Dirty and Expensive ! It just feels dirty, we stayed a night in their "queen suite" it was just dirty fridge was dirty kitchen, table, chairs, floor, actually everything was dirty except, sheets and plates. One room had no electricity, stove was broken, locks on door are sketchy and easely breakable. After paying 200$ for one night we went to our Queen suite via the broken wooden stairs, opened the broken main door started cleaning instantly it was gross. Stayed a night and went at 7:50am at the office to give back the keys. The women shout it is only open at 8:00am! We just left the keys with a thank you and bye. They didn't respond nothing. At least a little thank you for robbing you would have been great. If you are able, just drive 40min both side from Olancha and go somewhere else! We just feel like we have been robbed a 100% I would definitely not recommend this place to eat and to stay overnight. read more

I just wanted to post about this place. We were happy to see a cafe out there. We stopped off because we were hungry. We ordered two breakfasts with eggs bacon and hash brown and toast. At first we weren't sure whether we go in or what, due to a sign on the door, but a sign said open in the window, but the sign on the door was about curbside. The door was open so we opened it a young man was there inside and we asked if they were open and he said yes but that we had to order and wait outside. So we ordered and I attempted to give my payment but was told to go outside because he had to add up our ticket. So we complied, but it was more the way he said it very rude. We sat at an outdoor table in the shade because it was heating up. He came and said our meal was ready and to go in to pay after about 15 minutes. I gave my card again, I never saw a ticket. He took the card and had me sign and pointed to the boxes and said there is your food. Everything was fine bacon crisp like we ordered, but only one piece of toast cut in half. I think for what we paid and what we got it was a little high. Its obvious due to all this virus talk this young man was freaked out to deal with people. So knowing that its a cafe in the middle of nothing and the food that was served they must not get that much business. Despite the virus you don't have to be rude to your customers. If your too afraid to work with the public maybe take time off. Im am not trying to be unsensitive but we have been traveling and non of the other establishments were rude. They all wore masks and some had spaced dining room seating and cleaned everything. So due to how we were spoken to I would not return. The small eastern Sierra community of Olancha, CA is a "utopia" for outdoor enthusiasts, as the are offer unlimited outdoor recreation, including hunting, fishing, backpacking, exploring, four wheeling; you name it. During or after your outdoor adventure, you'll be looking for something to eat, and the snacks, canned food, and the limited selection of fresh meat at the only gas station/mini mart probably isn't what you're interested in. May I suggest a visit to Olancha Cafe for an outstanding meal? As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the small, rustic dining room, but rustic is truly in keeping with the spirit of Olancha, since the eastern Sierra region of California is a rustic as it gets. Weather permitting, you can dine outside on the porch, or on a large patio in front of the restaurant. Tonight's dinner menu is limited, and it printed on an a-frame chalkboard. There is no printed menu. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the semi-remote location of Olancha, which is a long way from any major population center. My choice for dinner was the "Olancha Burger," an amazing cheeseburger, that came with a side of fries. I rarely can resist a burger of any variety, especially such a quality burger. The menu simply lists this amazing dish as an "Olancha Burger," so I asked my server, Chris what the burger was all about and if it came with fries. (You have to ask these questions in many semi-remote areas, and especially in nation parks...) He described it as a "basic cheeseburger" and said it came with fries. Sold! However, when he presented this "basic cheeseburger" to me, I was in for a pleasant surprise, to say the least. The "Olancha Burger" starts off with a large - most likely a third of a pound - piece of beer, perfectly cooked, medium. When I ordered, I didn't bother to specify how I wanted my burger cooked, as "medium" seems to be the gold standard, but this beef patty was perfect. It was placed on a large, toasted, fresh bun, and I noted the burger featured the ideal meat-to-bun ratio, which is crucial for those who love a delicious burger. A large piece of melted cheese was on top of the meat, and the burger was garnished with fancy lettuce, tomato slices, white onion slices, and finished with dill pickle slices. There were no condiments applied, as they were placed on the table, so it was up to me to dress my burger to my liking. I did request mayonnaise, and I was rewarded with a small cup of mayo, which was just right to dress my burger. I simply applied mayonnaise, as this delicious burger didn't require any other condiments. Any way you look at, this is a quality cheeseburger. The meal includes a generous portion of fries, cut on the thin side, with potato skin on a few of them, fried to a deep golden brown. The fries were great, as they weren't salty or greasy, and the complimented my amazing burger. I must confess that I did pour some ketchup on the side for dipping, as ketchup brings the "kid" out of me. The "Olancha Burger" along with the fries were delicious! I noted the meat, cheese and bun were hot, and the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle were cold, which is paramount to a great burger, and the "Olancha Burger" has it all. This is a great burger in every way! Olancha Cafe is family owned and operated, and they pride themselves on serving quality food at a very reasonable price, especially considering the relatively remote eastern Sierra location. When you're visiting Olancha, and you're ready to enjoy a quality, delicious meal, head over to Olancha Cafe. We stopped here on our way back to OC from another camping trip in Independence. The menu was written on an A-Frame chalkboard and there were two people working. The place is tiny with a fireplace and a decorated mantle inside. We just happened to have a bad experience at a place in Lone Pine and left before we got our food. This place was on the way home and we were so surprised by the experience. It seemed the guests of the RV park/teepee rooms were the main guests at the restaurant here which was intriguing on its own. There was a very friendly/funny British couple, a biker group of 3 who had broken down somewhere close, and an elderly couple inside. I wanted to people watch/converse here for the rest of the day. We loved the vibe. Anyway, the food. UNREAL. My husband and I both got breakfast burritos, they were obviously well thought out. The flavor had depth and the ingredients were fresh, not what we expected from a quant little roadside spot. Just from that experience last week we can't wait to go back and probably stay the night in one of their teepees which we looked up and the insides of those are a pleasant surprise, too. Very solid considering the location! Hours vary seasonally, but in march 2017 it was open whenever someone wanted food. Honk twice or call the general store. Service and atmosphere: friendly & simple. Might even be BYOB, ask when you get in. Nice waitress/cook helped us without doting. The exterior patio is very pretty (too windy to enjoy). Interior is clean, and welcoming. Food: better than expected! Fries were decent, cheese burger was thick, breakfast burrito was a solid meal by itself, not an anemic fast food bite size snack. Price: could easily gouge tourists here, but instead a meal for two was less than $20. Would consider this place 4 stars if they had loads of competition in a downtown area, but considering where it is, the hours, and that it might even be BYOB, it definitely earns 5. read more

And the eggs were over cooked so they turned gray/brown. The bacon and sausage were good. Overall I would stop again but it's not something I would brag to friends about or really even suggest. If your in the area and need somewhere to eat, good place with the basics. It's a small place so don't expect to get in and out quick. It's small and run by the people at the resort so the hours are a little sketchy. They have been busier with the Ranch House closing so they have extended breakfast hours till 10 or 11 depending on business. They take a break then open for lunch till dinner. If only 10 stars was an option! This is the most friendly and humble cafe I have ever been to! We had some bad car trouble while sitting in traffic in 110 degree heat with our dog in the car. The cafe wasn't opened yet but we had explained our situation and without hesitation, they opened the cafe early and gave us water including a bowl of water for our pup! Chris was incredibly friendly and extremely helpful, he even checked our engine before we got back on the road! I can't thank these people enough for saving us that day. This was our first time eating here, we have driven by here dozens of times and never stopped. They weren't open until 6pm for dinner, but we decided to wait.
