It was just after 12 noon and by some miracle we only stood in line about ten minutes. The rush came in shortly after although I will say they handle the crowds beautifully. When it comes to barbecue, I am a pulled pork girl and I have lived in Texas! I don't hate on brisket, but none of it has bowled me over. Until today. Once again, I wasn't ordering so I just went with the flow. That chopped brisket sandwich was so moist and full of flavor that it did not need a DROP of barbecue sauce. I did use the sauce to dip my fries in. I don't often eat macaroni and cheese although I do love it ( my hips don't!) but I had to try it or risk the wrath of my lunch companions. It was delicious! The best I have had in a restaurant. Collards were fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the rustic setting and certainly the company. They can choose dining spots for me anytime!

That's only half true. The mac and cheese was incredible! I am still drooling over it. Nice crust on top.. so yummy. Now, I had the brisket because sometimes pork doesn't agree with me. I wish I would've just taken an antacid and had the pork. I ordered the sliced lean brisket. It was not as tender as I would think and a little on the dry side. My husband had the pulled pork and our daughter had the pulled pork sandwich. Both raved about it. I had a bite of the sandwich and instantly regretted my meat choice. We ordered a pint of the mac and cheese, which was amazing! We also order a side of the tallow fries. Those were delish as well. The line was super long but they did a good job at moving it along. We sat outside at the patio since we had our pup with us. Great place to check out when visiting Charleston but I would encourage you to try the pork over the brisket.

I am so very picky about where I eat and make sure to check food scores often but Martin's had an excellent score which put my mama heart right at ease! When we pulled up in the bus it was the cutest place! This is top notch BBQ. My daughter and I both got the BBQ sandwich with Mac and Cheese, green beans and a small side of coleslaw. The BBQ sandwich was bussin' no cap, y'all! So good! The Mac and cheese was tasty as well with corkscrew noodles with a white cheese sauce and the slaw was surprisingly delicious I ate my kiddos slaw too! lol! I could have done without the green beans they were prepared very southern but that's just my personal taste my friend and fellow chaperone loved them! I was so impressed with the team at this restaurant they knew we were coming 32 kids, 16 parents, 4 teachers and they worked like a well oiled machine no rushing around, no panicking, no delays, just a fully prepared team ready to help our party plus their regular crowd with smiles and friendliness even though they were busy. We had a great experience at Martins and will be recommending it to everyone going to Charleston from now on!!

Substantial portions although the brisket burger and catfish sandwiches are not so big with price to match. The brisket burger in appearance looks just like a hamburger as the meat is minced. The catfish is deep fried in a nice crispy batter. Order the platters if you want a heavier meal. Nice atmosphere, lots of family groups, dining room seating as well as an outdoor area. Good place for groups where you want the convenience of paying separately without having to split bills.u

Sausage is ok, and likes the chicken when he is in the mood for it. He hasnt had anything there that he doesnt like. I loved the turkey, baked beans and Mac n cheese. Our Hurricane drink was pretty delicious( with part of the proceeds goes to a charity for that one particular drink). The server was polite and friendly. They smoke and bbq all the meats right out back of the restaurant so the food came out quick, fresh and amazing! I personally loved the Mustard and Sweet Red sauces while my husband prefers the slight heat of the Jalapeño sauce . The recipes for the sauces are hanging up on the walls as part of the decor. The only thing i could knock them for is the bathroms were a little dingy. Not really super dirty, just needs some updating with new tiles and paint. Overall great place and we will definitely will be returning!

However, I feel like we've had better barbecue up north than we did here... We ordered a brisket plate + a pork belly plate to share with mac & cheese, grits and corn pudding. The brisket was dry and flavorless. The pork belly was more fat than meat. Thank goodness for the variety of delicious sauces they provided with our meals! I'm giving two stars for the sides & sauces being pretty good but that's about it. I don't know the area but I'm sure you can find better meats elsewhere :(
