Vibey, a little hipster, and exactly the kind of late night spot I love. I love places built around community and connection rather than getting plastered and fueling addictions. Add in the walkable location right next to Sawmill Market and you've got a total win. Cute, cozy, delicious, open late... love love LOVE.

There's quite a bit of indoor seating and I saw friends meeting up for a chat as well as people studying or reading by themselves; so it's a very multifunction bar/cafe. Service was very quick and when I had questions about the difference between the two matcha teas I was debating between, the barista actually brought out both matcha tins for me to look at the color and scent. Their menu has been updated to have 3 types of matcha available and sadly I didn't photograph it as the photos here are the previous matcha offerings. Both matcha powders are a fresh vibrant green and one smells more nutty/bitter (the one I opted for) vs the other that smells more sweet. Hot Matcha Tea 4/5, this was great and I got some agave syrup on the side if I wanted sweetener. Price wise this is $$ given the size of the tea Sea Salt Chocolate Cookie 4/5, this was a lovely dark chocolate bitter cookie that paired well with the sea salt and the tea

There's a little bell if we needed anything. The waitress came in after each tier to give us the next tier of food. I loved that we got our own private suite. The decor was gorgeous. When we had signed up for tea time, I had let the staff know about dietary restrictions, which the waitress knew about. We also let them know that we had come for our anniversary, and the staff made it so special by having a cute little sign on our table. Every course comes with its own tea. Just the teas themselves were incredible. I couldn't have enough of the tea. The pot was kept warm as well on our table. All of the food was absolutely delicious. I also loved that the price you pay for the experience is the total price-tax and tip were included in the price. I would highly recommend coming here for a tea experience.

I think part of the reason for this preference is the disconnect between the expected and actual experience. With the Ivy Tearoom's unique private rooms (and price), I expected an elevated experience like St. James and La Quinta. The food is delicious but feels like what you would make at home. They have a suggested pairing for each course but you can switch it out for a different tea on their expansive menu if you would like. The tea was good but I didn't like how they used sugar packets instead of sugar cubes.
