But our experience from the beginning to end was extraordinary. And in the beginning, we also called him like 100 times because we kept getting lost but he was patient and directed us back. Gave us advice to pick up snacks for the calm parts of the river - which we were thankful for 2 hours in to the 3 hour rental. Gave us safety guidelines that were also worth knowing about the river- we definitely would of panicked as there are several bends and just keep in mind the first 3 bridges come fast and then the last two take quite some time as we did sign up for the 6 hour tour. Their site and cabins are comfortable, clean, and cozy. It's such a treat to have delicious breakfasts and dinners al fresco, under a canopy of tall trees. There are a variety of options for ingredients for your sandwiches on the river and delicious, homemade salsa. Michael and Wanda are great hosts making sure you have everything you need. The rafting equipment is well maintained. Our evenings were topped off sitting around a campfire. Anyone would be fortunate to spend time a couple of days with Redwoods and Rivers.

Our group was age 10 - 64 and everyone survived :-) *** request Chris *** I guess I didn't realize how potentially dangerous it was until a couple of our teenagers fell out of the raft during a rapid.... But they were ok... Only bruises and some scrapes. They would do it all over again.... Falls and all. We went on a Class III tour which included Class I - III rapids. It's sort of "medium adventurous". If you have a lot of younger or older people in your group, you are probably good sticking with a Class I - II tour. But you will be safe during a Class III if you tell your guide that you can't swim, don't want to be thrown from the raft, etc. TIPS: DRINK A LOT OF WATER, show up early, expect to be exhausted the next day, expect to do a little hiking / climbing during lunch, Bring sunscreen, get one of those things that help your sunglasses stay around your neck because you will lose them, wear a visor or a cap under your helmet, bring cash to tip your guide because they do a hell of a job and they only make $100/day. IT'S A LOT OF FUN and the owners are really nice people.

Friendly and competent staff, boats that fit our needs well (can carry 10 people and pull riders on tubes, skis, wakeboards, etc.), etc. Ever since Eric and Shannon took over the operation, service has been great. This year we unfortunately damaged the boat (entirely our fault), and the marina handled the situation professionally and was I think very fair and reasonable in the amount that it charged us to cover the necessary repairs. As long as they'll have us back, we'll keep renting from TLM.

I came across The Reel Thing July 27, 2016. My cousin and I had just pulled the boat up into the shade so we could start prepping it for the week ahead of fishing. Shortly after we began our setup a gentleman came down the hill in a golf cart. He circled around the boat and asked, "Are you guys going to be here long?" We replied with a friendly no. The next thing you know this gentleman introduced himself as Bob and began telling us about the fish. Bob gave my cousin and I so much detailed information our brains almost exploded. Bob then let it be known he is a guide on Shasta and has many years on Shasta and other lakes. Bob's friendly demeanor and willingness to provide so much information to non paying people was so amazing. He was not trying to sell us a guided trip. He didn't tell us to get off his lake. So if you want to avoid slathering sunscreen on, the best bet is lightweight, light colored clothes that have some kind of built in SPF. Our fishing guide, who deserves his own non-5 star review (unless you count amount of marijuana smoked while supposedly working), recommended this place as I was suffering a bit from heat. From the outside, the shop doesn't look like much, but inside - wow. This small and neat shopped is like a fly fishing paradise. As I'm not a fly fisher and also not really knowledgeable about fishing, it was overwhelming. But cool to look around and see all the crazy things people use. Anyway, they had the sun shirt that I was looking for, and I found a nice hat. So overall, cool spot to visit, and great if you're into fly fishing. Parking is easy and they take credit cards too.
