Great oil change place the manager is really nice they took great care of me. It was fast and real simple not along wait very professional and a decent price read more

I don't get my oil changed very often due to a combination of not driving much and bad inherited car maintenance habits. Nobody has fun getting an oil change, and Alton and Gio at Oil Changers make it as palatable as it can be! I arrived on a Sunday morning, and I was probably the first person to arrive. They were super quick and friendly. They told me that I should change my power steering fluid and that whole my transmission fluid should be changed every two years (or 30,000 miles), it was fine as is. I appreciate when they give you real feedback as opposed to just telling you to have fluids changed on a schedule even if it doesn't apply to you. read more

As soon as I came in the staff were super welcoming and helpful. Plus there was no wait -- so you know I loved that 5 stars read more

Horrible experience. They we're rude. Laughed at any questions. Wanted to only talk about the food we we're eating while waiting.

Handled business, better than Jiffy lube. Quick service and helpful employees. Go here for you oil change and service needs. read more

Oil Changers - Oil Change Stations Near Me - Berkeley, California

I'll start by recognizing that I have a Volkswagen Eurovan. It's not the newest of cars and it's European and as such, I understand that it can often feel like a unique type of oil change when you realize it has a skid plate and requires a certain type of oil filter that's not always in stock. This is my third or fourth time coming here and every time I come there's always an issue with why they can't service my van and I'm told to come back another day. They don't have the oil filter, don't have the right kind of oil, etc. Ive had this happen enough times that I now bring my own oil filter because I know it's going to come up. Today, after they told me as expected that they didn't have the oil filter, I let them know I had my own. A few minutes later, they told me they didn't have the "specific tool" to remove the skidplate. When I told them all it required was a simple socket wrench, they said they didn't have it. They went on by trying to tell me it was a specific "European part" that they had to order. I know that's not true because I've changed the oil myself before and the skid plate is held by fairly common bolts that a socket wrench could take out. At this point, I've had several experiences here and at the Richmond oil changers where they've complained about having to take the skid plate out while doing my oil change that I wasn't surprised when it felt like they were just making excuses as to why they couldn't do my oil change. I was appreciative that they topped off my oil before I left but it's frustrating that you can't trust whether they're going to be willing or able to do your oil change whenever you show up. As we drove out, the servicer told us to make sure we "come early next time so that we have everything you need." If you don't have something in stock like an oil filter or "special tool", that has nothing to do with being there early. We showed up at 6, one hour before they closed. We were the only ones in line. Unfortunately, this further confirmed for me that they just didn't want to do our oil change when we showed up. read more

I had an excellent experience getting my oil change. I came here on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. It lasted all of 15 minutes with zero wait time. I used the $5 off yelp deal and came in under $50. The guys are super nice, patient, and quick. Would definitely recommend! read more

Oil change was great. Even gave us a window wash. No line on a Saturday, quick and easy.

These folks are good. Fair, honesty, and customer friendly. One of the very few businesses I patronize in Berkeley on a regular basis. Too many whack jobs in positions of power. read more

Great guys! They got me in and out pretty quick. Plus they are professional and friendly! I crossed the bridge to come here because of their reviews and definitely worth it! Highly recommended read more

Awesome crew puttin in good quality work. And they clean your winsheld and top off the air.

On this very hot day, Harry and Jimmy were cool, calm and pros the whole time. Expeditious as always!

Excellent service team, in particular, the black gentleman who seemed to be the manager. He understood how particular I am with my car. I bring my own oil, and inspect everything after my car is serviced. (I had a bad experience with an oil change place years ago, and it's left me deeply scarred!) Unfortunately, I did not get the gentleman's name, but he had close cut hair and was completely calm, understanding, and soothing. 100% professional. Oil Changers is lucky to have him!! EDIT: I think it was Shawn Hamilton, according to my records. :) read more

I wish that I could give these guys 30 stars! I just went there to have my oil and tires checked. These guys went out of their way to take care of everything with such great attitudes. Turns out I didn't need oil, but did need to get air in the tire underneath my car. I just can't get over how positive they were. Really a great bunch of guys working there. As a matter of fact, I've been going there for years now and each time I've gone, I've only the best experience. 30 Stars isn't really enough. With thanks and appreciation to the folks at the San Pablo ave in Berkeley California Oil Changers! read more

Always quick and easy. Close to my house, not a line usually (compared to El Cerrito one).

Always super friendly and fast, my go to spot for oil changes in Berkeley. Literally 5 minutes in and out. My Subaru uses up oil quick and they will top me off once a month if I need. read more

My car had been saying "low oil" for about two weeks. I finally left work and decided on a whim to get my oil changed. By time I pulled up in front of the location, they were closing in 6min. Two gentlemen came out and greeted me. I could tell they wanted to leave but they literally took me still. They changed my oil and flushed out the engine. Totally professional and they were exactly what should be the standard at any establishment. I will continue coming here often for my oil change. read more

Such great customer service! The two men who were working today were such gentlemen. I was worried one of my tires had gotten really low on air and didn't want to make the 1 hour trek home before making sure it was safe. I stopped by this Oil Changers and asked if they would help me by checking my tires' air pressure then fill it up as needed. Daniel was very helpful and kind. He took care of it and his co-worker recommended a local place that could help patch up my tire in less than 20 minutes and at a very reasonable fee. Thank you for being there for me! Keep up the great work. read more

Monday morning. Raining. Cranky sick baby. Insane bay area traffic everywhere. Cranky daddy, who then recalls he forgot to get the GDMF oil changed in the car (can you call a thing that robs you of all your dignity in the name of efficiency a car? - looking at you you filthy prius ....) over the weekend. Cursing happens. Loud cursing. Then, miraculously, I went to this oil changers. Did I have to get out and wait in some wet, sticky waiting room that somehow smells both of auto shop and expired rhino taint? No, I did not. I got to sit in my car the WHOLE TIME like the friggin King of Albany or something. Did I have to wait long? No, I did not. In fact I waited less than one minute before my car was in the Bay and being worked on. Most confusing, the mechanics were friendly and personable - do they know the damage they are doing to the hard earned surly reputation of the oil change place employee? Someone should sit them down and let them know - the only place ruder to its customers than an oil changer place is BOX DOG BIKES (wicked burn!) Did the mechanics barely look at me while trying to do as little as possible yet still be able to justify charging me for an oil change? No they did not. Actually, the guy was nice enough to pull out my cabin filter from the glove box and show me how filthy it was/is (sorry baby....) AND AND AND how to take it out myself so I could clean it. No one has ever done that in the 3 years of prius-ing I've been lucky enough to enjoy. Did they pressure me into all those oil change place up sells that make you feel like if you don't get them your family will die in a horrible wreck because you didn't spend $23.99 on a new air filter? No, they did not. They were so nice, for a minute I thought I was down the street at Berkeley patients group, cause, y'know. Did these guys totally make my day and surprise me with the best oil change experience of my life? They did. Will your experience be this great when you go? Probably. It just felt like that kind of place. And I'm a cranky guy (see: other yelp reviews) who flips heedlessly back and forth between 1st and 3rd person. Cranky daddy thanks you, oil changers. read more

Shawn and his team provided great service for my oil change. They were friendly, efficient and told me what they saw as they ran through their checklist (coolant, tire pressure, vehicle lights, etc). I went here on a Sunday afternoon, because it was the only spot open that could change my oil for me. The service was fast, they got my oil changed and took care of a few extra things and there weren't any problems. I know that this is a chain, but I would I recommend this location. read more

This Oil Changer specifically has been wonderful! This is the second time I go and nothing but friendly and courteous service. I was only there about 15-20 minutes and they had the oil change finished and they also provided some other basic service which blew me away! So taking my car here rather than big name car dealerships where they charge and arm and a leg and barely do anything. I also need to make it a point to leave a big tip next time since this time I had no cash on me and for some reason couldn't add it on my receipt. These guys are so worth it and more! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! read more

I came in to get my oil changed and the guys were very friendly and fast. Jimmy and Harry were their names, great guys. UPDATE 2: I received my car back from the other mechanic. Turns out OC overtightened the filter housing which caused it to crack and all the oil leaked out again. I can't believe this happened a second time at the responsibility of OC. There is no visible sign of damage to my engine but who knows how much the lifetime of the engine was reduced. The housing and filter had to be replaced for a grand total of $550! I will never trust oil changers with my car again. The savings are not worth the damage.... the oil change ultimately cost me over $600. Sure they might be speedy and efficient, but with zero attention to detail. Another thing is they forgot to reattach multiple screws on my skid plate (which I've already replaced once this year) so that would have been another trip to the mechanic and another few hundred dollars to wipe my ass with! UPDATE! Welp, I spoke too soon. Within a couple weeks or so of getting my oil changed here, my oil pressure light started coming on sporadically. REALLY BAD SIGN! I noticed in the garage where I park my car that there was oil all over the floor. Which made me really concerned because I had just driven my car from the Bay to LA and back after getting the change, and I was worried I had screwed up my engine. I took my car back to the same OC location and told them what happened. The manager helped me and said the person who had changed it hadn't put the filter back on correctly which is why it was leaking. I asked for a refund or a free change and he said he couldn't provide it and I would have to call the 800 number and ask. Then he said he refilled and cleaned and fixed everything and it was good to go. Turns out this was NOT the case! Just a few days later my oil is pouring out again and the oil pressure light is back on. I've taken my car and dropped it off at a German auto mechanic to assess the damage. Needless to say I am PISSED. I trusted oil changers and now I do not ever plan to return because of the severe damage this could have caused my car due to what seems like rookie mistakes. I will update my review once I receive a diagnosis from the new mechanic, but I pray my engine isn't completely fucked. I plan on holding OC accountable for any damage that may have been caused. read more

Alton & Drew are the absolute nicest people ever. I have to share a story regarding my experience. I was in California last week and I was driving around solo, when my rental (which was in horrendous shape to start with) indicated that the tires needed air. My husband who was in Dallas, sent me a few body shop addresses where I could go to. After driving around and seeing that the closest one was shut down, I ended up driving around and luckily saw the Oil Changers location. I was unsure if they would, but asked them if they could help me. Alton immediately said "Absolutely, we got you" and was able to help me. He saw that I'm about 7ish months pregnant and had friendly conversation with me. Him and Drew took about 2 minutes to finish up the little task, I offered even to pay them but they refused politely. I honestly wish there were more people in customer facing roles like these two people. Bravo to the Oil Changers brand for employing such stand-up and stellar guys! read more

Everyone here is friendly! You drive in and you don't have to get out of your car. Quick, prompt, efficient. I recommend coming here!

Don't put your car into their hands. We have two cars and live close to the San Pablo Ave location. We've been taking both cars to this store to get oil changes. No more. The last time my oil was changed, within 15 min. of driving on the freeway, this acrid, black smoke started to come out through the vents. I had to pull over to the shoulder, because I couldn't breathe. Luckily, my husband picked me up and drove the car home, breathing through cloth. The smoking has stopped, but the vents give off a buzzing noise whenever the car is started and the clock on the dashboard stopped. My husband took the car to the Oil Change location to get it inspected. The manager listened nicely and promised to file a claim. He said we would get a call back within three to four business days. It's now been TWO WEEKS and we haven't heard back. I called the corporate office, talked to one sympathetic woman named Sue who worked for Accounts Receivable. Unfortunately, she's not customer service. I've left repeated voicemails for the customer service representative, Tony Campbell, to no avail. The receipt from Oil Changers says on the back that I void any claim of their responsibility for my car if I take it to a shop for inspection, without their prior approval. I'm stuck right now. I'm afraid to drive to car. Yet, I can't take it to a garage. I sit in limbo, waiting for someone from Oil Changers to call me back. I will never bring my car back here. read more

Got here at around 9 am on a sunny Wednesday morning. Both car ports were occupied, but I only waited a few minutes for the two men working there to finish up with one of them. After telling one of the men, Jason, that I had been to Oil Changers before (their West Grand location), and that I would like a full service oil change, I sat back while he got to work. I will say that that's one of the things I love about Oil Changers - there is no need to leave your car! I brought a book to read and enjoyed a good 20 minutes of reading while they changed the oil and went through their checklist (printed out on the receipt) - Auto Transmission Fluid Coolant Power Steering Fluid Air Filter Belt Washer Fluid Brake Fluid Battery Windows Vehicle Lights Under Hood Under Chassis Wiper Blades Tire Front Tire Rear My air filter had seen better days so I had them replace it, and the coolant was low so I had them top it off. Here's the breakdown: Air Filter - 11.99 Full Service Oil Change - 35.99 Universal Coolant (2 units) - 9.98 Oil Surcharge - 3 Tax - 3.73 TOTAL - 64.69 Oil Changers will also email you a copy of your receipt and there's a portion of it that tracks when you've visited them, and what you got done. Remember, there's also a $5 off coupon w/ Yelp check-in, AND you can drop by any location for a free top off before 3 months/3,000 miles. Not bad! read more

The great...very quick, courteous, little extras like cleaning your windows The sleazy...they try to sell you every conceivable extra, insisting that your car needs it and is at risk without it. I'd just tell them that I'd have my mechanic check it out, but I sure had to repeat it over and over like a mantra. The worrisome...after using Oil Changers i went to the dealer for the next oil change and the oil was seriously overfilled. Also, the only extra I ever bought was new windshield wiper blades and they were worse than the used ones! I'm going to take the warnings from other people on Yelp very seriously. read more

I have been to oil changers many times and always had a fine experience but this review is about my most recent experience. Upon arriving there was an empty bay and an employee waived at me to go in and said he would be right with me. He then walked away to talk with a friend. At this point I had pulled into the bay. A different employee came up to me and starting yelling at me and telling me that I shouldn't have pulled in. If I misunderstood the first employee, I accept that but the second employee went on to reprimand me 14 times (yes I counted because it was that excessive). The last time he told me to roll up my window and then came over and knocked on it to yet again reprimand me. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable and the response felt excessive. 2 stars because they did do their job of changing the oil despite the overactive and unnecessarily repetitive employee. read more
