The chips and salsa that they give you before your meal were pretty good. Chips were crunchy and fresh and the salsa came in a carafe and was pretty tasty. I ordered the carne asada (grilled skirt steak) and asked for No Beans, just extra rice (because I hate beans) but the server I guess didn't pay attention to my request, or maybe the kitchen didn't pay attention to the server's instructions. Who knows? She was nice and did check back to make sure I had everything I needed. I didn't send the meal back nor did I complain because I was starving. When you're pregnant, you get really Hangry but I was too tired to get mad. The steak's edges were burnt so there were some bites I got that were bitter. It also had a faint fishy taste to it so I'm wondering whether they grill the steak on the same spot as their seafood. It was a bit bland so it probably could have used a few more hours of sitting in marinade. Again, I didn't complain because the tiny human I am growing is demanding that I eat ASAP. The size of the pick de gallo and guacamole was a bit skimpy. Don't be fooled by my photo. It's all lettuce under that guacamole/pick de gallo serving. The rice that came with the dish was delicious and the corn tortilla they served with the dish was a bit soggy from sitting inside the foil wrapper so they ripped easily when I put the steak and fixings on them. Maybe it was an off night for them so I'll probably give them another shot in the future. The food was just OK in my book and I definitely have had better Mexican fare (Mostly from California). Waited in line for 20 minutes only to have staff keep letting people cut in line in front of me to be seated. I called six times hoping to place a pick up order but the phone just rings and rings. I loved the sides that came with it but was saddened that my request for half flour and half corn wasn't fulfilled. Also, the menu on their website may have wrong pricing - again we ordered "Parilla for two "25.99" and paid $34.55. Maybe there was a pick up covid charge? I couldn't check when paying since I only received the credit card bill. No biggie but worth mentioning just in case someone else encounters the same. We were torn what we wanted for dinner but after a long day of travel we decided to walk over to this place since it was right next door to our hotel. The food was great. The salsa needed to be a little more spicy. The margaritas however are AMAZING! The service is outstanding!!! The food was pretty good but a tad bit salty. The portions were large which is good for the money. I had a surf and turf meal which I had a chance to tase steak,chicken, shrimp and chorizo. I hated the chorizo. At first I did not know what exactly it was. It did not look appetizing at all but I still tried it to be fair. Not worth it. But the rice and beans was really good and the salad that came with it was tasty. It doesn't hurt to try it. My boyfriend had a quesadilla and said it was very delicious and we like the same things. We come here like every couple week, never had a problem before. Tonight's waitress was the owner, we sat down and never got our chips and salsa like usual. We ordered, food came, we were never asked how was everything or even got drinks refill. Then we noticed that a party came to the next table and they did have the chips ready for them and bring them a better service. Very disappointing. Food was good, we wish service was also good. The quesadilla seems to have been made with American cheese though, which I haven't really eaten since I was a kid so was not mentally prepared for. Service was meh, and the place wasn't busy. The server bypasses us 4 times or so after we were seated so we didn't get drinks for awhile. Then it took while to take our order, despite us choosing quickly. Always a scowl and not a single courteous word or gesture the entire time. I assume it was just a bad day, but please don't take it out on us. It also seemed to close up early. Provided we were going on a Sunday, but 9pm? Maybe that's normal for that area. I don't know. read more

This is our favorite place to get Mexican food in Ithaca. Admittedly that's not setting the bar super high, but the food is always great, and there are a ton of things on the menu to choose from that we've really enjoyed. The one drawback is that we've encountered a few times that the service is very slow. Sometimes the restaurant is really slammed, in which case it's perfectly understandable, but there have definitely been a few times we've come by (and as always, really enjoyed our burritos) and been left hanging with empty drinks or waiting on the check for a long time. In town on business, recommended by the hotel . Food was ok , not great , had fajitas and they were ok , beans and rice cold ! Service was ok at beginning, got put in the bar section , all ok till new trainee came in and bartender had to train her , then service got sporadic at best! What was really upsetting however was the bill ! I ordered the jumbo Margarita, clearly marked as $ 8.00 , then the bill said $11.99 ?? When I questioned it he said he made it fresh??? I told him that doesn't matter it doesn't say on the menu if you get it fresh it's $4.00 more !! What kind of scam is that?? I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars because I ordered a margarita and expected it to be $2.99 as it was happy hour (and I inquired about the happy hour to my waitress), but was charged $7 because the margarita was "fresh". This is absolutely ridiculous. They need to be much more clear that there is a price difference between fresh margaritas and whatever other kind of margarita they are serving. Especially if I had originally asked about happy hour prices. Lots of food - average quality. Went here with a group of people on a visit to Ithaca. Big place - easy to get seated. Food portions are very big - out of 12 of us; I think only 1 person finished (although many of us pigged out on the chips/salsa beforehand). Quality was so-so. I had the diablo burrito - wasn't all that spicy (supposed to be); food taste was more "chain style" than authentic. The margaritas were tasty; but lower on alcohol than most. We had an amazing experience going to Old Mexico. The wait staff are extremely pleasant and the food was delicious! I ordered the chimichanga and my partner ordered the burrito santa fe. Both were delicious and fresh. To top it off, we were given a side of warm tortilla chips with salsa. For dessert we ordered the churros, also a great choice!
