My husband, myself and another couple stayed here as a last minute Labor Day Weekend trip. We are not the type of people to stay in our hotel rooms during much of the trip. Everything provided at Old Field House was sufficient. This is a family run hotel and it truly gives off a charming vibe. Things were a little outdated but that add to the charm. Our 2 queen bed room was decent in size, private bathroom, tube television, DVD player and arm chair. We were supplied with plenty of bath towels. Breakfast provided was quick and tasty, now served due to covid. Everything was sanitized frequently. Nana, the most amazing layed back hotel mascot pooch helped sooth my sorrow of missing my own pupper back home. Could the stay have been a little less expensive? Definitely. Did I choose to stay at a tourist town on a holiday weekend? Yes. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Old Field House while on a short adventure through the White Mountains. First of all, I cannot stress enough how kind, helpful, warm, and hospitable the owners are. True salt-of-the-earth people who clearly care deeply about their guests' experiences. Unfortunately, that care doesn't translate to the facility itself. The first thing we saw when we pulled into the parking lot was a rusty truck with 3 flat tires that had clearly been there a very long time. We then headed into the front desk and, despite the warm welcome, we were mortified by the condition of the office and front desk area. It was packed with paper, boxes, books to the extent that piles were falling down. We rented a room with two queen sized beds for one night. The room was a good size, but smelled musty and dank. Everything seemed clean, appearance-wise though. The room was furnished with two very old queen sized beds with saggy mattresses and faded, ripped quilts, two old, worn and stained armchairs, a tube television that would not turn on, and an air conditioner that did not seem to cool the room down at all (it was 80 outside and we were on the second floor). We were disappointed by the thin, small, and worn towels (only one towel each was provided) and inadequate WiFi (we kept getting booted and it wasn't nearly strong enough for streaming). But by far, the most alarming thing, in a geographic area with little cell service, and a hotel with unreliable WiFi, was the lack of telephone in the room. This is a true safety concern. If one of us had had an emergency in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have been able to call 9-1-1. In summary, these are truly kind, sweet people who are hanging onto a run-down hotel that is clearly in desperate need of some epic deferred maintenance. That said, despite it all, if they dropped the price $50 a night and put a telephone in the room, I would stay again. (PS., we didn't have the complimentary breakfast but it looked and smelled amazing when we dropped in to check out the next morning.) read more

The Old Field House is the classic New England Inn. Nestled in the White Mountains, this family-owned business is a good choice for a vacation. The Inn is close to Mount Cranmore and Attitash if you're a skier, and has a beautiful cross-country ski/snowshoe trail right on the property. Owners Linea and Rod Hopwood are personable, and make every effort to make your stay enjoyable. They cook fresh Belgian waffles in their beautiful little dining room every morning, allow guests to borrow DVDs from a library behind the desk free of charge, and they even have a few pairs of snowshoes you can borrow for the afternoon. The room I stayed in was sufficient. It was clean and bright. But the bed was kind of uncomfortable, there were not enough blankets, and the pillows weren't the fluffiest. Other than those little things, though, this place is great. The family Malamute, Teddy Bear, is a constant fixture at the Inn, and she loves a good scratch behind the ears as you pass her by. All in all, this place is like a home away from home, and I'm looking forward to making my stay there a yearly tradition. read more

Old Field House - Hotels Near Me - Intervale, New Hampshire

I've seen my share of good and bad hospitality...and I would have to put this place on the top end of the chart. (Bottom of the chart would be most places in Quebec City. As far as not bending over backwards for the Non-French speaking Americans and/or tourists goes). Owners/Front Desk seem(s) to always be on hand and can provide any resources needed for the area (including restaurant reservations and "only known to locals" traffic-free short cuts). Their courtesy and helpfulness is no less than sincere. Rooms are fairly sized, priced, functional and clean. Mattresses are on the very firm side. There's a compact fridge and DVD player in each room. Lots of DVDs to choose from in the hallway, also. There's a quite friendly and calm Alaskan Malamute named Teddy that's usually nearby and willing to accept everyone's pats on the head. There's an ice machine, washer/dryer, game room, den area and soda machine downstairs from the lobby. The breakfast is more than a continental one. The made to order "New Hampshire" waffles are key. Don't pass them up. There's also hard boiled eggs, sausages, OJ, decaf and more provided. I would definately stay here again, in any season, if they'd have me. Head's up though, your GPS will offer little help with the last couple of turns so pay heed to their website's written directions. read more

This was one the best places my husband and I have stayed at. If you want a relaxing, feel like you at home, and the outdoor feel this the place for you. The minute we walked in my husband and felt like we were part of Linea and Rod's family. They were very helpful with giving us tips and ideas of where to eat but also the best places to visit. At night time they had a fire pit going and toasting marshmallows. They also have a heated pool and hot tub. Every morning Rod made the most delicious waffles. Every day when we left to go out to explore they always said to us 'Have a great day' and when we came back they asked 'How was your day?' My husband and I were sad about leaving. My husband and I stayed at the Old Field House recently for our second wedding anniversary. We had intended to stay one month prior around our actual anniversary, but when my husband came down with stomach flu the day before, we had to cancel our reservation. Linnea (one of the owners) was very accommodating and made it easy for us to reschedule not once but twice when we realized we couldn't get a babysitter for our original rain date. Once we finally got there, we were surprised by how perfect our king size jacuzzi suite was--spacious, clean and modern looking, with a skylight, and easy-to-operate gas fireplace and a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi that to my surprise actually did fit both of us comfortably. We loved how warm and friendly the owners were the next morning at breakfast--and the chocolate-chip banana waffle was AMAZING. This is a family-run establishment, and you're treated that way--that is, kindly and casually. We had to ring the pager a few times upon check-in to get someone's attention, but that's only because they were hanging out with the kids in the rec room downstairs, and it was easy enough to track them down. They gladly supplied us with wine glasses and a corkscrew later that evening when we realized we'd forgotten them, and we enjoyed chatting over breakfast about our kids/grandkids, who were just a few days apart in age. The Old Field House is in a great location, on the resort loop with a bunch of other nice-looking hotels and inns, and just down the road from the lovely little town of North Conway, where we did some shopping and enjoyed a wine tasting. We highly recommend this area for a fun family or couple's weekend, and the Old Field House as a great, inexpensive place to stay. read more

My husband and I visit the Conway area 3-4 times a year and the Old Field House has been our go to place for years now. We always stay in one of the fireplace jacuzzi suites at The Farm behind the main inn building. I can't speak for the rooms in the main inn. The Field House is centrally located to all the attractions in the Mount Washington Valley. Since it is on route 16a in Intervale, you don't have to deal with the North Conway traffic every time you leave. This is a huge bonus, especially during peak times of the year. If you are looking for a slick, contemporary place, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a warm, inviting New England inn with unmatched hospitality, you've found the right place. While the rooms aren't modern, they are clean and well-kept. The owners spend time each Spring making small updates to the rooms as necessary. My husband and I stay in the same suite each time and have noticed a new carpet one year, the bathroom repaired the next, new mattress another visit, you get the idea. I think the past visit the mini fridge had been replaced with a new one. Rod and Linea will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. You want restaurant suggestions? They've got them and will make a reservation for you if necessary. Are you going up the Mt. Washington Auto Road? Linea has discount coupons for you. Looking for sneakers at the outlets? Linea will tell you who has the best deals that week. Getting stuck in traffic? They can tell you the shortcuts. If you need something and they don't have it or if the aren't sure about something, they will point you in the right direction to get what you need. I've heard guests ask about dry cleaners, tire stores, etc. before and they always have a quick answer. The main inn is a very short walk from the suite where we stay. Breakfast is served every morning and is included with most rooms. We are not talking instant coffee and Hostess donuts here. You get a buffet that includes cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bagels, and pastries and bread from a local bakery. If that's not enough, Rod makes Belgium waffles to order. Not just plain either, he also makes banana, chocolate chip and blueberry! The main inn has a few common areas including a game room and a TV room where they show movies for the kids every night. There is also a year-round heated pool and hot tub. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay, I can't recommend the Old Field House enough. read more

We stayed here in the king jacuzzi suite this past weekend. Great little intimate room. Being over 6 feet tall the tub was a bit small for me but other than that the room was perfect. The heated year round pool and hot tub were cozy. The buffet breakfast was perfect. The owner makes custom belgian waffles , scrambled eggs , sausage, cereal bagels and toast. The owners truly love what they do and it shows. When we checked out we were given warm hugs like we were family. I will stay here many more times in the future. read more

Wonderful. I am here by myself with my three kids and we feel right at home. Traveling with them is not easy and I try to choose carefully. I will definitely come back. The innkeepers make it special. They are kind and have given us great ideas of things to do and their recommendations have been spot on. The rooms are fine. They are dated (which is a plus) and clean. It feels more like a home than a business. There is a game room and plenty of toys and games. It's a great place to reconnect with family. I feel like I've stepped back into my childhood. My kids love it. The breakfast was great. There's a very friendly atmosphere and I felt very comfortable. The grounds have some trails, hammocks, jacuzzi and a pool. They also have plenty of sports equipment and a big green space to play. I highly recommend this inn for the experience. read more

First time here this past weekend (02/22/13) and I will never stay anywhere else in North Conway :) My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend. We got the Queen Jacuzzi/Fireplace Suite, 11B. I wish we could have stayed for a week. It was one large, very clean, very pretty room with a nice fireplace and a queen sized bed. TV of course, DVD player and a small refrigerator that came in handy for drinks (and leftover pizza lol). The bed was not very comfortable, as the mattress needs to be replaced. Other than that I have not one single complaint. The suite was private, no one above us or below us, and not like a hotel with people walking up and down the hallway. It was a townhouse, so we had immediate access to the outside, and we lucked out that it snowed most of the weekend, I kept going outside to look at the pretty snow, take pictures and marvel at just how QUIET it was. The bathroom is very large, I wish I had this at home! LOL Again really clean, double sinks, plenty of room for both of us to get ready at the same time. Toilet & shower are in a small room off the bathroom with a separate door for privacy. Linea and Rod - the innkeepers - so gracious and friendly. Breakfast was included in our rate, we went up to the main inn for that and it was way better than I expected. Scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, lots of fancy breads for toasting, blueberry & coffee cake, fruit, juices and coffee ......and Rod makes Belgium waffles to order. Everything was fresh and yummy and very much appreciated! There is quite a selection of DVD's in the main inn that you can take back to your room. Lots of nice areas for sitting and relaxing. Stayed here while visiting Story Land with my wife and children. First let it be known that the inn owners are very nice people however, our room smelled of URINE, there were PLUMBING LEAKS and the smell of MOLD throughout HALLWAY and ROOM. While using the swimming pool my children alerted me to an ELECTRIC CHOP SAW with a RUSTY BLADE in the OPEN position exposing the blade. Their was a GARDEN HOSE left strewn down a walkway creating a dangerous TRIPPING HAZARD as well as an OVERFLOWING TRASH CAN which were both left untouched for the 4 day duration of our stay. If you have no SENSE OF SMELL or VISION and are up to date on all TETANUS shots please disregard my review! read more

The BEST!! All of the above reviews are true about great breakfast, sweet sweet dog, etc. Linea and Rod have become friends and have watched our children grow up every year. The youngest has been coming since she was 6 weeks old. They are always accomodating--when we come in late, the kids are fussy, different movie suggestions, extra snacks, etc. The assisting staff are the best too. We would not go anywhere else for any event in the White Mountains. It's nice that they are so close to StoryLand, Mount Washington, Kangamungus (sp?) pass, etc. Great fun in the fall-foliage and the pumpkin people festvial--Linea always tops her previous year with her special pumpkin people. Stayed in the owners suite in the main building. Had a wonderful time. Very clean, and comfortable suite. Had a warm comfortable country feel and decor. The two person jacuzzi tub, and the fireplace all made for a soothing, warm new years eve. Had an excellent breakfast, with some awesome waffles in the morning. Will be back again!! read more

HEY!!! Now that I have your attention, I can't believe I can have a huge room with a hot tub , king bed, fireplace, screened in porch, private entrance , huge breakfast w eggs, fresh waffles, sausage, cereal, juice, oatmeal,coffee and more plus an indoor pool, fire pit , outdoor hot tub and very friendly owners that also has a game room, large theatre to watch your movie of choice and it's cheap for ski country . It's unthinkable! It's between Attitash and Cranmore. This place is a diamond . Great for romantic to family get away . Like being at home. Not a tourist feel, very comfortable . If you want a sterile city feel if a hotel chain or high speed internet and a valet then for God sake go to Boston . This is the white Mountains of New England. I want a fireplace and comfort food for breakfast . I wanted to wear sweatpants to breakfast and not feel out of place. It felt like my grandparents house. I slept like a new born . This place needs to be tried once. I'll never stay at a chain hotel again. I booked again as I checked out. I can't wait to go back. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Old Field House for 10 days, and it was amazing! It was like staying with friends, not to mention the great breakfast they served (included in the reasonable room rate). How does this sound-Banana, Chocolate Chip or plain Belgian Waffles (And when we went hiking and brought back blueberries, yep, we had blueberry waffles). Real comfortable and clean, and charming! I agree with everything other people said. The rooms are not modern but are quaint and comfortable. The innkeepers couldn't be more hospitable. They catered to our every need and and we're so friendly to everyone in our group. We stayed in the family suites I the basement so had easy access to the great and kid-friendly living room, game room and movie theatre with nice flat screen TVs everywhere. The breakfast is fantastic and served in their lovely atrium room overlooking the pretty yard and jacuzzi/ pool area. This inn is a great value for the price. We fell in love with teddy bear the dog!!! We will definitely go back soon! read more
