Badly needed to make a pitstop and we saw this market and fuel station and pulled over in hopes that there would be a public bathroom available. My husband went in to inquire about it and the associate pointed him to the porta potty in the parking lot. I wasn't thrilled about this but had no other options. As my daughter and I were crossing the lot, the associate noticed us and waved us in, saying that the porta potty is only for men and that women could use the actual bathroom located inside, which was good for us. It wasn't the cleanest facility but it was much better than the porta potty that had sh*t smeared on the seat, blech. They have so much stuff inside this market, the aisles are cramped with you trying to walk through because the shelves are so stocked. Stopped in to order 1 pound of tritip. Manny weighed it and the amount was $10 more than the per pound price he'd quoted. I asked why? He shrugged and said "it is more than the 1 pound. I asked him to provide 1 pound as ordered. He had some tri tip removed and then charged me $2 above that initial per pound amount. I asked why? He responded "deli fee". Huh? Way to lose a customer. Keep your tri tip or include your extra fee(s) in the price. read more

It's just my personal opinion but it overall as a store is depressing. Their isn't a good vibe at all and the food is pretty expensive. The employees are overall rude and everytime I leave I feel heavily judged. When I got a burrito there I saw short black hairs all over it. In one section of the store with all the toys and household items, it just a big mess. Most things are thrown on the floor and I have never seen a time where it has been picked up. Overall, it isnt an amazing store that I enjoy going too. Love the M&M though. read more

I really appreciate both this market and Marshall's across the street. It's not easy being the only gas and groceries provider in our small but vocal community. The owners (of both stores now) are gracious, eager to help out and open to suggestions. The standout item in the Firehouse Market is the freezer by the door filled with Marriani's custom ice cream. Thanksgiving's Pumpkin was excellent, and now there's a lovely creamy Eggnog. The Spumoni is so refreshing, while the Chocolate Mandarin is beautifully indulgent. I'm so pleased to see new owners at this place. They really add personality to this place. I only get through here once in a blue moon when traveling , but it's a convenient stop when I need to fill the tank. And it's great to see good food when I'm getting gas because I can kill two birds with one stone this way. Get gas and get good food. Their Mexican food is great anyway. I don't shop here often and usually it's just gas. The old reviews were for the old owners. Harry and his wife took over ownership a year or so ago. They are working hard to make this a local store again unlike the last owner. Since I work in town my shopping is usually done there. Gas though is a different story sometimes I just get home and realize I need some. Old Firehouse prices are reasonable and I have no problem buying gas here. I can't talk about the price of food. If I don't have an ingredient I just buy what I need. One day I'll decide I don't want to cook and I'll try their hot food. DON'T GO BY THE REVIEWS THAT ARE EARLIER THAN THIS! wondered why my last review is nowhere to be seen...stopped in there today only to have the owner totally mess up my order after I had already gotten it straight with the cook. the owners of this place are rude, arrogant and they cheat people by over-charging. They also refuse to pass along the $1 discount on cigarettes by removing the coupon wrappers from the packaging. I grew up in Aromas and used to be a regular at this place. Lived and shopped there for around 20+ years. I would stop here after work every single day practically and pick up some alcohol but they always pretended like they had no clue who I was. Always wanted my ID regardless and would talk down to me. 4+ months of that and ok, I'll stop somewhere else on my way home. I literally won't stop here for gas unless my car is running on fumes. I see the car at the empty line and think "I bet I could make it to Gilroy. AAA can bring me gas/tow if don't make it" They will add on charges to your bill and many other shady practices that: I see many of the people that used to pickup lotto tickets, beer, etc. in PRUNEDALE because no one wants to put up with their BS. I see their "buy local gas to keep prices low" and know better. Gas is literally always cheaper at the Monterey Exit in Gilroy, by Supermax in Prunedale, several places in Watsonville, etc. No reason to let them be rude to you. Shop somewhere else! For YEARS, we bought tritip every Friday, etc. but the new owners are horrible. Everyone I know refuses to shop there. Lost who knows how much business from more than 50 people that I know. Small town and we talk about it off Yelp. Wish they would just leave town. I'll go to Marshalls if I need something. read more

Buyer beware. I've been here about 6 times. It's convenient being only 5 minutes away from my home. In a pinch, you can get gas, not knowing the quality, but haven't had any problems with it. Prices are generally high because of this convenience. They sell a lot of items and home made foods. Again, they know they are the only store in town with many items and over charge because of this. There is a smaller store across the street without the variety. Why the 1 star? Yesterday I went in for beer and frozen pizza. (I haven't trusted them enough to try those foods kept warm under a light bulbs.) I noticed a different cashier. An older guy wearing gold framed fancy glasses. I saw the normal guy I deal with sitting back a bit. This older guy didn't scan my items and came up with 41 dollars. I looked at him and said "really?" He pulled those numbers right out of his butt. He didn't think twice about ripping me off even more. Then had the nerve to say "Next time call us and we'll make you a better pizza than that one." Oh hell no. I wanted what I wanted. I really didn't feel like driving to Gilroy, Watsonville or Salinas for these 2 things and just took it as an experience in my own laziness. What's funny about this story is, as I was waiting my turn the guy in front of me was only buying lottery tickets. Mr. Fancy glasses rip off man was telling this customer what he should do with the money if he wins. The customer said "How do you know I won't donate it to charity?" I love this place. I live in Aromas and if I need a few items I always go here. The prices are slightly higher but that is to be expected as a small store. The owner who has always been pleasant and fair with me tries to carry a wide variety of things so that I don't have to drive all the way to Watsonville. He also passes on good deals when he gets them. I am very thankful that they are here in Aromas. I wanted to help support them so I started buying my gas here. The prices are often less than the cheapest in Watsonville. Sometimes there is a delay in the price change so I just keep my eye out. Plus you can get gas 24 hours which is a lifesaver!! Really nice people. Market is dark and uninviting and I wouldn't buy produce there, but I like their prepared foods.

This place is fine when the younger employees are working, but go in when the older employees are working and prices go up and magically the price scanner doesnt work. They need to keep better controll over expired products as well...I cant say how many times ive bought expired food from this place. I'm updating my review to add the best pizza you will ever have in Aromas. Even if you have it delivered from Tim-Buck-Two.....you won't beat this pizza. It is fantastic to say the least and there isn't anything but praise for the way they make them. You can go in after 11 AM daily and buy it by the slice or call ahead and order a whole one to take home. Fridays is still Bar-B-Q day, but the rest of the week is pizza heaven. Now this isn't to say I don't eat the Bar-B-Q on Fridays anymore....that's my favorite day of the week, but pizza is for everyday and it is the best I have ever had...and I'm 70 plus years young and have eaten my fair share of pizza. As a local, I wouldn't send you to any place but the best. Pizza and Bar-B-Q......its like living in heaven here in Aromas, Ca.
