Tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of Bold Street et al, Epicured is a fantastic place to grab some lunch or a drink and while away some time. We headed in for a Saturday lunch and were totally reluctant to leave by the end of our meal!
It's a bright, airy space, with lots of seating. There are a few tables of two and four, with a large raised table for around 6/8 people, so can accommodate for a range of party sizes. We tucked ourselves away next to the wall of jeans and took in the rest of the space; from the large projection of videos, including a roaring fireplace, to the branded tables, it's a super relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The menu includes 'picnic blocks' for sharing, sandwiches, and additional nibbles. We weren't looking for anything too heavy, so went for block 5; halloumi, feta, roasted peppers/courgette/aubergine, and hummus, plus nuts and olives which come with every board. This also came with a plate of both toasted and fresh crusty bread with oil and vinegar, and we went for an additional order of hot chorizo - I couldn't resist!
We could just about fit the feast on our table and were ready to tuck in - it all look fresh and well cooked, and you could tell that care had gone into it. The halloumi was deliciously squeaky, and the roasted vegetables went perfectly with the crumbly feta. We were offered something sweet for afters as they have fresh cookies, muffins and cakes available on the counter, but we couldn't possibly fit anything else in by this point.
Service was super friendly throughout, and you could feel the passion behind the place; not only were we asked how we'd found our food, but also how we'd heard about them, and they seemed pleased to know that social media really does work for new businesses!
The payment process is pretty damn fancy, with us being shown our order on an iPad and paying through something that looked like a futuristic card reader. Always good to see technology being used by independents to make their lives easier.
