Feeding and cuddling the baby goats was a highlight of our vacation so far! Our whole family loved the chance to bottle feed the baby goats and hang out in the pen with them! The staff were so friendly and warm! This is a 5/5 for the experience but an 11/5 for the goats! And shout out to the pig- a hands down favorite

From the start, the experience feels a little more special than your typical ATV tour because you're riding through private farmland rather than a crowded trail system. You follow your guide across wide open pastures where you pass horses, cows, and even pigs, which adds such a fun, local feel to the ride. The terrain changes throughout, moving from grassy stretches to rocky sections and muddy patches, so it never feels repetitive or boring. One thing we really appreciated was that the guide adjusted the pace to match the group. If you want to take it slow and steady, you can. If you're feeling more adventurous, they'll pick up the speed. It made the experience feel personalized rather than rigid. Toward the end, there's a short hike down to a beautiful waterfall area that feels tucked away and peaceful. Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain during our visit, so the falls were running strong and it wasn't safe to swim. While that was a bit of a bummer, it was still impressive to see the power of the water and didn't take away from the overall experience. If you're looking for something active and scenic on the Hilo side, this is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. It's a great mix of adventure, views, and a little glimpse into local farmland life, and clearly a highlight of our trip.

The tour was to last two hours, however, we returned back to the main area at exactly one and one half hour. The experience was not what I expected or hoped for and overall was disappointed in the experience.

Keep in mind there is no snorkeling on this excursion and the area around the Hilton is not safe or appropriate for snorkeling. I am writing the review solely on the lava field excursion part. My wife was very dissapointed that there was no snorkeling as we purchased new snorkeling equipment. Roxy was our tour guide and was probably the most knowledgeable and professional tour guide we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Roxy was knowledgeable in the history of volcanoes on Hilo and elsewhere, horticulture, bird species, animals, Hawaiian culture, tourist attractions, history of the Hawaiian Islands, tribes and Capt. Cook, beaches, teachings, burial practices and so much more. Roxy told stories of the early days in Hawaii and how it evolved. Also as a noted her driving and safety practices were impeccable. If you are planning to come to Hilo you must make it a point to reach out to Roxy. We spent approximately 8 hours on the tour and it was so enriching although the lack of snorkeling was a dissapointment . Highly recommended Mahalo

It was a beautiful ride up in the hills right above Kona, so it was very close and convenient to get to. The cultural tour on the ATV's was very informative and fun. The fruit tasting tour was also amazing. We also did the carving tour with Mani a few years ago. He is a true craftsman and hilarious to be around as well. You can't mess up any carving that he can't fix! Impress your friends with your tiki (that he can make beautiful despite your futile attempts to carve on your own.

The staff was really expert and fun. The entire event was very well organized and delicious. Of the 20 fruit we tasted I've only ever tried two or three of them in my life so it was really wonderful and unique. I highly recommend this activity. Most of the fruit are sweet and tropically yummy. There were a few "interesting" items just for fun including cacao seeds and durian. The staff tells you what to do and then you have fun with your knife and cutting board (they help if you ask but doing it myself was very exciting). The surroundings are gorgeous and lush with all sorts of things growing even in the parking lot.

Our guide was Keanu...so much knowledge of Hawaii and even more passion sharing it all with us. To start the day we were met by Makano, a local who lives in the valley, who drove us down the steep winding road to the bottom of the valley. The car ride was incredibly educational and Makano made sure to point out all of the beautiful views the canyon had to offer and make sure we could stop and take lots of pictures. Once we were on the family farm we learned all about taro and how its grown. Makano was very knowledgable and shared all of his experiences with us. We got to walk into the Lopi where the taro is grown, got to pick some ourselves and even tasted some freshly made poi.  After the taro farm we headed deeper into the property to try some more of the islands fresh fruits and berries. To end the day we walked to an entirely secluded waterfall, and yes we were able to walk right in!  This tour is perfect for all ages. It's great that it really doesnt have a "touristy" feel. Makano and his family do a great job of showing you just how a Hawaiian lives (or used to live back in the day) the tour is very personal because of the small group aspect. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to actually go down into the valley and experience all of the beauty the island has to offer!
