogether so my $50 budget went far here. They do have Coach, Michael Kors and other items. I saw a Coach Poppy bag (my least favorite style out of coach) for $25, but it was not worth it due to ink stains. I'm on the search for Vintage- not Y2K, but Vintage Vintage Coach bags, but i love all bags. I know when a bag is genuine leather by touch. Definitely a thrift store to check out.

Once a large warehouse operation, the building has been cut up into various spaces for artists of all kinds. And just as the building sits on the fringe, some of the art is on the fringe, too. You can find traditional watercolors and mosaics. You can view fabric artists at work. You can see photography of all stripes. And meet the photographers and hear their stories of various photos. For a long while, Sorensens has been opened to the public only on Art Hop First Thursdays, and that's not too bad during the late spring, summer, early fall months, when it's still pretty light out there next to the railroad tracks, on roads that have no stoplights, among many other large, perhaps abandoned buildings. There is just a frisson of danger. But that has changed. Chris Sorensen has turned the building and grounds over to a new manager who is going to have the place open every week, Thursday through Saturday, daylight hours--10 to 3. Meet the artists, experience their workspace, see their art, and best of all, buy a piece of local artwork. Fresno has a great community of artists. Let's support them.
