Initially, we were satisfied with the work done by Whitney, Scott, and Al during our renovation. However, our experience with OHI regarding subsequent issues has been consistently disappointing. Eg, despite acknowledging concerns about our walkway-- which is crooked and visually disorienting--they have continuously postponed resolving the issue until we stopped asking altogether. Furthermore, problems arose within months of installation of our new wood floor. The boards began to warp (cup) because the wood was not properly acclimatized before installation. OHI lied about how long the wood had been in our house prior to installation and instead wrongly accused us of using water to clean the floor. We provided written evidence of the timeline of wood delivery and installation, but they persisted in their lies. After engaging outside experts and exchanging numerous emails, they eventually returned to re-sand and re-stain the floor, but the job was sloppy, leaving stain splatters on baseboards and stainless steel appliances. Furthermore, we discovered numerous hairs laminated into the floor. Our concerns about these issues, along with their botched attempt at spot sanding and staining, which resulted in a large discolored area, have been ignored, again in the hope that we would give up seeking a resolution. This is an update to an existing post. One year post kitchen upgrade the shoddy work continues to manifest itself. Most notably, a drawer completely failed under the range--why? They hacked off the back of it to make it fit--and then couldn't put it back together. We called and their answer was to re order the same size drawer box from the manufacturer. That was MONTHS ago. OHI voided the cabinet company's warranty on the drawer box most likely. We paid for dovetail jointed boxes, so they don't...fail. OHI installer was an absolute hack! Many panels are not in alignment, facings are not uniform--it looks CHEAP. My utter contempt for this company is profound. We could have had any number of other companies do this project for less and achieved a better result. read more

OHI does not understand the concept of customer service at all. Total lack of communication, major time overrun (and the job is still incomplete), quality issues, damage to the property running electrical lines, damage to the property moving cabinets, lack of consistent worker time, inconsistent quality of work in the various contractors that they used, complete lack of oversight by the project manager. I cannot state enough to NOT USE OHI DESIGN. You will pay a premium price for a sub-standard product. read more

I decided to remodel an upstairs full bathroom to address a leak from the tub/shower drain into the kitchen below. My neighbor referred me to OHI who was recommended to her by a coworker. It went as well as I could have expected. OHI came to my house the day after I contacted them and reviewed my project. I had an estimate the next day for much lower than a previous one. The work was completed ahead of scheduled, and I am quite pleased with the result. Throughout the project, communication was top notch as were any responses to my concerns. I have had 4-6 renovations or additions done on my house in the past. This was by far my best experience. read more

OHI Design recently finished a renovation of my kitchen and bathroom. The plumbing in my kitchen wasn't up to code so they had to remove entirely and redo it. My bathroom had an ancient shower box so the plumbing was redone in there to put the shower plumbing inside the wall. They did a wonderful job! I was nervous because I've never done a renovation before so I wanted to use a full service firm. I worked with Whitney on design and Herb was my PM. Whitney helped me pick tile, countertops, hardware, sink/faucet/etc. She was good at keeping me focused on my overall goal - something timeless that won't be dated in five years. It's very easy to get distracted by pretty things in those showrooms! My PM, Herb was extremely responsive when I had questions and kept in touch with me about progress. I moved out during the reno but came back a few times a week to check process (with no forewarning). I appreciated how clean they kept the place during the entire process. One of my neighbors told me how nice and clean the workers were which was great. The last thing you want is neighbors complaining!! I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

We had our bathroom redone 3 years ago and loved it so much that we decided to use them to do our Kitchen as well. Our salesman was very helpful with answering our questions and worked with us to give us exactly what we wanted. I much prefer to do business with companies where they know your name and care and aren't treated as just another sale. Whenever we had more questions the project manager was able to walk us through the process so that everything was in black and white. I would definitely recommend their services to all my friends. read more

Our bathroom remodel ran beyond the maximum time state on the contract. I feel that communication could be better within the company and with clients. I would advise you to make sure that everything is spelled out in the contract. You need to be very detailed and follow up at all times. We made our final payment in April 2014 in good faith that two things would be taken care of. The project manager said it would take two weeks. Here it is June 2014, and we haven't heard from them. read more

A sales rep. came out to look at my bathroom, took measurements, and explained many details to me which I appreciated. He gave me two of his business cards, and told me he would have the estimate in about 3 business days. I never heard from him again. If he really didn't want my business just say so. read more

I had my kitchen remodeled and three walls removed for an open floor plan. Overall, I am very happy with the new look. The entire project started off well and on time. As the weeks went by, the quality of service and communication went downhill to the point where we were being handed off to various POCs at least five times and I could not get some of them to respond to a disagreement on a last piece of our kitchen. It has been FIVE MONTHS for an initial estimate of 5-8 weeks. Now the company wants to close out the project, collect my balance to them, and don't care at ALL that their actions and words and contract write up are absolutely disputable. They just want their money and to be done. I am way more mad now and would NOT recommend OHI unless you've done this before and can hold THEM accountable for their terms of service and timeliness. I will end up having to pay a balance that 1) I disagree with the work being completed, 2) is three months past the estimated date, and 3) can't even be discussed because the people who make decisions can't and won't call me back even though they agreed to how the remaining disputed work would be done. Details: - Make sure the design is EXACTLY what you want. Do not feel rushed even if they need to come out a third or fourth time to go over the proposed design. I was completely overwhelmed on the first visit and regret a few choices because I was told "usually folks sign a contract on the second visit," and "if I were to come out the third time, what would we discuss?" I am pretty particular but for $50k you should be able to be as picky as you want and not feel bad about wanting more time to do your homework. - Make sure you add to the contract WHEN they will be done. I am now nearly THREE MONTHS behind the original "estimate of completion," date that I did not bind them to. The bigger issue is that as soon as they moved on to another project, I was passed around to whoever and I ended up explaining things three and four times over. They were prompt to request all of my payments but at the last $1,200 due, days and days would go by without anyone communicating with us. - Lastly, make sure you understand the contract and there is ZERO doubt in anything written. The main reason I am now posting is because I am now being told something is not covered when I read the contract many times and read it to mean it IS covered. I really want to give them five stars but three months later and with items still not addressed - including the new "that's not covered," after we have been discussing it for months - is just not good form. If things get right very quickly I will gladly change my stance but until then, I feel it necessary to share my experience with potential customers. To be fair, the team was initially extremely communicative and pleasant initially, but it just seems that once the bigger payments were made they fell off the radar. read more
