September 9th was altogether different experience. I moved out of a 1 bdrm home with outdoor furniture. It's been a long time since i moved and apparently I did not ask enough questions and Tim did not explain my cost options ( 3 hr min w/ 2 guys Vs 4 hr min w/ 3 guys) to ensure I understood the cost difference as a return customer. Also I was not offered my senior discount i see in prior reviews. I was charged a shrink wrap fee $20 when they had tons of blankets. Beware owner will not use Zelle, Venmo or PayPal to avoid a 5% Credit card fee-OUCH! Moving forward, I will call 3 other companies for comparison.

The first time using this company was really good and we had a great experience so I referred them to every one of my tenants, all of my family and friends, plus anyone that mentioned they were in need of movers. Then I used them a second time last week to over 2 refrigerators and a bookshelf I cannot move myself. Not only did they gouge out about a 4 inch piece from my brand new floors while moving the fridge, the owner lied to me and said he would come back and fix it right away, but then as soon as that payment went thru via Zelle he stopped answering all my texts and will not fix the damages to my floors his crew caused. All I asked was for someone to come and fix the damages (like he offered first hand) or if he could not to that to pay the cost for someone to fix it as the floors were just installed less than 6 months ago. And I got nothing, I got complete silence. I am so sad that it turned out this way and I will now never recommend/refer or use this company again and I will tell everyone of my experience with them. And i have all the pictures to proof what happened and text message conversations as well. This is not okay and not a way to do business with a loyal customer. I am was disappointed in you guys. The entire process (from initial phone call, on site estimate, packing, loading, unloading) was somewhat painless. "Somewhat painless" is a huge achievement with any move, especially one that is cross country. I felt that the cost was not only fair but also a very good value. All staff (Burgess employees - Allison and Todd, North American agents, sub contractors) were knowledgable, competent, and responsive. Most importantly, they fulfilled their verbal commitments. They gave me a call roughly an hour before they came so we could prep for them and didn't complain at all when they couldn't get their truck up our steep driveway(not their fault, it's a VERY steep driveway and a VERY big truck). They were quick, prompt, professional, and very friendly. They also were quick to adapt when there was a last minute change in where we were going to meet and were easy to communicate with both via yelp and phone. 10/10, would and will be using these guys again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for movers; especially up here on the mountain.

I've learned quite a few costly mistakes which I need to share…read more Knowing I have to close escrow and vacate my property by 8/15, I was assured by Peter (owner, senior level point of contact), not to worry. Based on reviews, I trusted. Initially, movers were to be there between 12:00pm and 12:30pm. Once they were late I called and was told that they got tied up on the move before mine and were running late. Ok. Things happen and that's reasonable. But was still assured not to worry. They eventually arrived at 8PM. Now I was worried. Towards the end of loading (which I and my son helped with, even though we were paying for it), I was told that they could hold my stuff overnight and deliver first thing in the morning since it was already 10:45PM. I knew I should've trusted my gut. All in all, I was quoted initially $1,000 and ended up paying just shy of $2,000 (including tips for the movers who were very good) Not vacating the property cost me another $500 because my escrow contract dictated a $500 penalty per day. Peter assured me not to worry. Two dining room chairs were broken by one of the movers. That's ok, these things happen especially during a household move. My calls and voicemails to Peter were never returned on how I can file a claim. Well, I guess I have to eat that cost as well. Lessons for others: 1) Don't accept or agree to an afternoon move. Try for a morning one. So in case you want your washer and dryer hooked up, fridges, etc. All these ancillary items will push back the afternoon appointments. 2) Understand the difference between binding and non-binding estimates. 3) Review the option for insurance and also consider third party insurance The good part about this were the actual movers. These guys all hustled. Carlos (seemed to be the supervisor of the other 3 guys) was awesome. Nothing but kudos to the guys that did the actual heavy lifting and moving.
