Nice friendly workers upon entrance with a clean welcoming ambiance. Everyone is approachable and willing to answer questions. Samples are readily available. Prices are a little higher than other stores we've been to in NM. We've come here a few times always buying 3 or more tea flavors. Really have enjoyed each of them. Definitely recommend this store. read more

I was walking around Old Town and stumbled on Old Barrel Tea company. To be honest it was the pleasant smell as I was walking by that got my attention. Even though it was quite busy in the shop I wasn't greeted right away by Penny and Mateo. I am not a tea drinker normally so I had all kinds of questions and Penny took the time to answer every last one. She explained all the different teas, let me try many different varieties they had brewed, and since I was buying gifts - even took the time to gift bag it. I do not normally write reviews, but I am making an exception for them. It was a "teasperience" that I would HIGHLY recommend!!! read more

The Old Barrel Tea Company is a very cute tea shop off the Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque. They carry tea, teapots, other tea accoutrements, honeys, snacks, and spices. The spices are being discontinued as of October 2024, so they are not being restocked as they get cleared out. They carry Vietnamese cinnamon, which is perfect for fall drinks. The store associate was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was a former barista and not only knew tea, she also could speak about mixing other drinks while incorporating tea or honey. She was very approachable and at ease. The store is clean, accessible for those with physical disabilities or walking apparatus, and it's fun to browse. read more

Not only have I made it to one of their stores in the past 7 years... I have been to 3 and was a long time member of the Seasonal Tea Club! (As soon as my move is finalized I will start my seasonal tea club membership back up! It's that good!) Megan is awesome and your direct contact for the Seasonal Tea Club. The Old Town ABQ location is really vibey, just make sure if you have something on your phone to show them load it outside! Their ceiling tiles are gorgeous but make it impossible to get service inside! This is my family's go to for gift swaps! One of my cousins always makes sure I have a gift card/certificate when I come home for the holidays! I am the tea aficionado of the family and it's all because of OBTC!!! read more

So the first time I ever visited old barrel tea company was in Ruidoso, but I was so excited to hear that we had a location here in Albuquerque. You can find them in old town plaza next to a ton of other awesome local businesses. As a local, I still love old town even though some people avoid it because of how popular it is. On a beautiful spring day, I was craving a nice glass of iced tea before an event so I walked over to grab some. Sadly they no longer sell tea by the cup though. I did grab a sample and smelled some of their new summer flavors, but I didn't stock up because I still have a good amount from my last visit. I personally love looseleaf tea and they have some of the best combinations and high-quality stuff. They also of course have a ton of different accessories for your tea needs. read more

I ordered pecan pie tea and a cute kettle online from Old Barrel Tea Company because the rating of Old Barrel Tea is so good, the tea was rated 5 stars, my friend loves pecan pies...and hey..NM is the second producer state of pecans in the US! I loved that the purchase online was very seamless. The order was placed on Christmas day, on the 27th I got an email that they shipped the item out..and ...wow...the order arrived at my friend's place on New Year's Eve! Super speedy! Best of all, my friend loved the tea and thought the kettle was cute~. Thank you Old Barrel Tea for allowing me to impress my friend with products from NM and NM locally-owned shop like yours! read more

We stumbled upon this cute tea shop b/c we ended up snagging parking in front of the shop. The gal was knowledgeable about the teas and eager to give samples. Their samples are sweetened and the gal said it's to bring out the flavors of the tea or something. This was a tad disappointing b/c I really wanted to taste the tea on its own but I get it's a very American thing to add sweetener to hot tea. We bought a couple tins of tea to take home for about $16ish/tin. They have a variety of teas and they all look so beautifully displayed. If you're a tea aficionado, this is the place for you. read more

This a wonderful tea store in old town abq that I seem to drift to every time I'm in town... why? Because, everyone I visit, they have a blend that is so amazing ! Yeah I don't live in abq, I take home tea consistently from this store every visit. They' joyfully hand out samples of tea blend ( where I found my favorite blend for the summer a lavender lemon grass tea that is so phenomenal - it is my iced tea 2023!!!!! And the staff... always happily handing out sample, enthusiastic and honest review of the blends... the young lady who helped today 6/11/23 was so wonderfully joyful giving us tastes and telling us about the blends..... this store just has such a warmth to it, when in old town abq, drop in for a sample.... SUPER cute tea shop. Great variety of teas. Great selection of merchandise inside. I liked the tea tasting. There was 4 teas on ice available for tasting. Cutest store and wonderfully friendly people! I went in there twice over our time in Albuquerque and both times got to taste some wonderful teas and talk with the staff. They know a ton about teas, are a female owned and family small business and take pride in their teas. They even ship so I will definitely be getting some goodies shipped home in the future. I'm also thinking of joining their tea of the month club. Definitely check it out if you are in Albuquerque or online! read more

Old Barrel Tea Company is situated in a spacious storefront in Old Town. They make the space look turn-of-the-20th-century crossed with an updated rustic design down store which makes it sweet and fun to explore. Their teas fit right in with theme they've created. They have an immense selection of teas. If you're like me you want to buy the store out but that's a ton of money and where would you store it all? The staff are friendly and down-to-earth. If you're up for it, they help you to mix and match teas to create new flavors. I don't know ... there's just so many positive things to say about this tea company that this could end up being a really long review. So check it out. Oh, and they offer their teas online. Perfect to stay socially distant. read more

I have bought tea twice and both times the tea had a lot of flavor and was work the purchase. The nice thing is that if you take one of their tins back they will refill for you. I agree with other reviewers - this tea shop is so cute! While exploring Old Town we stumbled upon Old Barrel Tea and I'm so glad we did. As a tea lover, the ability to sample different teas and smell all of their loose leaf teas is great. They have tons of different teas, sorted by type on different barrels. In addition to tea, they have lots of tea accessories - pots, strainers, etc. They also carry some spices, honey, and tons of cute gifts. My mom wants to come back here to do Christmas shopping - you could find some great gifts here. The staff was extremely friendly and encouraged us to try the teas they had for sample that day, as well as the honey. I bought some of their loose leaf black tea in a small tin and have been enjoying it at home. A sign in their store explains that they are a "female run family business" and that everyone who works there has a passion for tea. Truly my kind of local business. I am so glad to have found Old Barrel Tea and will absolutely come back! read more

Love this place! They have free samples usually every time and I love getting to try their teas!! The flavor is soo good!! The staff are awesome and super helpful and knowledgeable about their teas and will give advice. I bought the Lavender brûlée and it's so good with honey and frothed milk!! Be sure to let the tea brew for at least 5 minutes if not more if you want it to be stronger. The shop has all your tea needs as well and many other cute things too!! One of my favorite places to go in Cloudcroft. If you like want or want to try a huge selection of tea this is your place. They always have differences flavor samples everyday. They sell every kind of tea accessory you need along with the cups and kettles. They also sell a huge variety of other things like essential oil, kitchenware, apparel, honey, candles and the list goes on and on. They are very nice and the shop is perfectly displayed and decorated. Good parking and easy walking distance from the center of town. If you need a gift this is the place too. If you're a big tea snob like I am, this place will satisfy. They have a large variety of loose leaf tea (which we all know is better than bagged tea) as well as red and green peppers you can buy! (Makes me wish I knew how to cook with them.) If you don't want buy any loose tea, you can also get individual cups of both hot and iced. I am not as much of a tea drinker as a coffee drinker. I say this because Old Barrel Tea Company's teas are truly delicious and interesting blends. Before COVID, I had tried their teas from Coffee and Chocolate Fests, and, because my husband is a tea lover, I purchased a few types over the years, all of which were delicious (Strawberry Hazelnut Puerh, Horchata Rooibos, Orange Cream Oolong, Banana Coffee Puerh). After COVID, we have done a couple of orders with this company because we wanted some nice teas to sip on to help us relax, and I have been very impressed with the teas we received and how fast they shipped. From the first order, I really loved the Chinese Milk Oolong, Genmaicha, and Pecan Pie Puerh. I also enjoyed the free sample they sent of the Berry (much more than I thought I would! I'm considering getting this one sometime. It's great as an iced tea). From our second order, I simply HAD to try their Bourbon Brew (which is absolutely lovely!), and my husband loved the Mango Paradise also. The tea I was most surprised with was the Mocha Mate. It's gotten to the point where I like to have one cup per day of this! It's so tasty, especially with a little sugar and a splash of half and half. There's something about this tea's flavor that I really love! They also sell honeys, spices, teaware, etc. I've tried their green and red chile powders on popcorn, which is tasty. I have yet to try their honeys, but I'm sure they would be wonderful in some of their teas. This is definitely a favorite tea company for me! read more

If you're a tea drinker this should be a must stop for you. Wowsers! The tea offerings are varied and divided areas with black, green and herbal teas. There are plenty of tea gift items here and other cute kitchen decor. The staff was doing samples. And they certainly knew their stuff.
