They do beer cocktails yay. We tried a tequila based sangria style one and a beery take on a Moscow mule. Both were really tasty. They have a huge range of draft and craft beers and do bottles with chaser shots a personal fav was the Aussie bundy rum with my beer! Bar snacks are on to keep you going but not full meals yet, though you could always head up to Steak if you're peckish.

Anyhow the OH persuaded me to give it a shot for a quick drink to shelter from the rain whilst we deliberated on a venue for dinner. I'm glad he did. In addition to a decent selection of craft beers, there's a hefty cocktail menu. I tried the Ginger Tom Collins & it hit the spot. Just the right amount of ginger to pack a punch but not enough to be overpowering. The OH had a pint of draft beer & seemed happy enough. The low ceiling means it gets noisy even if it's not packed. There was a stag do, 2 birthday parties and hen group as well as some other folks. It was only just possible to hold a convo at normal volume & be heard. There's a decent sized courtyard out the back too but it was too wet & cold to try it out. I'd definitely visit again but maybe on a week night when it might be a little less noisy.

DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN HELP IT!! If i could give 0 stars I would!! We visited "Klozet"…read moreactually "Kandy" this weekend and were disgusted by the staff and even the customers. The staff serve who they want when they want and will let queues build up so that they can serve, what I assume are their friends, 1st before anyone else. The staff are cheeky to customers and the barstaff don't seem to care about anything but serving themselves drinks 1st, while they sit in the corner getting drunk!! As for there "zero tolerance" policy - well they might want to check the toilets more often because both me and my friend walked into the separate toilets a couple of times to find guys and girls snorting and taking pills which left us feeling quite vulnerable! I can see why the keep changing their name I can only assume its down to all the 1 star reviews they get. This place is a dive, if you want somewhere gay friendly in Dundee try Rewind or Pout instead, give Klozet/Kandy a definate swerve!!

While it happened, another of our friends called over a bouncer and they came over but my friend was rushed out as she was crying and in pain and in no state to talk to anyone. When I spoke to manager, he said there was nothing he could do unless she was here to identify the assaulter. So we came back not even half an hour after the incident occurred , but because she could not see her in the bar, we were told to come back the next day to look at CCTV. We did this (my friend now sporting bruises on her face) and were told that we should have dealt with it last night and there was nothing they could do as the CCTV wouldn't identify her. However, bouncers as well as a bar staff member admitted to seeing her but somehow they couldn't identify her? We understand this is a tricky situation, honestly didn't think they'd be able to do much, but we were treated awfully and the managers were rude and condescending and didn't apologise once and contradicted themselves in their advice to us last night and this morning. They even accused my friend of fighting back which she was in state to do as it wasn't a fight, it was 4 people punching her. The manager explained that they had a zero tolerance policy in the same sentence as saying they wouldn't do anything about it. This is meant to be a zero tolerance and safe space for people to go and instead my friend was the victim of a hate crime that a gay bar has let slide. Wouldn't reccomend going.

Dundee University Student Union is pretty much the go to place in Dundee for Students looking for a…read morenight out, its location centered in the middle of the Dundee University district is ideal for the students who live on campus and it couldn't get closer to Perth Road and all the pubs that come along with it. With 5 floors it's a pretty versatile place. The bottom floor known as Mono is the most popular of the 5, playing mostly chart pop music and dance, whilst not being to everyone's taste it's usually where most people end up by the end of the night. The third floor is home to the "liar" bar (named after the Stephen Fry novel of the same name due to his time as rector of the university) which is mainly the area that people tend to pre drink in before heading either up or downstairs later on in the night as it is a comfortable environment to have a drink in due to comfy couches, the liar bar also has plenty of screens to watch sports on. One floor up there are pool tables and the air bar which has karaoke regularly and serves cocktails. On the very top floor sits the aptly named floor 5, which is usually the alternative to mono by the end of the night, it has a dimly lit feel to it and usually plays music that wouldn't normally be played downstairs (hosting genres inducing specialised electronica all the way to the now sadly defunct rock and metal night). In terms of a cheap night most students usually go to what is (in)famously known as "Skint" on a Tuesday night where entry is a pound and (selected) drinks are usually the same price. Weekends tend to be a bit dearer in terms of entry at the door and drink prices are usually a bit more expensive too (but nothing wallet stretching). The only real negatives about the place are that as it is a student union the busyness of the place really depends on when the students are about, exam times etc, the place can be absolutely dead during summer and during exam time and almost too crammed to enjoy at the start of each term. That and the selection of alternative nights on floor 5 is dwindling to the point that all that is really left is an indie night and a cheesy pop night which seems to play the same playlist every weekend.
