They served up a fantastic matcha latte, and Liz got a cappuccino. I thought this place was a fine place to eat breakfast, or if we wanted to get a coffee or tea to go. Liz and 'Em had pancakes... although it looked like smaller portions they were filled quickly. I had a morning brekkie with meat, which came with toast, bacon, a small tub of beans, roasted tomato and spinach, and toasted eggs. It was all pretty delicious. The server offered sauces (hot sauce or ketchup). I was pretty content with the food. All types of folks come in and all are treated the same. If you're up around the area - or on the way to the World Museum, stop by.

My friends and I were greeted very warmly as we arrived and got to choose where to sit. Then we ordered at the counter. You can see everything being made there. All items used are local, which I love. There are vegan and vegetarian options as well. Cute little menu with the right amount of stuff on their for breakfast or lunch. They also have cakes! Variety of toasts, bagels, French toast, coffees, teas, other drinks. Everything at great prices! I always leave that place satisfied and with happy tummy!

This location was recommended by a local so we tried it. Upon entering, it is a smaller establishment with a second floor. There are more tables up here, but it is a little warmer. The decor is very simple. This is one area they could possibly improve on. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They helped us to choose things from the menu and explained the items to us with detail. We tried several of the dishes here. We started with the flatbread and hummus. This was homemade and very delicious! We then had the ox cheek ragu and the chistorra sausage. Both of these dishes were very flavorful, especially the ox cheek. This was the first time I've had ox cheek and it was quite unexpected. The sausage was a little on the greasy side. Ox cheek won that round. Then we had the cauliflower and the Indian spiced bean. Both of these dishes were absolutely wonderful. This round was a tie. Last round we had the sea bass and the coley. Both of the fish dishes were very good, but the coley was phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant as it is tasty and priced very well. We will return at some point!

Puccino's - at least I think that's still its name, this seems to be another cafe that missed marketing 101 and prefers to hide its brand - is a very tasteful and enjoyable coffee shop situated in the middle of Matthew Street. Yes the walls are covered with Beatles guff, although they are rather good portraits and gold discs, but the atmosphere is very laid back and the staff are very helpful and polite. With this being tourist central I wasn't surprised that the prices are a little more expensive than what you would expect for breakfasts and sandwiches but the girl serving me did suggest that you can get a few things off the menu.

All the boxes ticked for a magical munching experience, and even more bonuses to boot. Really good coffee is one of its perks (ha! Perks! I didn't even realise I'd do any punnery today!) and breakfasts are particularly spiffing, with generous portions and a particular attention to detail when it comes to the fried eggs. It's a very sociable little spot, especially considering it's so central, making it the ideal place to meet friends, partners or family. And clean? You could eat off the tables if you were so inclined. The atmosphere is very chilled out and the selection is varied, with plenty for veggies to get their teeth into as well. So, when offered a chance to dine for free during their soft launch week, I couldn't resist! The restaurant is welcoming, with a small outdoor patio area covered in astro-turf, looking absolutely perfect for some summer drinks. Unfortunately for us, it was a grey and rainy day, so we headed inside. The reception desk is slightly to the left and not in your direct eyeline, which felt slightly odd; it appears they have split the interior between bar and restaurant. We were shown to a table towards the rear of the space - and directly in between two other full tables. It being their soft launch week, it was empty, so why sit us directly next to other people? It felt odd. I hope they change the table numbers when properly launched as they were simply printed on card and looked very last minute - a shame to detract from the shine everywhere else. Our waitress was very bubbly and introduced herself, explaining the menu and bringing our complementary glass of prosecco over. The place mats become the menus - and my is it a big menu! Everything is on there (breakfast through to a selection of sushi) so it felt quite overwhelming. Despite this, the drinks menu is nowhere on the table, and they have separate cocktail and wine/beer options. Menus galore! We had a main and dessert each - pork belly with a side of broccoli followed by the chocolate pave for me, the Vincent burger and sticky toffee pudding for him. The pork was delicious and had the right balance between meat and fat (essential for a good belly!) and the pea & ham hock croquette served alongside was brilliant. The burger looked good, with a nice pink colour, and the fries were lovely and crispy. The chocolate pave was tasty, especially the peanut ice cream served on top, but the caramel popcorn seemed at odds with the dish. The stick toffee pudding went down very well - comfort food at its finest. Overall it was a good meal and I'd recommend for special occasions if you're in the area. However, it would have been an expensive meal - we're talking £15-£25 for mains - and the food was just 'good'. Perhaps we'll revisit in a few months and let them settle...

This place automatically gets downgraded, stars-wise for having an "optional" and "discretionary"…read more10% service charge that's automatically added to the bill so you have to pay it regardless. I'm pretty sure Steven Gerrard can afford to pay his staff correctly without charging customers over the odds. If anyone had asked me how the service was, I'd have told them - excruciatingly and frustratingly slow, considering there were only 5 tables seated in the whole place by the time we left. It's counter-productive to charge this mandatory service charge - despite being unhappy with the service, and given no opportunity to discuss it, I'd probably still have tipped more than 10% at my ACTUAL discretion because I'm stupid/nice like that/used to American tipping. The food was all right - nothing exciting, bit under seasoned. The decor was nice if you like that wine bar feel. But I wouldn't rush back unless I had several hours to spare, to wait for the staff to get their act together
