Our family used to love Old Time Pottery. I believe they once had a loc in Rockford. I remember the sea of unique kitchen items. Not one, but piles of lazy susans, punch bowls, and serving platters that make us dinners and church fellowship hour hosting champs. None of the items were cookie cutter items that are found in chain stores, and great prices. We waltzed in recently, looking for kitchenware, to find a few isles of very limited stuff. What happened? We're also suckers for seasonal deco, and they usually are stacked to the neck with unique pieces. I have noticed that the stock is lower and the prices are higher. That is kind of a bummer. I still didn't leave empty handed but I didn't bring home a cart full like I used to. Hope Old Time Pottery is going through a phase and will bounce back. read more

This place has gone downhill big time. They don't carry much of anything I remember. It reminds me of a Goodwill store. Most items I saw on shelves were dirty and incomplete (missing parts). I had to ask someone to put toilet paper in bathroom as they were empty. No handicap accessible stall either. Would not recommend or go back. read more

Very big hobby, gift etc. store at a good price hours were good 9am to 9pm ish 7 days a week beats Hobby Lobby never open even in holiday times on a Sunday. We came up to Old Time Pottery with an odd purpose: my mom recalled a few years ago that this place carried the old style of terrycloth beach towels (the ones that are getting usurped by fluffy plush ones in most stores), and we wanted to see if they still had them. Plus, we just wanted to look around. Success! They did have the towels, and a lot of other stuff besides. Now, know that if you're going by their name you will probably be confused, because there isn't a ton of pottery here, and what there was certainly wasn't particularly "old timey." Well, whatever. This place reminds me a lot of Garden Ridge/At Home with a dash of Hobby Lobby thrown in (since there seemed to be some stuff with a religious bent, if you care about that either way). You can find seasonal decor, floral, pictures and framing, wall art of all sorts, furniture, linens, housewares, cleaning supplies, and other stuff too in this huge warehousey building. (Watch the cracks in the floors; I tripped on one.) Would be a particularly good place to visit if your kid is going off to college or someone was moving into an apartment for the first time: you could probably get a lot of your needs covered here in one swoop and at a pretty reasonable price. Overall, I'm just glad to have found my old-style terrycloth beach towels, but I bet we'll come back before the holidays to see what's new at Old Time. read more

Workers are SO RUDE. Extremely bad attitude and were yelling at customers "is there anything else???!" While sighing and glaring, with a bad attitude. Visibly giving dirty looks and glares at us from the lane across. Horrible customer service, and they are not held accountable for how they speak to not just customers, but other human beings. No one deserves to be spoken to the way she was speaking to everyone! I was actually shocked that anyone is able to speak to customers like that in a place of business. This place reminds of hobby lobby without the crafts and all the knick knacks. Tonight was my first visit and stocked up some cute Christmas decor and some gifts for coworkers. I also bought a storage bin for said decorations once Christmas is over. Total spent $14! Winning!!! They have all sorts of decor. If you're in the market some affordable things then stop in. If you park a little too far away the idiot they have trolling the lot will boot your car and charge five hundred dollars to take it off. No negotiating, no breaks. Avoid this location at all costs. This is a wonderful store if you need to decorate on a budget. The quality is B quality and the prices are great! The only downside is there never an employee around, except at the checkout, and sometimes there is only one. The positive is they take Apple Pay. I did however had a somewhat bad experience the last time I was. Upon checking out, I did have the cashier tell me "you know these pillows are 24.99". Now, was she telling me because she thought I couldn't afford them or because she thought I couldn't read? I don't know, but that sort of annoying and rude. This place needs to change their name. I've been in this area MULTIPLE times and never had a thought of going there. I literally thought it was one of those places you do pottery, leave it there and come back to paint it. After reading reviews on Yelp I realized this place would probably be up my alley. First off, customer service is great. They may be overstaffed because I'm guessing they don't get a WHOLE lot of business but everyone was super friendly. It's like a Home Goods but bigger and nicer and neater. They have everything, barely any pottery. Outdoor items, lamps, mirrors, art, bedding, tote bags, cosmetics, on and on. Here's where I'm disappointed, nothing was "on sale." Maybe that's how it's like Home Goods, the prices are already marked down. But since it seemed similar to a Hobby Lobby I was hoping for more sale signs. Don't they know how America works? Jack up the price, put it on sale, throw in a coupon and we will probably buy two. I visited this store on the recommendation of a colleague. I was looking for a ceramic pot for a Dalmatian foxglove but I didn't want to break the bank on cost. This store was gigantic, reminded me of At Home; had that warehouse appearance and feeling. However, they did have a wide selection of ceramic pots at very reasonable prices. Give credit where credit is due, I always say, and in Old Time Pottery I have found a spot that has come to my aid on more than one occasion. Belatedly, I admit to loading my cart with cool and classy Thanksgiving decorations when the need for the multiple presence of turkeys was required. OTP continued on a winning streak with some pretty decent buys at Christmas; especially on a classy looking Alberta pine (marked down for the 4th time). So, once again, I ventured into what seems to be the mecca of all mecca's in terms of décor, housewares, and then some, only to find a couple of decent framed prints for the upstairs bath. The prices are pretty fair and the sales staff is friendly and helpful. If you stop in, prepared to be there awhile; it takes time to traverse the offerings. Recently opened in September 2013. Just a side note about the "location" this store opened up into: Almost nothing survives in this commons, besides McDonald's. This store was previously a Dominick's, then another food store - both of which went under. For about 8 years in between, the store sat vacant. Other nearby stores continue to rotate in and out every few years, none of them surviving long at all - even Subway went under. K-Mart was also here next door and that went under and became Hobby Lobby, which itself is on its way out. Even a bank which had been in the commons over 15 years closed up shop. Let these sets of statistics be a pre-cursor for what the review entails below... With that now being said: Store has a vast selection of lower-end stuff and nicks and knacks, pottery and outdoor supplies, picture frames, household items, etc. The Halloween and Christmas sections are cool if you are looking to stock up on some holiday items. Now I say lower end because the quality on most stuff is just that - not very good. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. A good way to put it as imagine combining a general dollar store with say the likes of IKEA - minus all the furniture. You'd have this type of store. Which in itself isn't all that bad for many people looking for some simple items perhaps to furnish a college dorm or a temporary apartment. For those looking for high-end quality - this store may not be for you - unless you just need some pots for flowers or plants. ** There is a section straight back in the store which has a bunch of tables, some outdoor, some meant for indoor. I was looking for something very basic but when I saw the selection, I noticed a few things: None (out of perhaps 25-30 various tables) were even priced. Not one. I had to flag somebody down, who was nice. She in turn had to flag down some other person, who then gave me prices. The "prices" on these tables were OBVIOUSLY HIGH. Some were between $20 and $45, and many of them had stained wood tops (picture somebody spilling pop on the top), bent or crimped legs, chipped sides of the wood, etc. Again, these are low-end CHEAP tables. I would have bought one for maybe 8-10 dollars, as that is all they are worth, but when I pointed out to the manager 3 separate tables that all had crimped/bent legs and stained or chipped wooden tops, he told me he could only take $2-$3 off. I asked him if they would take $15 for the table, which I thought was more than fair given the condition of it - it was probably worth no more than $15 in tip-top condition. At first I pointed out the top of one of the tables which was clearly stained in some fashion, and he told me he believed that is just the patterns of the wood stain. When I showed him the other 2 tables that didn't have that problem (but these tables had chipped sides and crimped legs), he didn't really have an answer for me. He told me he could not do the $15 and the best he could do was 10% off. I said 'no, thank you. I will find something somewhere else.' He was nice enough, but clearly didn't need the sale that badly I assume. Overall - low quality bordering on CHEAP household items, and prices for those items that were not kosher with the quality you were getting. Wal-Mart, IKEA, or even Menard's would probably have better bang for your buck. Your local Good-Will store would probably carry comparable stuff (for some items) for much cheaper - I kid you not. The few staff members I interacted with WERE NICE enough, but that in itself would probably not warrant me buying anything from this store, unless I need a quick Halloween or Christmas relic or something extremely basic. The 'manager' trying to only knock down 2-3 bucks off of an obviously damaged, cheap-to-begin-with small table won't do the stores any favors either. Decide for yourself. The other reviews which state verbatim "the stuff is great quality for a great price" are wrong, though. All I ask anybody to do is look at the selection of tables in the back of the store and see just how 'great quality' they are - bring your common sense along. read more

BEWARE! NOT TRANSPARENT ABOUT RETURN POLICY!!! Purchased fall decorations marked 50% off. Spent $150+. Took items home. 3 items I took back to exchange for different fall items (this was within 2 hours of my original purchase). I was told that I couldn't return the items because they were clearance. The items were not marked as clearance, they were marked 50% off sale no where was it posted the sale was clearance or final. I was shown a sign by an employee that read 75% off clearance nonrefundable, but it wasn't posted on the 50% off items I purchased. I was then directed to my reciept9 which read clearance items nonrefundable. Again, my items were not marked clearance, they were marked on sale. I talked to the manager who said sale items are clearance & nonrefundable. He refused to even let me exchage items. How was I supposed to know that 50% off sale was clearance? This is a great store. The prices are right, especially for accents, like placemats, throw pillows, outdoor decor, silk flowers. It is organized, so you can walk through an area, like the throw pillows or placemats, and they are in color groupings, not like most of the discount "home stores" I drove to this store as a destination, as I have been to the original stores in Tennessee, and loved them. When I saw the sign "Old Time Pottery" I immediately thought this was...well...a pottery store. Ah no, there is so much more! Basically this is like Hobby Lobby...minus the craft/hobbies section. They have a wide selection of garden decor, home decor, furniture, kitchen supplies, party supplies, and holiday goodies. I wouldn't say it is the "nicest" store (it seems kind of like a warehouse), or that the quality is upscale (by no means). It is comparable in price/quality to an item you would buy at Hobby Lobby or Target. read more

I am disappointed with the Merchandise in this store. I have been there twice and most of it seems cheap or damaged, especially their small furniture items. It is the quality you would typically find in the clearance section of other stores. The only items that seem reasonable and decent quality are their seasonal items and garden related pots, outside decorations, etc. I won't be back to this store anytime soon especially since it it in the same shopping center as Hobby Lobby. read more

I'm really excited about this store. Like many other discount-type home stores it has some good prices and some just ok prices. It has some nice stuff and some cheap stuff. It is similar to a Garden Ridge store. They have everything from kitchenwares, curtains, furniture, holiday decor, books, etc. One of my favorite departments (although small and very hit-or-miss) is the fabric department. Everything is $6 per yard packaged in various size rolls (you have to buy the entire piece and there are no returns). I have scored some nice designer fabrics there. For those crafty/decorative types, it is in the same shopping center as Hobby Lobby, so it is a two-for-one trip. read more

I've been to this store several times because it's very close to my house. They have lots of great decor and reasonably priced. I'm not happy with their customer service at the moment. I went in there yesterday and purchased a few things, one of them being a 16x20 frame for a family picture we recently took. I got home and I anxiously went to put the picture in the frame and while trying to take the backing off a corner of the glass broke. I thought no big deal it was worth a try for the price I'll return it tomorrow. So I have my husband go to return it today and they said they were not going to take it back because we broke it and they can't resell it. Never in my life had that happened to me. Any other store in the world takes back items when things like this happen. Perhaps the quality of the item was just not that great and that's why it broke. So because you can't take a $20 loss let's piss off a loyal customer? Way to go Old Time Pottery thanks for showing me your customers don't mean anything and all it's about is the all mighty dollar. We were visiting relatives in the area and went to the new Old Time Pottery in West Chicago on Neltnor. Great store with all kinds of stuff for the home. Prices were very reasonable and the selection is incredible. Its a huge warehouse type store. Because we had a Dodge truck with us, my sister bought several furniture items for her basement game room, a huge rug for $80, some wooden tables for end tables, for about $40 each, framed art, lamps, and some other things. The furniture they sell is great quality for the price and they have a nice selection of styles, all low priced. They are all set up for Christmas and the variety is huge. So, we will be back when we visit for thanks giving. This is a great store for decorating, esp if you don't want to spend a lot of money but want current styles. Employees were very helpful loading all our stuff in the truck. Convenient location at North Ave and 59, it was a quick drive up from Naperville. Loved it. read more
