Many who come to the area are drawn to Dirty Laundry because of heavy marketing and a huge…read moreexpansion, but all the hype seems to dilute the fact that their wine is sub par. If one is looking for wine rather than a tourist trap, Thornhaven is the go-to winery in Summerland. The place is very intimate and often has excellent live music. But you come for the wine. And the wine is brilliant. Typically a winery will have two to four good wines, but every year they have five to seven astounding wines. If you are looking for award-winning wine, all you need to do is look beyond the tasting bar and view the awards that fill the wall, floor to ceiling. Next time your in the area, make a point to step off the beaten trail to Thornhaven.

Thornhaven Estates Winery is one of my favourite winery in Summerland, BC. Been a few times…read more Always excellent service and always walk out with a bottle or two. The tasting is $5 non-refundable but you get 7-8 pours. Terry is so knowledgeable, and he does not influence your taste bus buds but works with you to find your best taste. Two years ago, I bough their rose but this time I bought the 2022 Pinot Meunier ($24 including tax and bottle deposit). Terry also suggested another local small family winery for their Gamay Noir - which we also loved. Thornhaven's settling is beautiful with rows and rows of vines and peaks of the Okanagan Lake and hilltops. Buying a bottle or glass of wine and you can bring in our own picnic to enjoy on the patio or the Adirondack chairs.

Always a good time at Elephant Island…read more Tasting is $10.00/person, non-refundable for 4 pours. There's always two flight options to choose from. The orchard is great to relax and sip on a few wines. - Gin botanical cider - we were offered a cider to start before our flight. Light, subtle gin flavour. - The Rockstar ($10.00) - we were given 2021 pear, 2021 black currant, 2022 framboise fortified, 2022 apricot dessert and 2022 cassis. We were happy to sample a few more wines. All their fruit wines are delicious. Only the pear was light in flavour.

DIRTY WINE GLASS and WATER glass. Review the photo…read more Food: - they don't offer food here. Service: - I specifically drove 14 hours from Calgary to this location as I remember 6 years ago this would my fondest memory of Kelowna. That changed very quickly. - This old lady with glasses, white shirt, and curly white hair that was managing the cash register around 1-130pm on August 11th 2023 was very rude to our party of "12". We told her we didn't need a table that large as not everyone in our group drinks and wanted to explore the winery. She started to give us an attitude and said that we can't have the rest standing around the winery. Could it be racism ? I 1000% believe so. Seeing that we were a group of Asian people she definitely didn't give us the service that she gave to other parties. My family was really excited to come here as majority of them was their first time here. 100% would NEVER come here again. I would recommend anyone that is not white to come her as this place is RACIST towards no white people Horrible service. Shameful. Awful experience. The ONLY upside was our wine tasting lady. She was very nice, but due to the sour experience of that cashier lady. I will never come back. Our party was about to buy 10 bottles of wine to bring back to Calgary and lucky we brought our services elsewhere. Ambiance: - terrible. Due to the experience above.

The tasting is $10 for 5 pours but can apply the $10 for any purchases. My favourite was their 2018 Gamy Noir in chilled. The Gamy Noir is so easy drink so perfect for summertime with a variety of food. The log cabin housing the shop is beautiful and cozy. The family who runs the winery also lives on the estate in another log house. There is live music in the summertime and guest are welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy on their patio with their wines. On my next visit, we will be stopping by with our own picnic to enjoy their wines and to chat it up with Anna!

How have we not made it here on our many previous tours of the Summerland wineries? It's a bit off…read morethe beaten path, but was definitely worth it as we love the floral whites that grow so well in the Okanagan. Summer Gate is a small family affair, producing only ~1500 cases of high quality organic, off-dry whites such as Riesling, Muscat and Kerner. They perennially win gold medals for their wines, and we enjoyed them thoroughly.

Our first winery of the day was at SummerGate Winery. It's a family run winery (husband and wife…read morecombo with their kids helping out). They're a certified organic winery that specializes in white wines. Tasting fee is a non-refundable $10.00/person (for 6 pours). They only offer tastings outside where you can sit at one of their many patio tables. Our pourer was very sweet and friendly. - 2021 Muscat ottonel - this was unique. - 2021 Solstice - a blend of four white wine grape. - 2021 Kerner - 2021 Riesling - our favourite from the wines we tasted. The "sweetest" of the bunch. Riesling was well balanced and crisp. - 2021 Rosé - notes of strawberry and cream. They use pinot noir grapes for their rosé. - 2021 Moscato frizzante - the bubbly version of their muscat ottonel. All their white wine offerings are dry and very low in sugar. Check out SummerGate if you're a fan of organic, dry white wines. 3.5 stars.
