I will never drop anything off at this shop again. The owner overprices everything and you have to keep going in there every week/month because she does NOT return phone calls. Too much stuff in the store. She needs to have a gigantic clearance sale (50-75% off EVERYTHING) to get rid of all the junk in there. I dropped off a fur coat two years ago. I asked Tammy if I should fix the belt loop (it was broken) she said "no" and they will price "as is." Tammy said they keep the furs for years....well I received a call from Jan the owner to pick up my fur coat by 7/15 or they will donate. I arrived today and found both of the sleeves coming undone. Jan claims the fur coat was drying out. I had it in store for years and never had any issues. I would NOT recommend dropping off any fur coats here....you may not get it in the same condition like myself. Jan blamed the fur coat...however, fur coats need to be stored at a cooler temp and no humidity which they should tell you upfront when they take your coat!! I am a very dissatisfied customer and most likely won't be going back!! I was shocked...I didn't receive an apology or anything...just "blamed" the coat for being too dry!! read more

A very interesting shop dealing primarily in high end or designer women's fashion. I was surprised by the number of accessories such as sunglasses by famous labels on sale. I am not an expert on what these sort of things normally sell for but the prices seemed rather high- you can be the judge. I moved out of state a few years ago, but Anew is still a must stop every time I come back home. I got both of my prom dresses here that I loved and have found many great pieces in the years since! I've found everything from an amazing lace Free People dress for ~$25, to cute casual tank tops for $8. Both of my prom dresses were only around $80. All of their clothes are in great condition. It's a great place to find cute and affordable pieces while supporting local business and sustainable fashion! Their dressing rooms are a little dark, but they have a large mirror right in front of the dressing rooms with great lighting. They have everything from shoes to formal wear to casual clothes, and I always enjoy visiting their shop! It's slightly off the beaten path from the shops on 3rd street, but it's worth the visit. read more

ANEW was a cute place. My sister is looking for a hairclip for her wedding and we imagined that by some stroke of luck they might have something perfect. They didn't, but that was okay. There was a lot to look at throughout the entire shop. There were some new items and a whole section of dresses on consignment that seemed interesting including what I would consider as First Communion dresses for little girls. The staff wasn't overly friendly (actually, I don't they said anything to us when coming or going) and the prices were a bit high for consignment, so I probably won't go out of my way to head back anytime soon. read more

I have found some good prices but on the whole I agree 100% with the other reviewers that the items are overpriced. In fact, just last week I bought a HYPE bag there for $85 -- obviously used, but I loved it -- and then found the same on overstock.com for less money. So that was a rip-off. The store owner probably feels women who shop in Geneva, IL can afford to be ripped off on used goods. I also wanted to bring bags for consignment but after reading the reviews here, I won't. The website says "call first" to see if they are taking items, but then you can't leave a message! I won't waste my time going there to have someone tell me they won't take them! I walked in looking for a necklace to go with my bridal gown (nothing too impressive in the jewelry department, for my tastes anyway) and left with a short royal purple Jessica McClintock cocktail dress to wear for my rehearsal dinner. Fit perfectly, great condition, and the price was probably half of what it would have cost me otherwise. I saw several other items I wouldn't mind adding to my wardrobe, too! The 5th star is for their dressing room area. It's very . . . homey. I love it, and I fully plan on returning there if I have any money left after my wedding. read more

From the other reviews, I thought this store would be bigger. The racks were full--too full--and the lighting was poor. I'm a small, and I had to crouch down to look at many of the smells. The racks were kind of out of order, sizes were mixed up. That was frustrating The fitting rooms were large, but they were very dark. The owner was friendly when I arrived, and she greeted each customer. I also heard her answer questions from others. The variety of stock was wide--some Kohl's/Target items to some truly high end items. (I picked up a NWT cashmere cardigan that was priced $299.) I tried on. J Crew shirt, spring 2014, and it was $18. Just too much. I found the prices high compared to, say, Savers, where I had found good brands for much less. I would go back to Anew, but it wouldn't be my first thrifting choice. I'm understand it's a consignment shop, so perhaps that's why prices were about 50% higher than Savers. read more

Anew is not my favorite resale place. Sure, I've found some great pieces over the years (A mint-condition Ann Klein sweater dress, a gold Tignanello bag, a 1960's Hawaiian print mini-dress) but their prices can be, well, ridiculous. I've seen shirts from Target and Khols brands selling for more than they were new. As for the staff, they're never particularly friendly or helpful... The owner priced my Valentino heels $106 leaving me with at $53. These 2018 heels costed me $1300. I only decided to sell them because I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and can't walk in heels anymore. I would have been more comfortable bringing them to Goodwill. I feel robbed and sick to my stomach. I was hoping to get $250-300 for what they are worth. I'm so sad, angry and I'm just in complete shock. :( read more

If this review was based on accessories then I would give it 4 stars. So many accessories...some are pricey depending on the designer. They have high end purses, sunglasses, shoes, earrings etc...I can go on forever. I have been here before and I remember last time (around spring) there was more to look at. This time around I was a bit disappointed on the lack of clothing options. Maybe it depends on the seasons? It has a really cute and clean layout...one of the most organized consignment shops I have been too. Boutique is a apt word for this place. Although I've got some very good buys, it's no cheap, but neither is the merchandise. On this last trip, I bought a embellished overcoat for $30, I'm certain I couldn't have afforded it new. I also picked up a pair of very stylish booties which were over $300, which I set back down. The store is larger than it looks, winding around to a fairly large collection of formal ware. There was a rack of furs and a number of Coach purses, none of which interested me but, there you are. There was a lot of high end jeans at about 25 dollars or so. The merchandise is displayed in an upscale way as well; no stuffed rods and shoes scattered under the clothes. These prices are good for the up scale clothes they offer. They may not seem like bargains compared to second hand stores, but savvy fashionistas will recognize the quality. read more

ANEW is much bigger than it appears from outside, and it's absolutely stuffed to the ceiling with clothing and accessories. It has 4 main rooms that have been converted into shopping spaces. The front room is a sort of hodgepodge, the side room mainly dresses, and the back rooms are for more casual wear, shoes, and purses. I've found a few great items at ANEW over the years, but lately it seems like the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. I feel like the newfound "trendiness" of Geneva has changed this shop, and not for the better. The owner is always very nice and friendly, but it's just not worth making the trip to ANEW anymore. read more

I have been to this store numerous times and was always happy with my purchases. HOWEVER, this last time I purchased a Lois Vuitton. When I got home , I realized I just had a few questions to check the authenticity. I wasn't challenging , just had a few questions. I left 3 messages with the sales person working to have the owner give me a call. It's been 4 days, still no call. Very disappointing, unprofessional, and maybe questionable. I bring clothes here to sell and I also have found some great items such as formal dresses and Lululemon pants. The owner is super nice. My only complaint is that o bring items in on the days they say they are taking items but a lot of the time, there's no room for new inventory in their shop. I've only sold $12 total during the past year. I would recommend buying but not the best place to make a lot of money. It's also hard to get a hold of anyone on the phone sometimes. I shop at a lot of fine consignment shops in my travels. Any shop that claims to be high end would never take blemished items. The clothes at ANEW smelled and not all of them were cleaned. The shoes are badly worn for what they were asking for the money. Some of the clothing had holes and most at best came from Kohls brands sold at their stores, which isn't high end AT ALL! And don't let me go off about the designer bags. They were only a few hundred less than new. For the money I'd spend for the new item. The collections are nothing great to speak of. The boots however are nice and you can find 1 or 2 items, if your lucky. As far as the Groupon, as soon as you mention it, they change their attitude and strangely enough they don't accept electronic copies and want you to log into their computer with your account information so they can print the voucher. I had just come from Charming Charlies, where the items are new, stylish, clean and far cheaper than the prices asked here. read more

CONSIGNOR BEWARE!!!! The owner is completely unresponsive via phone (you may not even leave a message, and the additional phone line does not help) and emails are utterly ignored. This is the second time I have had missing consignment items. The first time I let the one item go unchallenged. This time I have had three items go missing. I went to pick them up three days before the contract on them was up and searched hanger by hanger for an hour. The sales associate stated she was also surprised we could not find them and surmised that an employee may have purchased them but could not find that reference folder. She promised to look into it and call me in two days. She never called. I emailed a week later, and a week after that and twice this week (now three weeks of no phone pick up and four emails being ignored). My next (only remaining) resort is to have to make the trip in to see her in person. Ridiculous. She has lost a customer. How can you treat the people who actually provide your inventory with such disrespect?! I am all for supporting local small businesses but this is one I will never patronize again. Further, she is not doing Main Street any favors by leaving a bad taste in the mouths of her customers. That can start to reflect on more than just her own business if people feel cheated and discounted in dealing with her. She's not the only game in town. It would be good if she could remember that. read more

I have had a similar bad experience as L.Y. I brought in a designer item and signed a contract. I was aware that I would need to contact them to find out if it had been sold and to get the money. Since I live out of the country, I had my sister down as the contact person. The sales person told me to email the owner about it as she may let the item sit on the shelf longer than the contract period until it sold. She agreed to this via email and so ultimately there was no "end date". We kept asking when we would need to come in. Everything was unclear. A month or two goes by and we have emailed and called several times to no avail. I finally got in contact with them and they told me it sold (for how much she couldnt tell me- seriously?) and to call back and talk to the owner about receiving the tiny check they will send me. Guess what? I can't get a hold of her. I feel ripped off plus they simply do NOT answer the phone or respond to emails. Perhaps this is their way of keeping items and collecting money? This is not a professional business and I wish I wouldn't have brought my item here. Would definitely not recommend. read more

Prices were far too high on most items, including their designer items. I have concerns about the authenticity of several things that were consigned, including a Gucci purse that was oddly plasticized hanging far in the back. Their Tiffany silver jewelry pieces were both overpriced and had absolutely no supporting paperwork. A quick look on Ebay will show sterling silver Tiffany replicas. I found a Forever 21 sundress they were selling for $31. Used. Their LV's seem authentic but they threw a very bad replica on the counter for comparison. Most people who have owned LV and collect are aware that the replicas can actually look alike nowadays with both the stitching and leather. They seemed annoyed that I was inspecting, which was interesting seeing as I had the original intention of purchasing the purse. read more

Review for current & potential consignors: I've been a purchasing customer of Anew for several years, and this past April I decided to become a consignor. Initially the interaction & relationship with Jan, the owner, was great! I really felt good about bringing my quality clothing & accessories here. That is until I came in to pick up my items after the 60-day consignment period. There were 4 items missing and I could not locate them anywhere in the store. The 1st was a pair of shoes, the owner admitted to donating the day previous, 1 day earlier than the STATED pick-up date on my inventory sheet. Are you kidding me? Then there was a blouse I could not find. No explanation! Next was a shapewear camisole. I originally brought in 2 of them to sell and the inventory sheet I was given to use as reference for picking up items only showed 1 as having been brought in. I questioned Jan and she got VERY defensive and rude with me. She told me she personally enters in all items and if it wasn't on the list then it wasn't brought in. REALLY? And the last item was a necklace and earring set. It was missing when I came to get it. Again, I looked and looked everywhere in the store. And what was really puzzling was I had come in to the shop 1 week prior and I SAW the items for sale. So what happened in 1 week's time? For all the items, except the admitted erroneous donation of my shoes, they were either stolen, not recorded as sold or not inventoried from the beginning. Jan does not like being questioned about anything. She takes it all way too personally and gets very defensive. She claims to have over 2000 consignors. Maybe that's too many to effectively manage? Or maybe she needs to allow her own employees to help her out. Jan won't allow her employees to check-in any merchandise or pay consignors. They're basically cashiers, and that's all. One of her employees told me Jan is a control freak. Yes, it would seem so. Also, I consign my kids' clothing up the street and I have NEVER had any items lost, stolen or otherwise from that shop. One thing they do I think may really help Jan with her business would be to provide her consignors an inventory sheet of checked-in items. The sheet would also show the pick-up date and the dates she plans to mark down items(because, yes, she marks down your items sometimes several times within 60 days and you are unaware of how low the sales price may be.). This would allow consignors the opportunity to pull their items off the floor before they got marked down lower than for what one would like to sell them(remember, you only get 40% of the selling price). Your item may be marked to $5 and you'll only get $2. That may be less than you could get for it at your own garage sale, on ebay, on craigslist, etc... I'm not arguing she has no right to mark down, she lays all this out in her consignor agreement which a potential consignor must sign before consigning. I'm only stating there should be more communication to us consignors so we can make the most informed decisions about our merchandise (Yes,we do still own the items even when they're at her store). I consigned with Jan from April-Sept. I sold approximately 70% of what I brought in . But I shouldn't have "lost" 4 items and I shouldn't have felt bad for wanting to calmly and respectfully discuss the situation with Jan. She was not professional nor respectful with me. and I wonder how many other consignors she has treated the same as I? This is a cautionary tale for anyone thinking of consigning with Jan at Anew or any consignment business. Don't sign away your right to inquire about your merchandise! Lastly, she claims to sell upscale merchandise but you will see items from Target, Kohl's and WalMart to name a few. Yes, you will see $1000 Louis Vuitton bags, but the low quality items are really bad and you would probably pay $1-2 each for them at garage sales, not $10+ at Anew! read more

I had a similar experience to many of the reviews below. I took two dresses in to be sold at Anew. They did not sell and, when I went to pick them up, one of the dresses was missing a critical scarf / shawl that goes over the top of it. I was told the owner would compensate me for this -- I just needed to call her on her only day in, Thursday. But they never answer the phone on Thursday. I have stopped in three times and left messages, and she will not call me back. This has been going on for months. Terribly unprofessional and disappointing. Will not be back. read more
