When I noted the debit, I immediately phoned Kohl's and spoke to their representative who handles fraud. She appeared to be helpful and informed me that the purchase was made for rain boots somewhere in New York. A check of our account does show an order made by someone at the Commack, New York store (991) for rain boots. I was told that it normally takes sixty days to research, however, this appeared to be a clear case of fraud, and we would receive the money back in a short time. It did not happen. I contacted Kohl's several times, to no avail. I then did a little research early May 2024 and found the email addresses for the CEO and one of the other corporate officers. I emailed them and got immediate attention. We finally got a refund over three months after our money was taken. We were told that a mistake was made by a Kohl's employee and they had lost our complaint. It is clear that had I not contacted the CEO, we probably would not have gotten our money returned. There was no apology from Kohl's...no small form of compensation for their error...only a short letter stating our money was refunded. As a result, we no longer use a Kohl's credit card and will refrain from shopping with them in the future.

They said we could reorder online for $102 and if we wanted we could come back again for the price match. Manager Hunter was extremely rude and belligerent about how different Kohls store was from their .com site. Buyer beware.

I've been having a lot of boot ads come up on my social media I think cuz I went out west and looked up "western wear" . So, I was in and the store is beautiful. Filled with well presented and organized things. They have men's and womens clothes and boots and kids too. I'm a bit fussy about the quality of my clothes as I get older I realize , it's quality not quality. They have beautifully made clothing . I checked out some shirts , the fabrics felt heavy duty and durable. I was kind of excited. They had belts and hats and all kinds of western wear. So I go to the back of the store where they have these racks of books set up by gender and size. Nice and neat. A young girl wizzed by me and said high. I started looking and trying to figure out why I would spend money on any of it? Are some more comfortable then others? Do materials matter? Size? Care? So many questions. The girl kept going back and forth and smiled a couple of times but never asked if I wanted or needed help. There was another girl in the hallway opening boxes and the long haired girl was it looked like moving her boots literally one pair of boots at a time. I lingered there 20 minutes or more. Went and looked at belts, beautiful belts. Sturdy well made. What a shame they don't offer to help their customers , cuz I left empty handed . I would have honestly plopped down maybe a few hundred for some boots a belt and maybe a shirt and hat. I guess at 5:30 on a Monday it's all about moving product and not about helping customers at the Boot Barn. You could gather more help on Amazon then here. It's a shame really when people are seeing business close during Covid, maybe they have an endless supply, I hope they do. Again, beautiful things at decent prices , no service. And as I was there, there were two other groups being ignored, a young couple and mother and daughter. The young couple also walked out empty handed. Is that normal service for a store of this type ?

All of a sudden I heard whispers and then I heard "she..." so I looked up and saw two employees very obviously talking about me and staring at me. When I looked up at them they quickly turned away. Although I did not hear what the employee said I could tell they were specifically talking about me because I was the only person in the store. I also noticed throughout my time shopping that these two employees were only complaining about their personal problems. This complaining honestly made the vibe in the store sad and stressful. I also work in retail and I have always been told by my managers to never bring my problems into work for this exact reason. When I checked out my items the cashier almost never spoke to me besides for when she said "you can hit the green button now" I was never was asked how I was doing or if I found everything okay. I'm not sure if she acted this way because she knew I heard her talking about me, or if this is just the standard for Plato's employees. Either way this was shocking especially because I would never act like this at my retail job! This whole interaction made me feel very awkward and honestly has made me not want to come back. On top of that, since plato's closets customers are mainly teenage girls... I hope that this does not happen to any other customers because I can only imagine how damaging this experience could be for a younger more impressionable girl. As a fellow retail worker this was very frustrating and I left honestly feeling humiliated. I wish I could give them 0 stars. (Also I am not the type to leave reviews unless I am truly bothered by something, in fact this is my first ever bad review I've left. I hope the managers of Plato's closet located in Eau Claire WI take my word into consideration when hiring and training their employees.)
