When I was organising the Yelp Pool Tournament (great fun, you should go to the next one!), Q Club was the first place that came to mind, more for the fact that this was the only place that I could think of that did pool and wasn't overly shady. Having spent some time here I'm more than happy with my choice, and think that it's a great place to play some pool or snooker.
Membership is pretty cheap at £15 for the year. There are 2 main rooms, a snooker room with about a dozen tables, and around the same number of British pool tables in the main room. There is also a private American Pool room as well, but this wasn't the cheapest to hire. Games on the pool tables are 50p a whip, and on the whole they are pretty good in terms of quality: everything seemed to run pretty straight, and there was only one cushion on the three tables we were using that had a weird bounce. There are loads of cues, and the tables are far enough apart that you aren't bumping into the folk in the other table.
We were there when it was quiet and when it was busy (it seems that this is a pre-game stop for away fans for Firhill) and at both times it wasn't a problem to have fun. The drinks prices are cheap, although you aren't getting anything fancy for that. There are also a few screens showing the football, so it's a good way to get the game in and feel like you're doing something else. The staff were also really nice, and were pretty helpful when I was looking to book everything.
I can definitely see me using this membership a lot more than I initially thought, and I think a few folk at the tournament were considering getting one themselves. Definitely a great place to spend a few hours. read more
