That afternoon I received a call from owner Sean who asked questions about the heater and turning on and off water outdoors. Said I wanted a professional to do the flush. He came next am (Sat. ) at appointed time and performed the flush and inspection. He also gave me good information about the heater because of its age, but assured me it is a good brand and is performing well. I'm so glad we called Alpine Plumbing. * Timely *Capable *Experienced * Helpful *Honest We had a leak under our kitchen sink (in Truckee). I couldn't find the source, and Emmanuel found it in less than two minutes. He kindly showed me the source, noted our old faucet had rusted and broken, and after cutting and removing it, showed me the accumulated rust and the little break where the water leaked (even though I said I trusted his experience, he wanted to show me it really had failed). Emmanuel also connected our gas dryer quickly and correctly. Before he left, he showed me the work he did, had me test the sink flow (no more leak, yay!), and explained how the dryer placement is optimal for the venting, plus the usable space in our laundry closet. He also stated his time here on the job, to which I agreed. I appreciate the clear communication all around. Scheduling and communication with Rafa was clear and efficient too. The reason for the two stars is purely their obscene pricing - they have you over a barrel and seem to know it. It took them about two hours total and they charged about $4,000. That's $2k an hour - which is as close to unethical as you can get. They know you have no choice so charge an arm and a leg simply because they can. Pure highway robbery. Most plumbers are in the $200/hour range - one tenth of that. A surcharge for the special equipment and talent needed to use it on top is appropriate, but $2k an hour is close to extortion - even as grateful as I am they were able to fix it. Wouldn't it be great this day and age to find a business that didn't succumb to greed...
