My car's going along smoothly after the last repair only for the ominous Check Engine light to go on. Called Brent and got an instant repair slot. That Check Engine light did mean bad news but Country Side repaired everything beautifully. What we really appreciate with them is that they kept us in the loop with the repair. There was a problem getting a proper replacement for one of the major car parts which they told us about and called to let us know how they were able to handle it. That's how I was introduced to Rick, who apparently is one of the mechanics who calls customers when Brent's busy elsewhere. Another great service was that they test drove our car after the repair to make sure the car drove well and checked out before handing it back to me. When I first started the engine I was blown away. There was virtual silence as the engine quietly purred. It hasn't sounded that great since the first few years we owned it. You kind of expect a car to sound noisier as it ages and piles up the miles. We've got a new-sounding car again. The rear shocks were also replaced and now the ride and suspension feel as tight as a new car, which is exactly how I prefer a car to feel as I'm driving it around. We're really happy with the repairs, and the cost was a great deal for all the work done, including the parts. Finding a great, trustworthy auto repair shop is essential for putting down roots in an area where you've chosen to live, right up there with doctors, dentists, a host of repair people for making repairs around your house and for appliances, and things like that. Country Side remains the best auto repair shop we've ever found in Kitsap County.

They fixed me right up when I came in for my appt. And after the residual oil burned off, no more smoking and no more oil leak! Side note: my car had recently been stolen and abandoned and the ignition tumbler was messed up. I told them as fair warning for turning on/off And I had an annoying belt squeak usually when I'd first start the far after sitting for any decent amount of time (a few hours to overnight). It wasn't until I parked my car and turned it off that I realized they fixed the ignition tumbler, too! (Not sure how difficult that was for them) And then later, I realized I wasn't hearing any squeaking belt starting up my car. They fixed that up, too! And they are super helpful even giving their thoughts on different issues with the car to look into as they notice them and they don't charge an arm and a leg. Very happy with their services and will definitely be using them as my go-to mechanic as I'm fairly new to the Bremerton area.

Wouldn't give me back my car long enough to get the unnecessary new parts removed. Three illegal things in the state of WA - doing unnecessary work, lying to the customer about the problem and needed work, and increasing the estimate by over 10% (more like 30%) without confirming with the customer. Ended up having to deal with their corporate office who eventually sorted it out for us, but if we hadn't been persistent enough to fight them on it, they'd have just taken 130% of the estimate while having done absolutely nothing to address the problem. We agreed to pay them for their unnecessary labour, so we're out $400 plus the cost of the tows there and back and we're right back at square one. These guys are predators.

Many years ago I use Burton Auto almost exclusively. The auto repair shop behind the pottery shop…read morein downtown vashon tried to strong arm me into replacing my engine for hundreds of dollars more than other places charge for engine replacement. Worried about spending that much money, I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Burton Auto and spoke to the owner. The owner of Burton Auto advised me that I did not need a new engine. I drove my vehicle for 10 more years before selling it. I didn't need car repair but I use Burton Auto for oil changes and other maintenance. A few years ago I went back to Burton auto. The owner was nowhere in sight nor was his son or daughter. They were incredibly rude. I brought the car in for repair after having extensive diagnostic testing done by a mechanic that came to my house but then got another job. My car was an old car and it needed a special relay ordered for the electrical system. I was told Burton could get this. They called me a few hours later and told me to come get my car. They said it would take a while to get the part. I went and they wanted hundreds of dollars. Nothing had been repaired. They wanted a couple of hundred of dollars to tell me that the part I already knew needed to be replaced, needed to be replaced. Another time I went in with a flat tire. One of the workers screamed swear words at me for being in his way. Washington is one of the states where auto mechanics are not required to have professional licenses. Sometimes this shows in a very bad way.

I've heard nothing but good things about this shop so I was really surprised when it took them 4 times to fix the power steering pump on my daughter's Subaru. They kept citing manufacturer defect as the issue for the 3 broken pumps. They were apologetic and eager to try and make it right which I appreciated. What I did not appreciate was the advice of a mechanic, who was familiar with the car, being completely discounted. (Since the car was initially unsafe to drive off island my daughter was unable to take it to her usual mechanic.) The car continued to have problems until my daughter was able to get it to her mechanic who completely fixed everything and reported that some kind of sensor had been unplugged and not plugged back in and the wrong power steering fluid had been used. Burton Auto was very apologetic and refunded my daughter the amount she had to pay to have their mistakes fixed, which I really appreciated. I decided to give them another shot with my car because they were so nice and seemed to genuinely want to help. I had my battery replaced which seemed fine except they weren't exactly sure the battery they had would work and had to call the auto parts place on island to ask. I figured they should know but appreciated them making sure. Next time I had them change my oil, check my breaks, and asked them to see if there were brighter headlights available for my car and asked about the new LED headlights. I was told they didn't know about the LED headlights but would look into it. When I picked up my car one of the wheels was totally loose and I could barely drive the car so I had to turn around only a couple hundred feet away. The headlights they put in, which I specifically asked them to only replace the headlights if something brighter was available, were about half as bright as the ones they took out. They never looked into the LED headlights like they said they would and my fog lights are now brighter than my headlights. Before I couldn't even tell if the fog lights were on except in fog. Now I practically need the fog lights on to all the time. I was charged $150 for the bulbs and replacement. I feel really frustrated and won't use their shop again. The mechanics seem to have no idea what they're doing. The employees are very nice but after hearing nothing but good things about this place I feel it's really important that consumers have honest information about the service and mechanics here.
