We came here after seeing the winery on the Kettle Valley Train ride. It was very busy. You had to pre buy your wine tasting before entering the tasting room, however tasting was only $6 so not bad. We got to taste 5 wines and there were a lot of choices for white wine. We tasted a few that we liked and we all left with 2 bottles a piece. The young man who did our tasting was great and told us a lot about the wine. The lady who cashed us out was wonderful, friendly and told us about their wine points and we got $5 off our purchase for signing up. Great wine, just a bit busy and touristy for me. read more

This is such a cute winery in Summerland. The staff are so wonderful and the service is just so great. The story behind it is actually quite interesting so I'm glad we got to stop here and check it out. Dirty Laundry is a fun and cool little winery on Bottleneck Drive in Summerland, BC. They serve wood fired pizzas that are incredibly good along with BBQ plates which I have yet to try. We have been here a few times and truly think it's one of the best places in the Okanagan Valley! Yes, there are over 300 but we have never been disappointed.. Best pizza in British Columbia and well worth the trip. Their wine is also very and they have a good reputation for one on BC's iconic wineries. I was very disappointed with their pet policy, tie your dog up in the parking lot and cross your fingers it's still there when you return. I went to Wild Goose Winery, which was pet friendly, great food and the wine beats Dirty Laundry by a long shot, just look at their awards. I'm supporting businesses that look after pets and their owners. Dirty Laundry is not pet friendly, strongly recommend only using their takeout service only. read more

Watch out for limited kitchen hours. much less than the hours the facility is open. Out of town guests and a visit here to find out the kitchen was closed. The entire purpose of the visit was for the once delicious pizza. I'm sitting and watching the kitchen serve lots of pizzas to others. Yet we were turned flat down. The Walmart of Vineyards lol. For those who only know about Dirty Laundry and nothing else. This has got to be the most underwhelming Vinyard in the Okanagan I mean, the wine is OK but the service is awful. We actually were on a wine tour, confirmed the appointment to ensure that we were able to come in. We specially asked if we could book for lunch, they said yes, but when we got there they said they don't take lunch reservations. So here we are, on time for our tasting and then being told that we need to wait to be seated. It actually sours the experiencee because it's not a cheap Vinyard and is allegedly "famous" for their amazing tours and hospitality. I think not. If you want to be pumped through like you're on a conveyor belt, you should come here. You have no agency on what you try, you just try what they give you. Additionally, the server was not wearing a mask. We ended up putting our own masks on because it seems like they're not taking covid restrictions seriously. There are stantions, but the server reaches over anyway so it's not like physical distancing is important to them. Lunch was pizza. There is only pizza. It was OK. Nothing to write home about. We asked for no mushrooms on it and there were mushrooms. The food took almost 50 mins to come out. For a pizza... I almost died of old age here. Bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor. I'm not sure they check on it much throughout the day. Thankfully there is was ample soap. Could not get out of there fast enough! Will not be back. If you're looking for a less commercial/boring Vinyard I would recommend Sage Hills. read more

This winery is out-of-the-way, but worth the trip. The huge patio has a grape vine covered pergola and over looks the vineyard and Kettle Valley train. The pizza is amazing and BBQ smoke meats mouth watering. They have not only their wines by the bottle or glass, but also local beer on tap, gourmet soda pop, and gelato. It was ok for me as I felt bad for them but if u like to hear stories and such this might not be the best. Wines taste good, they had soda crackers and chocolate to to with one of their red wines. My aunt took me to this winery and we got to have a a tasting of a couple different local wines. We had tried on 3 different days to get in and finally got lucky, the lady who served us was knowledgeable about the ones and their flavour notes. This was my second visit with about 10 years in between. Wow!! This place has changed so much, from a small little tasting room with a nice patio to the large place it is now. I was amazed at how much this place has grown and how wonderfully playful the atmosphere and the staff are. The wine tasting was probably my most memorable of my trip since the lady was so exuberant and truly enjoyed her entertaining. The story of how the name became right up to the tasting was truly worth the visit. Take the time to stop in here for a visit and even make your own picnic to sit on the patio and enjoy the view. Ahhh, the good old days, where prostitution was legal, and nearly everyone had tuberculosis. What better way to celebrate antiquity than to sell corsets and lingerie at a winery in the middle of nowhere. Commemorate a time of alcohol, hookers, and obsolete misogynistic beliefs centered around a laundromat that doubled as a whorehouse by purchasing wine and related merchandise at a winery only taking inspiration by said bordello to the extent of using the name to spice up the décor and as an excuse to sell branded products offering the impression a Stokes store had just invaded La Senza. Don't be surprised if it all comes up as being slightly disingenuous. Now, don't misunderstand, I absolutely am not a killjoy, and I believe the majority of vice laws should be stricken from the books, but it does come off as a little insincere when you use a clandestine brothel as your inspiration for a winery and then sell branded glasses and coasters and clothes to people in tribute to a business you have absolutely no relation to. In traveling to numerous wineries from Osoyoos to Kelowna, my girlfriend and I had taken in a broad range of locations. Sixty in all, in fact, and we returned with 120 bottles after our week-long journey. The ones I enjoyed the most involved more intimate operations where guests were sold directly from winemakers in pleasant tasting rooms. The more commercial, or rather corporate, wineries certainly stifled that relation in exchange for proven business practices where hosts are taught what to say and how to say it to maximize time and potential sales. However, the locations were often spectacular, leading to numerous photos being taken of the décor and view. Even with those, the wines were still placed front and center, the personality of the winery generally taking a step back in favor of selling bottles. With Dirty Laundry, it feels like they are selling themselves as a brand more than their wine. The bulk of their store is occupied by merchandise and not bottles to purchase. Now, this is not really a bad thing--Mission Hill spent millions on presenting themselves as viticulture royalty, a position I still don't feel they earned. But when we left the winery, we had purchased shirts and coasters, but only one bottle of wine. The winery itself is, no joke, probably one of the biggest diversions to reach, right up there with See Ya Later Ranch. For a good two minutes, you'll swear Google Maps had betrayed you, leaving you stranded atop a mountain with no one to hear you cry for help. And then Dirty Laundry reveals itself, and narrow roads with no sidewalk open into a sprawling complex with tour bus parking. When we arrived, the location was almost at capacity. As such, I had to wedge myself between two other groups to start a tasting--my girlfriend couldn't even fit. The wines were pretty good, and I like the touch of affixing a clothespin to my shirt when I approached the bar. Yes, Dirty Laundry does come off as a budget adult Disneyland, or worse, a budget adult Magic Kingdom. However, I should give it credit for doing something different, firing a blast of buckshot to a wall and seeing what connects, necessary given the extent one must go to even reach here. The hosts are extremely pleasant and do their best in the cacophony of noise echoing through the room. It does boast one of the best views in Summerland; you can't deny that. Dirty Laundry takes the top prize in marketing, with additional marks for location and overall panache. I travel for the location, as I can get the wine back home (now), and Dirty Laundry was certainly justified. If you like that sort of thing, don't miss this one. read more

I get the whole marketing story, but the truly sexist comment about "the most expensive way for a man to get laundry done is to get married" is a bit, well, inappropriate in this day and age. If you're looking for a fun winery, look no further. We visited this on our way OUT of wine country, so it was the last one and we were delighted with this gem. It's focus is FUN and that's not always the case in the wineries. The wines were tasty and fair priced. The tasting was not rushed and they give you a card to rate the wines you're tasting so you can refer to it later. I put mine on my fridge as it lists every single wine they make. The merchandise is superb and you can also get a picnic for the 5 star view on the patio. Definitely worth the trip! read more

Dirty Laundry Winery has some cool things going for it, I'm just not sure that wine is one of them. That's not necessarily a bad thing though because the concept, marketing and location of this vineyard is such a stellar package that people will come here just cause it's a fun and zany place to be. Like the Cheers of wineries. The folk tale behind Dirty Laundry is this: "During the gold rush era, our town's laundry seemed innocent enough. Little did anyone know of the naughty business that went on behind the scenes..." Spoiler alert: There was a brothel operating in the upstairs portion of the Laundromat. I'm not convinced of the validity of this tale but that's ok because the end result is pretty cute: bra's and garters are strung cheekily over the entry way to the wine shop and inside you'll find t-shirts/undies for sale with the dirty laundry emblem on them. Hey, throw in some sex, a little intrigue and alcohol and you've got yourself one heck of a story! On top of this, DL has a sweet as it comes set up with views of Okanagan Lake, the Summerland trestle and a wine leaf covered pergola! A few things I was a little disappointed about: As Darcy C points out, DL might be getting a little ahead of itself seeing as only 3/13 wines listed as available this fall are actually available for purchase/tasting. I won't get into an individual vintage review but suffice to say the Bordello is this wineries shining star and it's quite lovely however $39 is steep in comparison to similar caliber wines from other wineries in the area, with less of a marketing budget. I like you, Dirty Laundry. You're fun and care free! I think a lot of your wine is bought by people caught up in your sexiness. Hopefully in a few years time (when you're not sitting quite as perky as you are now) you'll settle into more of a wine lovers winery. For now, you're cute as hell! read more

Dirty Laundry is a gorgeous winery to visit if you're ever in Summerland. They've made some substantial upgrades to this winery since I was here last (more than 4 years ago). The white wines are a hit for those who are a fan of off dry wines. Must tries are the (1) Madam's Vines and (2) Woo Woo. They are a bit too sweet for my own liking, but I can see why they are so popular and would be great on the patio. The reds are ok. Nothing really stood out in particular. This is a beautiful winery, with plenty of places to sit and drink wine overlooking the lake, and watch the steam train meandering up the hill every so often. And, they wisely and considerately sell tasty snacks- a perfect spot to stop for lunch while on wine tour. However, their wines are a little uneven. I suspect their wines will steadily improve in the years to come- I think they have just been victims of their success, and are rushing things a wee bit. However, at this point, their pinot noir should be avoided, even for tasting. Their whites are more solid- I quite liked their Woo-Woo gewurztraminer and got a few bottles. I'll be back (for lunch), and I suspect in a few years, their wines will be very solid. And, I have to say, their winery swag was terrific- I find myself slightly regretful that I didn't buy a pair of their winery undies- very cute! Next time! read more

Most funky winery in Summerland. You can buy a bottle of wine (they do not charge a corking fee), get a picnic basket and fill it with cheeses a meats (supermarket prices) and sit on their patio and enjoy your wine. It reminds me of Italy. It is lush and pretty. Dirty laundry is a must. If you have just one winery to visit, this is the one! read more

Compared to the other wineries in the area, this was a huge disappointment. The staff were stiff and robotic. The tasting was prescriptive with little to no wiggle room based on personal preference. This winery is clearly more interested in creating a kitschy tourist attraction and pushing through as many people as fast as possible than in creating decent wine. read more

This winery had free tastings except for the dessert wines, however they didn't have all the bottles open and available for tasting. I would have to say that their Hush wine, which is a blush was their best wine (we bought a bottle). I thought their reds were absolutely terrible, we had one that tasted like smoke and tabacco and it was hard to finish the tasting. They also had a really cute picnic idea which I'm a little sad we didn't get to do but it was near the end of the day and I we were pushed for time. Fun kinky twist on ur classic fancy winery - pizza was great it's more of a food court style sit down area than a service restaurant but my only complaint is I went to have a nice relaxing meal and wine tasting on vacation and they sat us right beside a table of 7 year olds on thier iPads singing and fighting and screaming I was pretty annoyed.
